I'm fascinated with this story and the world, and im falling in love with what ever it is you are building towards.

ill say this "you got lucky" i was about to drop this vn after the cold opening and somewhat terrible corny writing in the beggining but after me and my friend pass that opening this story hooked us like a fishing rod,
There's no words to describe how much I and my friend felt in love with the political drama and universe you have set here, and i await with obsolute intrigue for the next updates,
that said i few nitpicks of the story, for starters the eyes nearly made me laugh and could have done better to make the reader feel dread when they saw it, maybe making the eyes blank as to give away that since that what ever you are speaking with is beyond the living and a few "horror" parts that could have been done with a bit more kick with the imagery like seeing your friends with black eyes to signified that they are either dead or possesed giving the horror of watching your friends being lost to the darkness,
ok I'm about to be a little mean so brace yourselves, and understand that is comming from somebody who enjoys...what ever this is becoming.
starting off, i played Ken's, Hiro's and Mark's (have yet to read Gabriel as of making this review), I'm in intrigued with Ken's and Hiro's route which is where Mark's route fails for me, there's a subtlety to the horror and mystery in both panther and fox route that is messed up in the dog's route, which is funny cause clearly Mark's is where the budget went, i loved the change of perspective and mini game that was added in some scenes that helps flesh the VN to a interactive game, however Mark as a character felt interesting at first but falls flat as he is replaced by Simone and Ollie making his route the least focused, i also didn't like Virgil being more of a active antagonist compared to the other routes where he is an omnipresent entity making him mysterious and eldritch like.
As for Ken's and Hiro's i love where this is going curently as both of this stories feel more grounded although Ken's nearly ended up making the same mistakes Mark's route made which is thankfully sidelined by focusing more on Ken, the setting and the events unfolding as you help him with his issues.
Overall my point is the story works best when you are focusing on the characters present, the time period they have to face off, and the horror of (in the case of Ken and Hiro) abuse, racism, trauma and the uncertainty of having a good ending.
pardon my language, but many horror games like this have a lot of bullshit and shitty ways to scare you which I find frustrating more than fun or engaging I love it when i game has a feel like this.
where you are left unnerve and with more questions than answers that may or may never be answered, it has that great early creepypasta story where the story just ends abruptly and you are left wondering if the main character is alive or not.
really wish more games where like this.
not gonna lie, I thought the face was going to be a dumb look for the protag if every other character is supposed to be normal looking but the idea that the mask hides a secret interested me with the main character. though would have loved it if that was expanded with other characters kind of hinting at or questioning the mask but overall nice story you have going on.
Oh boy here I am, being that jackass about to complain about something.
But I dont know how I feel about the new sprite for Chase, the old one had that uncanny almost human look to it that really put you on edge when seeing Chase for the first time.
Now he just looks goofy, I dont know how to feel about it, and it still doesn't match well with the other sprites.
Edit: after playing 4 episodes of the extras and getting use to/playing around with Chase expressions Im actually starting to like it, it still looks goofy but it's the good kind of goofy that makes pre collage Chase look adorably twinkish which I guess works for the time.
if you are New and wish to know which order to play, first of all "Hi!" hope you are having a great day cause things will get depressing, and second i recomend this order:
Leo
Carl
Jenna
TJ
Flynn
the main core of this game is learning about the characters and this order will give you a more consistent story and you wont have to piece toguether to much of each character and lore by playing it this way.
I recomend Leo first cause you're in for a rude awakening, and Flynn last cause it is the most confusing if you haven't played the other routes first, and because i want you to finish the game feeling hopeless and depressed XD
mind you this is my prefer order, you could also go:
Carl
Leo
TJ
Flynn
Jenna
as this is the order the game gives you in the extra and the order the developers took when making/finishing the game. It is also consistent and will leave you with a more "happier ending" to end on if you are a coward.
yes:
Leo
Carl
Jenna
TJ
Flynn
play it in this order, theres no actual right order but the story will be more consistent this way as the main core of the experience is learning about the characters and this way you learn something in each route that will carry over if you play it in order
dont play flynn route first as it is the most confusing if you havent played the other routes first
replaying this VN made me realize one small issue in the story, and is about how badly characterized Arty is
he is the deffenition of a clueless idiot ho doesn't know how to read the room, and does make it ruin certain parts of the story i feel would have worked well if Arty was better characterized or missing all together
i understand wanting to have a light hearted character to balance the mood, but it would have worked better if Arty was more of a useful third party that helped balance the relation ship between Cameron and Devon
Example: Giving how controlling Devon is, Arty could be that friend for Cameron ho allows the coyote to be more care free while also letting Arty have some opinion on their relation ships that could either serve to connect or distance the couple, it would have also serve better if it was Arty ho helped Cameron on certain scenes to give the idea that he is not just their for the ride. (like the part where Cameron nearly dies, Devon may have lost it and it is Arty ho helps by calming Devon and actually knowing about CPR or something like that)
to start, I'm loving this so far it still has that same great writing from Echo
however, the change of style and perspective was kind of a shock, while I like the cartoonish and light-hearted style, Echo's more rough and messy imagery made it fit with its horror atmosphere and the change from human-like to animalistic also change my perspective of how I see this visual novel, this is not a jab to the artist he is amazing, as for the perspective going from Chase first-person point of view to Cameron and Devon third person outside perspective did mess with my immersion as I feel more outside of the conflict compare to feeling like being in the paws of Chase or Samuel.
again don't take this as if I hate it cause I don't it's still amazing and the writing still has that Echo blunt realism that I love, just a few criticisms that i caught on
game has a cool concept but having a random chance difficulty added with enemies that can attack faster than you can react is frustrating and leaves you rolling a dice whether you can pass by undetected
i finish by chance and brute forcing it, like i said a great concept but needs more restructuring
i hope to see more from you.
