Very hard, but the drift mechanic was soooo good!

Oo, I like the top-down camera.  That would have been perfect!

Thanks for playing!  I wish we had another day to work on it.  We planned to make a level where you had to throw the asteroids by spinning the ship + asteroid.  It was super fun in the editor!

That's a good tip about the hitboxes.  Looking back, the ship hitbox is just a box and goes to the very tips of the wings.  Probably a little excessive.  I think the asteroid's hitbox is also about the size of it's mesh.  For blink, I wanted to add two things: 1. making it so you can't blink if something is occupying the space (and a UI indicator for this), 2. a bigger, more obvious blink target to show where you're going to go.  Think that'd be enough?  It's especially bad when the mechanic requires you to use it when you can't really see it, lol.

I had a lot of fun playing this.  It's hard to be patient with the claw when the minions are coming to get you. You nailed the claw sound effect to.  Nice work!

I liked the first few levels, then my wife stole my laptop and played the rest.  So uh.. thanks for that I guess.  Jk, great game!

Thanks!  It was our first game jam.  We definitely should have put a little tutorial in the beginning for you all!

This was super fun.  Reminds me of the old World War 2 games on the NES!

i really like this!  It's rare to see programming games for something like this.  I noticed a bug with the if statement at the end, it looks like it skips over an END if it's after the ENDIF or something?

I really liked this!  It's so satisfying when the rockets line up and you can hold a or d for a while and smash a bunch.  Maybe would have been a good place to put a combo or something?  I also wish it were physics-based so you could smash the rockets into each other or something?  All that being said, it's a short game jam, great job!

If you click on the thing you want to drag it gets highlighted, then push T and the tractor beam target will show up.  Then put that by the asteroid and it will be attracted to it!  Thanks for playing!

Thanks for the reply!  I didn't know this was a thing.  I'm going to have to use this in my next game.  You're right this would have been sweet, especially when the shield breaks, or maybe when you take physical damage or something?

This game was awesome.  The animation with the chopsticks grabbing the sushi cracked me *up*!

Haha, yeah.  Originally we were going to lean into the asteroid loop thing a lot more, but when we tried it out it was too lame, haha.  Thanks for playing!

I think you're right about the lasers.  We intended to make them 3 shot bursts or semi-auto or something to make people more strategic about them.  We also had a whole turret/targeting mechanic at one time, but it didn't end up fitting the game very well.   (what fun is letting the turrets kill the asteroids for you?)

Thanks!  It's not you, haha.  If I have any regrets it's that we spent way too little time making levels and tuning compared to how much time we spent on adding mechanics.  There were a few that didn't even really make it into the game.  Ahh well, next time!

Originally we didn't even have the brake, so you had to counter-act every bit of movement.  The team made me take it out, but I love games that do that!

(1 edit)

This was really fun!  I loved the level where you have to chase the drill.  The music choice was really good too.  Ran into a small bug with reloading.  Occasionally my dude wouldn't come back after reloading?  I may have been spamming keys waiting for him to come back, which maybe added to the problem.  Great game!

You're totally right about the "JUICE", haha.  We just kept implementing mechanics and left too much to crunch time at the end, haha.  Noob mistake.

Curious about the stopping time thing.  Does that make it feel more impactful when you hit something?

I like the water effect you put in!  I was playing on a touchpad, still fun, but way harder lol.

Thanks!  I loved the controls in Outer Wilds!  You're right, the blink target definitely needs some work.  I thought of maybe making it show through objects, but ran out of time :/

It does slow down, but you have to put the tractor beam ball behind it pretty far to notice it.  We also made blink teleport to the other side of the asteroid if it's grabbed.  Didn't tell anyone about it because it's too confusing, haha.

I wish we would have thought to put a hotkey to toggle top down.  The minimap was kind of supposed to be that, but the range is too small.

This was super fun and creative!  Loved the aesthetic.  I kind of like not having the notes so you have to remember as much as possible!

Thanks for playing!  Loved the aesthetic and gameplay of your game!

Thanks for the feedback!  I just added some better instructions to the description, you can use right mouse button to free look, so you can see behind you if you want.

The loop mechanic you talked about would have been sweet!  Wish we would have thought of that.  The best way I've found to get Big Crusty to the end is to start it going forward and a little along the asteroid belt direction (so the relative velocity is less), and then fly in front of it, destroying the asteroids.  If you have it selected as the tractor target it has an indicator, but it's only on screen (no time for anything better, sadly)

All that to say - I wish we had more time to tweak the difficulty!  Thanks for playing!

Hahaha, the tutorial got scrapped!  There was no time!  Thanks for playing!

If you click on it the tractor beam target box will go around it and it will be attracted to the tractor beam ball if it's in range!  We could have had a better tutorial, to be honest :/

Great game!  This is a strange thing to like maybe, but the explosion animation is on point!

So fun!  The car gets a bit hard to control at high speed, but that's part of the fun!

Thanks!  Played yours, and it's great too!  Love the mechanic with your past cars following you!

You're totally right, lol.  We wanted to make a tutorial, but no time!  Thanks for playing!

Thinking back, there's short delay after you die before it re-loads the level.  I bet you were dying again in that short delay which was resetting the reload level timestamp.  Nice catch!  Thanks for playing!

Thanks for making it work on mobile!  The beginning was fun.  I wish it has some more choices as you destroyed bigger ones, but maybe it wouldn't be hyper casual then, haha.  Nice job!

Thanks for making an android build!

Thanks for making an android build!!  I'm on a road trip with no computer!

Love the idea.  Played on my phone and it worked great!
