This was a cool track! Lots of synths and percussion that worked nicely together. And it sounded like the first track leads right into the 2nd one, which was a nice touch of detail

This was a cool track! I do think the start could be a bit quieter, especially with the engine noises, but I really like how the ending turned out. Gave me Persona vibes.

Great job! I liked the variety across all the tracks, and the last track was a fun listen

This was a cool listen! Definitely gave off horror vibes kind of like being in an abandoned spacecraft. Think you nailed the ambience on this one

Glad you liked it! Had quite a bit of fun experimenting with some new ideas with this one

Glad you liked it! About the synth, I mainly added it as an attempt to add some texture in the background while challenging myself to use my synth for this piece. Probably would've expanded on it a bit more, but I was busy with work and other stuff unfortunately.

Great job! I think you nailed the harmonies with this one, especially considering I also find it hard to make good orchestral vst performances.

Great orchestral piece here, the bells made for a nice start! Kinda reminded me of something I would hear in this game called Wizard101 I used to play as a kid. You definitely nailed the magical vibe here along with the painting.

The guitar sounded really good here! Heard lots of variation in sounds here so it was an interesting listen, great job!

update: I forgot to add screenshots of my DAW so they should be here now. (my bad lol)

This was cool to listen to, especially with all the instruments acting like a specific character.

Kinda reminded me of what Fire Emblem: Three Houses did at a certain part(won't elaborate cause spoilers lol), but you did a great job conveying a story here.

Great work!

This was an interesting track. Great composition overall, and I liked how the synth and guitar were used in these tracks.

Great work!

These track fit the theme pretty well, sounds relaxing.

I liked the modulation into different keys in the second track as a way to switch things up, and the reverb captured the mood nicely.

Well done!

Well done! I think the piano solo still fit well with the theme, and it was done beautifully.

And it was cool that you didn't use a metronome or anything to record it, so it felt a lot more human.

Sometimes when I'm out of ideas, I also tend to rely on the piano since you can still do a lot with it. But these tracks definitely stand well on its own, good work!

This sounded really clean and professional, well done!

I liked the singing/vocals in the last track, definitely made for a nice conclusion.

This was a very cool track, I liked the orchestra mixed in with all the sound effects.

And the electric guitar was a cool way to finish the track.

Thanks! It was actually really hard at some parts to keep everything in sync without resorting to quantization to be fair, but I did my best.

The live playing of the rhythm seemed to work better on the drums in track 1 compared to the strings in track 3, but thanks for the feedback!

Glad to see someone else take the orchestral approach too! I think you nailed the cinematic sound across the 4 tracks, and I think the reverb helped with the atmosphere.

Great work!

(1 edit)

Thanks for the feedback! Probably should've mentioned it too, but I've been composing using the Arturia synthesizer and an expression pedal(I think it was called Boss something) that lets you control the volume of the instrument as you press a key on the keyboard.

I mainly play piano (a bit of saxophone, violin and electric guitar) and I use a console digital piano to perform those parts. As for everything else, I try to control the dynamics with the expression pedal, if that's considered a midi controller.

I'll definitely read more into your advice!

Great soundtrack. I like how expressive the strings and piano were throughout, as well as the simplicity. Reminds me on how I would try to compose/improvise when I wanna mess around on the keyboard lol

Good job, fits really well into the theme we were given.

Though I do think the snare drums at the end could be a little quieter, as to not suddenly overpower the melody/harmony. But other than that, the instruments were well balanced I believe, mixing wise.

Excellent work here! You really put a lot of effort and detail in conveying an emotional melody. Especially with the variation in dynamics in the strings, making it a lot more human-like.

Thanks for the comment! You could probably tell I like using those bells quite a bit lol, pretty easy to create atmosphere using things like the celesta, glockenspiel, bells, etc.

As for Lost Liles, thankfully no C++ skill required, just a pdf I found on google on Morse Code that  I used

Nice sense of atmosphere, and it's great how you combined these free plugins pretty well to create background music that blends nicely. (I think everything on spitfire labs is free, idk lol)
The music does sort of cut off abruptly in the end of both tracks, like the cello in the nighttime theme. Just a minor thing that could easily be solved by gradually lowering the volume of the instruments/fade out.

Great work!

Great work! Sounds like you guys put a lot of effort into all those background noises, mixing to get an immersive feel. Turned out well.

As someone who also did a retro style soundtrack, great work!

I definitely struggle when it comes to percussion like what most boss/battle music like yours has. But everything flows nicely together to create that tension.

Beautiful work, definitely reminds me of Gymnopedie by Erik Satie , and Minecraft like others have said.

Its almost similar to the way I improvise on the piano as well, with lots of slow chords and patterns.  But well done!

I like the dark and atmospheric feeling created by this track. Feels mysterious, and the vibes/celesta(not sure exactly what instrument that bell sound is lol) also adds to that feeling.

The piano in the first track was well done, sounding slightly out of tune to add to the dark atmosphere.

Overall, excellent use of instruments, great job!

This sounds really cool and professional. Definitely has that dark souls vibe which you successfully pulled off with lots of background sounds.

One of my favourites for sure, good work!

This was a very catchy and high quality submission. Percussion was satisfying to listen to, and lots of variety in the main motif. Though, experimenting with the motif in different keys more instead of just C major could further help make some of the tracks stand out more, but that's just a slight nitpick.

My favourites were You Lead Me and I Wanted You

Either way, nice job in this long soundtrack!

Nice track! I found the rhythm in all of them interesting and nice to listen to, also liked the ambience in Bubble Realm.

Thanks for the comment! I'm still relatively new at mixing and mastering, and wanted to give these samples a try since I've used them quite a bit. I'll definitely try listening to other's submissions for inspirations and how to improve!
