Hi everyone! I'm John, a solo dev, and Embercourt is my 1v1 online collectible card game in the spirit of Hearthstone. It's now in a free open beta, playable in your browser.

What's in the beta

  • Real-time 1v1 multiplayer matches against other players
  • Every pack is free, so you can open everything and try every card and deck idea
  • Court Run: an early solo mode. It's playable but limited and still buggy.

Challenge the dev: my in-game name is Splash. Add me as a friend and try to beat me. I'll play whoever shows up.

Please read before you play:

  • You need to create a free account to play (just a username and password).
  • It's a beta, so expect bugs and unfinished bits.
  • When Embercourt launches on Steam, ALL data and accounts will be reset. Everything you unlock now is for testing and fun only.

Bug reports and feedback are very welcome in the comments!

Five classes. Five class resources.  each class has hes own board flavor.

Embercourt is a dark-fantasy card game where the seat you take is the game you play — Focus, Fortify, Sap, Ink, or Soul. This page is a playable browser demo. Hit Run game. You get a guest seat as Vanguard. No account wall.

In this build you can:

• Open the Vanguard starter court and packs

• Practice against the Court, Friends or the ladder(if enough payers online)

• Build a deck

• Bind a name to keep the seat — packs stay, and you unlock one extra class

The seats

Archmage — Focus. Spells that scale if you let them cook.

Vanguard — Fortify. A wall first, then the grind.

Warden — Sap. The grove answers after you plant it.

Hexwright — Ink. Contracts on the docket, not just cards in hand.

Gravebound — Soul. The yard is part of the deck.

This is in development. Chrome or Edge also available on android as an app. If something feels wrong on the board, say so here — a bad trade, a rule that didn’t fire, a class that didn’t click. That’s the useful kind of noise.

Play it on this page. click here

Made a browser TCG that should feel familiar if you played a lot of MTG/HS - without being a clone [demo]

Been collecting/playing MTG since forever (HS later) and I wanted a game where the class you sit  is the game.

So I built  Embercourt : dark-fantasy TCG, 5 classes, 5 resources, same board. Same table, totally different match depending on your Commander seat.

I just put a free browser demo up -  no account needed, you can sit as guest Commander and play directly:

https://john-van-eck.itch.io/embercourt

Currently in: pack opening, deck building, practice vs Court, Court Run mode, 5-class hub. Solo focused, you can earn everything. Multiplayer/PvP is in to test.

If you grew up on MTG/HS, curious what you think - what makes a TCG feel like "home" to you without just copying Hearthstone?

Happy to return feedback on your projects too.

Hi all,

As a solo dev i Just launched a free browser demo of Embercourt - dark-fantasy TCG.

If you know HS/MTG it should feel familiar right away, but it's not a clone.

Five classes, five resources, same board - the seat you take changes the game you play.Play now (guest Commander seat, no login needed):

play the game

Whats in the demo :  open packs, build, practice vs Court, Court Run(soon), 5-class hub. Singleplayer now,

multiplayer/PvP is in there to test.

I'm looking for blunt, short feedback:

After 1 match - did board/resources click?

Did it feel familiar without feeling like a copy?

Would you start a 2nd match / try another class?

What was confusing in the first 2 min?

Thanks for any notes - even 2 lines helps a ton.
