Hey everyone! I’ve been working on A Demon Hunter’s Guide to Passing Finals, a story-driven, anime inspired, RPG built in RPG Maker MZ with a heavy emphasis on atmosphere, exploration, and character. The demo covers the opening chapter and introduces the academy, the magic system, and the first big choices the player makes.
📝 Quick Summary
You play as Riku Kurogane, a new student at the Kaito Onimaru Demon Hunter Academy—thrown into a world where magic is elemental, demons hide behind illusions, and even first-year exams can be fatal.
The game features:
-
18+ unique elements, each with complex interactions
-
A card-based minigame (Demon Hunter’s Arena) woven into the story
-
A shiny-style monster system (one of the latest features)
-
A focus on narrative choices, mystery, and academy-style world-building
-
A fully scripted intro sequence with a dynamic storm event using real thunder audio
💬 Why I’m Sharing This
I’ve been quietly developing this alone for quite a while—balancing learning the tools, creating custom plugins, writing the story, and building the world piece by piece. Some parts of this came together during some pretty difficult moments in my life, and honestly, finishing this demo took more perseverance than I expected.
I’m trying to build something meaningful from the ground up, and this community feels like the right place to share it—not just to get eyes on the game, but to grow and improve with the help of other indie devs who know how hard this journey can be.
🙏 I’d Love Your Feedback
If you try the demo:
-
Let me know what you liked
-
What felt rough or confusing
-
And what you think I should refine as I move into the next chapter
I’m genuinely grateful for any time you’re willing to give.
Thanks for reading—and for supporting indie creators who are out here trying to turn tiny sparks of ideas into full worlds.
Just looking for someone to make a graphic for the opening menu for my RPG Maker MZ project, the concept for the game has heavy anime influences, and I would like the menu background to reflect that.
Not sure what else needs to be said, ask me if you have any questions, or need to know something I didn't think to include.
Surprisingly, it can. The video is over a year old, and there are many different sites that come up when one Google's "openai.com" as the video suggests. And I assume these credits are not free, but cost money? If that's the case it is a dealbreaker for me. The $10 USD was a huge ask as I live on a fixed income, but the promise of aid made it worth it in my eyes, now the prospect of further investment in something that still cannot help me has me balking.
Simplify it, make a video showing what to do and how to do it, and update that video as necessary. Otherwise you'll have a lot of people demanding their money back.
I'm almost there.
Also, when people are past that, generating in battle monster sprites would be useful for those of us who are not artistically inclined.
The offer is there.
The game is called "A Demon Hunter's Guide to Passing Finals". You play a new student at a prestigious demon hunter academy, and as such you get to fight demons, and when you defeat them you can get a piece of the essence of that demon which can then be used in potions or weapons/armor/accessories.
All I need at present is help brainstorming names for demons and other creatures of darkness, and then their essence items and fine-tuning the other crafting ingredients I have developed.
Greetings Eugenio. If you have a little extra time and want to join a team, I am developing a game about a demon hunter academy in another dimension. Developing the story now. If you like, I am good with events, even if I have much to learn, I would be happy to help you with that if you have a project you need help on. I likely forgot one or two crucial details that I never think to consider, so if you like, just ask me for clarification.
