I agree it can feel overwhelming at first. Just like many board games, the large amount of rules and text might make some people step back. I’m actively thinking about how I can use the strengths of a video game to simplify the tutorial and make it easier to learn. Thanks for taking the time to understand and play!
Nice game and I have a lot of reflections from that. This game is very hard for me with the basic speed. Perhaps you can set a few more speed levels or fix the start/end position. I don't often find the need to use mechanics of looping to the other side, but I was impressed when it helps. Would be a bit easier if we can replace the placed pieces for a few times. In the future, you may add more collections / goals in the board. Good jobbb!
You did a great job in level design with perfect difficulty curve, but I want more challenging levels :3 The game needs an undo button especially for the later stages. I like how you combine functions in a few buttons (WASD, R, and Shift) but sometimes I pressed the wrong one and need to restart the level (and I forgot my path!) XD. Nice game!
Thanks so much!!! I really appreciate how digital board games can make things easier, like removing the need to roll dice or move pieces by hand, and also allow for a more dynamic and helpful UI. I did plan to make the interface clearer, but sadly just ran out of time. Same with playtesting, I couldn’t fine-tune the pacing as much as I had hoped, given that there are lots of tiny adjustable stuff.
I would love to explore the idea of making it a multiplayer game in the future. Really appreciate your thoughts. They mean a lot!
Thank you both so much for playing!
I actually spent a lot of time thinking about how to guide players clearly. I knew the rules might be a bit complicated, and I tried to address that through the UI and in-game rules. That said, time was tight (as always with jams!), and there’s definitely a lot of room for improvement. I did manage to add a destination preview, but perhaps an 'outcome action preview' would be even more useful. I hadn’t thought of an undo button, I’d love to explore how to achieve it.
Really appreciate your thoughtful comments T^T, and I’m glad you both found something fun in the loop :D
This is a really satisfying and relaxing game! The art is very appealing! I especially enjoy the moments when I'm taking out tons of fish (sounds a bit evil, haha). I think the pacing could be slightly faster—especially later in the game—maybe by lowering the upgrade costs or making the upgrades feel more impactful. While I can see the upgrades working, they don't seem to make a big difference to my income. Perhaps one thing that might be missing is an upgrade that increases the value of each fish hunted.
OMG this game is really hard and make me recall the games like Jump King. This game has a lot of potential, but I think you can lower down the difficulty a bit for the earlier stag of the game. You may also consider making the text glowing, they are really hard to read with the double jump setup. Good work!
Made this quick game—play as a guard in animal kingdom catching sneaky disguised aliens !
