I know that you mean. I actually did try this game some time ago. It reminded me of Neal Stephenson's Snow Crash, the 1992 Science Fiction novel that captivated all of us online multiplayer video game developers at the time. There weren't many of us. The internet was not yet the network of choice, the silly acronym, MMO, had yet to be coined, yet it was easy to imagine an alternate digital world that felt as real as the physical one. It was a good book. Well...I could have done without the snark of the main character's name - Hiro Protagonist. But it was imaginative in a manner that aligned with our own idealized views at the time.

At least I think that was Eternum. I too was feeling time slip away and found its addictive qualities disturbing because I play AVNs for arousing sex scenes that I felt were endlessly teased but not forthcoming.

In over three decades of developing games in nearly every genre, it puzzled me that game design lagged far behind advances in display technology and that so many of these advances enhanced game violence. But not eroticism. No. Erotic is called porn. The word perv has gone from being shorthand for perversion and that has gone from meaning perversion to cover sexual desire in general.

In fairness, most AVNs are porn. They play on perversion. Yet my sense of Eternum, based on just a score of hours playing it, was that its aims were deeper. But, as I dimly recall, the main characters were little more than children. Teenagers. High school students. My least favorite time of life 馃槅 But I popped over here to see if, perhaps, it had been upgraded in quality over what I remembered.

Bottom line, beyond any standards of image quality, character rigging, and animation, I'm not the audience for these games. My idea of an MC is never featured in an AVN. The MCs are never clever, refined, educated, accomplished men who are impeccably dressed, know the difference between a Rubens and a Rembrandt, take equally sophisticated women to exotic locales, never ask for the English menu at a French restaurant, and knows his wines. Someone with class, not just a huge penis. At least he鈥檚 not an unemployed sewer worker as in Leap of Faith. 馃檮

These games seemed to be aimed at young - very young - people. I don't understand. If you're young, horny, keep you weight down, and just stay in shape, why not just....you know...have sex? The other young and horny people out there want to have sex too. But I used to say the same thing about ERP in online games. And I came of age at a very different time. Something has changed that I fail to perceive 馃槈

Thanks!

And I know the game has a devoted fanbase.

I think my problem may be the first adult video game I played - NLT's Treasure of Nadia. Yes, the silly-large male member nonsense covers a large variety of writing shortcomings. But the animations and sound were good as was the shader they used. But then these Ren"Py scripted AVNs were a shock!  I'm a retired video game dev and was not prepared for the whole silent movie thing and character rigging that would get you fired - or, rather, not hired - in a game studio. 馃槅

I did find some good ones but I reached a point where I just had to have sound during sex scenes, and ambient music that was actual ambient music, not pop songs. 馃槪 Well...and character rigging with the proper inserts to enable realistic body and muscle deformation with movement. Okay, okay, I'm a leg guy and, damn, there'd be nice legs in standing static renders. Sometimes. But never, it seemed, when the gal moved.

But I'm rambling. And I appreciate a good story. That aspect was the rarest quality of all I've found in AVNs

Thanks for getting back to me!

I will indeed swing back in a few months. 馃

There's only one question I ask anymore regarding erotic AVNs:

Does it have sound? I don't mean music. I mean sound - environmental, and erotic vocalizations.

Not saying it's bad if it doesn't. It's just not for me. And if it does, and does it well, heck, name your price and I'll happily pay it.

Thank you  馃

I was completely lost in this game, and I played it for several hours yesterday. Resorted to walkthroughs and still I felt stuck in a loop despite following all the advice offered. And there's a LOT.

Not saying it's bad. It just didn't click with me. Progression felt random because there was a pattern to it I could not discern.

Normally I play these and follow up with a contribution on Patreon. I do this even with games that I did not like. But this was different. I felt like the game was inaccessible to me. Day after day, short-short days, on a loop with only occasional events here and there, and actions I was told to take in the little notebook that I never could, such as showering with Rae despite maxxing out my stats with her.

It's as if there's some code to this game I never grasped.

Not saying this to condemn the game. I only offer this as feedback. I *wanted* to play it and *wanted* to like it.

Ah - so you know full well why we can't get what we want in these silly games - it's HARD WORK. And, when you say you have some basic animation understanding but computer languages make your brain hurt, then you understand why some AVNs do one thing well and other things poorly. Because we're all built this way: good at certain things and not-so-good to gawdawful at others. Most AVNs are made by one person. Therefore...馃槈

It's why video games are best made by TEAMS!

Thus I marvel at some AVN creators who can get multiple things right. Classy Lemon, creator of Projekt Passion, can write humor like a mainstream comedy writer, create the most outrageous sex scenes that are both arousing yet make fun of the human sex drive, and create stories that can make you weep. Plus he does things with Ren"Py that no one else can do. Not saying everyone else sucks. Not by any means. It's just almost weird that just one guy can do so many things so well. It's not normal 馃槅

And not everyone even likes his games. Most folks go for those horribly vanilla gals in bikinis who all somehow look the same (to me) and are barely legal. Too young to be interesting (to me). And rely on the magic, stallion-sized penis because they can't write seduction dialog. Just about everything a male MC in almost every goddamn AVN says is, thus, moronic. But when the gals see the magic cock....oy vey!

In short, AVNs or games with lots of sex sit off in the far corner of the culture and the market. Whereas violence, even extreme violence, complete with dismemberment and blood vapor particle effects...that's just fine 馃

(1 edit)

You misunderstood me.

LitRPG is a genre of writing. They're fantasy novels.

What I described is how most AVNs are assembled. Though I can't be sure. I developed all sorts of games for all sorts of platforms for three decades. I've never even thought of creating an AVN but I did examine the scripting language used for most of them. Putting them together is complex even if our desires are not 馃槅

Most are developed by individuals using their home computers. A single render can take hours and fail at the last minute. The places I worked for had ROOMS full of computers for that, called render farms.

For animations, that takes some skill. Not only do you have to rig the character, but if you mean to animate it, that's a painstaking process. If you're looking for realism you need to include inserts into muscle groups, often called bones, to serve as attachments, much the way your muscles have attachments to actual bones, so that muscles deform with movement that makes sense. If done right, muscles will appear to flex (deform) with movement as our bodies do. VERY FEW AVN creators have either the skills or the time to do this, much less to animate the characters well. This is why motion capture is still used in game animation but that's outside the realm of an indie budget.

Thus muscular women are rendered as if they're wearing plastic body suits. Muscles are fixed, rigid, and look...well...not great. Knees, elbows, wrists, and ankles often look absurd too.

This is why sex scenes are pretty limited in AVNs. Everyone wants more of them for every gal. And no one wants to see a gorgeous gal killed. That's a kink too far. There's one in Episode 2 that frankly bothered me because the list of evil things that young woman covered in tats was supposed to have done didn't make sense. Plus she was hot 馃槈

In short, while our desires are simple, creating them in computer animation is anything but, alas.

You're now entering the realm os LitRPG - fiction novels with stories based on imaginary and idealized MMOs. It's actually a thing. And an old friend of mine made a pretty good living at it.

What I mean is that what you'd prefer may make perfect sense. Had it been my game, the setting would be Erigone, Rahia would be the MC, and the game would feature combat between the Acarhyn factions. But no killing of those meltingly gorgeous warrior women. No. The loser would have to fuck the winner 馃槅 All girl-girl action, all the time, savage action too 馃槏A bit of BDSM, some St. Andrew's crosses, ball gags, various restraints, whips and...sorry...I sort of drifted off point there 馃槣

Kidding aside, most Ren"Py scripted games are a combination of the old room-based adventure game design and decision trees. Choosing X opens up options Y and Z etc. Room-based design is simply a subset of possibilities based on imaginary locations. You enter a room, are presented with decisions and options in that room, and you can leave the room once certain tasks/decisions have been made.

TLDR: These games are complex decision tree webs that can grow exponentially more complex with each decision the player makes, with text for each decision, and scripted actions triggered by some decisions. Hence the "rooms" to create manageable decision tree subsets.

They're not called decision trees in Ren'Py scripting which is based on the Python computer language. It's called something else... decision logic or somesuch. But it's the same thing. It precludes allowing players to just move characters around and change the story at will.

You can avoid relationships and still have a harem. With Ziv just don't go to the pond on the Amazon warrior women planet after she puts the white water flower on your bed. Sex with Renae can be avoided through dialog as well. Same with Thyia. In fact you have to be extra pushy with her to have sex with her after the quicky when you first meet her.

I believe Celine will come around if you're truthful with her and propose a harem. She'll need to think on it. She won't be happy at first, but she'll come around.

And while I agree that Rahia and the muscular warrior gals are VERY appealing, they have their own planet, their own culture and see you largely as a warm, fleshy sex toy. You cannot recruit them onto your crew.

Plus, according to Perv, we won't be seeing Rahia again until Episode 3. The blonde gal who leads the priest class (I forget her name) makes appearances in Episode 2 but you cannot interact with her. I didn't want to. Her daughter, otoh....but sadly she's not in the picture in this episode.

I'm assuming of course that you have Episode One because you referenced the hot warrior gals.

Yes you can avoid getting the gals pregnant either through dialog choices or your suggested way, BY NOT IMPREGNATING THEM 馃槅

But to be safe in the relationships, I'd go the dialog route too. Perveteer is all about the kinks, hence his "stage name." Sex with pregnant women is a kink. Not mine or yours but kinks are like that. You can't understand a kink you don't have. 馃槈

I've done a couple of playthroughs and I don't think you can save her in Episode 2. Nor am I convinced she's truly and finally dead.

The kid (MC) went through the same "enhancement" process as his useless sack-of-shit father. He has powers now, innocently acquired of course. As that power was, in part, acquired through Eva's "life force," he'll likely return some to bring Eva back. At least that's the time-honored pattern of such narratives 馃

Eva's role is the perpetual damsel in distress. You have to keep increasing the distress. Yet if she dies, the whole narrative falls apart.

Thus I doubt Perv will kill Eva off. That wouldn't be the death of a character. It would be the death of the franchise.

Sorry for what will seem a spoiler. But I'll blame you for it, LOL!

I have a question that's been driving me nuts in AVNs and I hope you can answer it, Perverteer.

Legs. For some guys it's boobs, for others it's butts, for me it's legs. And they rarely look good or even like legs in AVNs.

I know something of rigging from my days as a dev but I wasn't an artist. My focus on rigging was required because I led teams and I only trusted the schedules I put together. Thus I needed to know how things were done, in detail, so that I could budget time properly.

The tool was usually Maya. Expensive. Hell, the first versions of Maya came with dongles, one per licence. But I'm told that Blender can do most of what Maya can do.

Yes, rigging is time-consuming. But you can rig legs so that the muscles deform properly with movement. Yet every AVN I play has these fixed, perma-flexed clefts in the abdomens and upper thighs of muscular women. To me, they look ridiculous and not sexy.

Thus, getting to the freaking at long last, why is this the case even in outstanding AVNs such as yours?

Thanks!

I feel your frustration 馃サ

Here are a couple of links that might help you.

First, this is what I call the military marching orders type. It lists the specific steps you can take to get the most gals at the end.

https://www.yekbot.com/sisterly-lust-walkthrough-achievement-guide-harem-ending/

If you find, as I do, that it also takes the fun out of it, here's a link to a walkthrough. I do like these because you can refer to them when you feel stuck or uncertain but you don't have to be a slave to it.

https://www.scribd.com/document/439650484/Sisterly-Lust-walkthrough

That one will show you the walkthough but it won't let you download the PDF without a paid subscription. What I did was simply copy and paste it into Word and save it as a PDF.

The goal here with each gal is to build up trust and corruption. Trust, so that they like you, and corruption so that they'll be open to having sex with you 馃槅

If you don't have Word, you can just cut and paste the text into Notepad and save it in that form.

And I'm sure Sabine was no random reference either 馃槈

Your question is a bit vague but the opera scene is part of the story, not a flashback. It's part of romancing the mother.

As for getting all the girls at the end, walkthroughs are available as free PDFs if you Google for them. Either that or avoid breaking up with anyone and use step back key (mouse wheel works in most cases) whenever you make a choice that loses you affection with the woman you're speaking with.

Although never true in life, Ren'Py allows you to take back what you say. It's the scripting language of forgiveness 馃槈

(1 edit)

No, no, no, no, no - I am not asking you to fix bugs on that game...noooooooo! 馃槺

As I said, I'm an ancient, retired video game dev and I was curious. So, I simply grabbed Ren'Py to see how sound is handled as it's always awkward in EVERY game that uses it

And it didn't take long to see why 馃槅 The now ancient SCUMM scripting setup had more sound options! Plus, as I said, it's an acronym for Scene Creation Utility for Maniac Mansion - a game made in the '80s. Then again, some are pretty irrelevant, such as the use of MIDI music, but I digress.

Stay on course Perverteer! 馃殌 Especially now that some...not great person already posted the ending to Episode Two here 馃が

(1 edit)

OMG - just finished Sisterly Lust and, my goodness, Perverteer, the ending wasn't Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (the musical), it was seven brides for ONE brother, meaning it's the source material. The original source material. Plutarch's abduction of the Sabine women  馃槃馃槀馃ぃ

And I have a feeling you were well aware of that. Anyone who creates a scene where the son takes his soon-to-be lover mother to Richard Strauss's opera, Salome, must know. Heck, Milley's girlfriend is even named Sabine. 馃槈

You are one very clever perv 馃

(1 edit)

Oh I know. Music but no sound... no environmental sound. Or, to be more precise, no sound environment.

What I was wondering is whether there are any limitations in the Ren'Py scripting language that makes it difficult to create a proper 3D sound environment? It appears that you can only designate specific sound files to play at specific times at specific volumes. It doesn't seem to have a way to set up 3D sound but I've only glanced at it.

As for Sisterly Lust certain sounds just don't go away, such as the one for the remote control vibrator. But I've experienced this in other Ren'Py games too.

That persistent low thrumming sound for the remote control vibrator was also highly amusing. In the early days of cinema, episodes of serials would run before the main feature. One very popular series in the silent movie days was The Perils of Pauline - you know, the one where the gal is tied to the railroad tracks with a train approaching as the signature cliffhanger. In Sistery Lust it's the Embarrassments of Bella 馃槅 You'd hear that sound followed by a shocked or otherwise tortured shot of Bella. I have no idea how I got on that path with that character but it was hilarious at times 馃槣

I usually just turn off game sound. AVNs are generally in the equivalent of their silent movie era.

I had wondered for some time why there was no sound in this series. Well, now I know.

Was playing Sisterly Lust. It has sound. But not for the first time I encountered strange bugs. Certain sounds that wouldn't go away ever. Sounds that played outside their designated context - e.g. sex sounds playing too soon or too late.

Given that I'd seen this before in Ren'Py scripted games, I had to conclude that it's not quite cooked when it comes to sound environments.

I wouldn't know. The last scene management scripting language I used was way back in the days of SCUMM - Scene Creation Utility for Maniac Mansion 馃槅 Long, long ago...and quite briefly.

But I digress. Clearly sound is a PITA for these games, sadly.

Oh yes, there's this touching vulnerability in Thyia, beneath multiple layers of marble-hard personal armor, that got to me in her first scene in Episode One. Thus making that scene so....well...to put it in a British way, I won't say I wept, but I will not say I did not 馃槈

It's good writing.

Oh, what I should do is what I used to do with games I downloaded from Itch - make a payment. But that option appears to have gone away. I'll just pop over to your Patreon and make a payment there...while I still can...heaven knows when the mob will go after them!

Thanks! 馃

It works just fine if I choose the gallery from the main menu.

What I love about this episode thus far is that oh, man, he's got a LOT of explaining to do 馃槅

And the tribute to the old two orcs and an elf porn trope had me laughing pretty hard. Though not as hard as when he questions the prisoner and YOU JUST KNOW how that's going to end.  Ah, but Kim knows 馃槃 His adventure with the slug that he recounts...he indeed is the MC's best buddy!

You and Classy Lemon have marvelous imaginations I must say.

The restaurant scene with Thyia otoh was very moving. Her dream of the white wedding dress...damn, I should stfu before I spew spoilers.

Okay, first bug report. I get an exception screen when I try to open the gallery.. If I choose Ignore it takes me back to the game. Here's the report:

I was dismayed at the manufactured drama regarding Season Two on Steam and I hope the GOG submission goes better for you.

It's strange but I'm used to it...over 30 years as a video game dev for nearly every genre, including the first MMO back in the '80s and you just can't explain to people that pixel behavior never translates into meat-space behavior. Or, in the proper context, nobody is going to play this game and then think it would be a fine idea to screw their sister 馃槅

But enough pontificating. 馃

Some time ago, before I stopped following the AVN lovers corner of Reddit, I posted a nifty photo spread of Rahia there because...well...just because. You told me that we wouldn't be getting any more Amazon warrior women until the NEXT season, alas.

Thanks for this free version! It somehow found my last save from Season One and here I go again 馃槈

If things don't go well with GOG I will find a way to pay for this. If they do, I'll simply buy it there.
