Yeah, I didn't put much effort into performance for the game jam, since it had been playing pretty well on my machine. I did go back in after the jam and added in coroutines and that helped a lot. Thanks.

Regarding stiffness, I just mean that it was sometimes hard to get precise horizontal movement in areas where it would be helpful, like when jumping up through the cloud platforms, I would jump and then tap the D-pad to the side just barely to land on a platform, but it would sometimes lurch me forward further than expected. Similarly, in the area where you go down through the spikes on the platform, I would just barely tap the D-pad, trying to move over just a tiny bit to avoid the spikes, but the character would often slide to the side much more than expected.

Nice hand-drawn art and fun dialogs with the characters. This is a fun concept that, although reminded me a bit of the game “Overcooked!”, I could see this being a fun mobile game where you become rich (or lose everything), based on having to learn which type of characters want which types of items, and figuring out the best way to price things, and then you could upgrade your shop to unlock different items and power-ups, etc, etc.

A few issues I ran into: The buying screen was a bit confusing, since there are question marks in some places, and because prices don't have dollar signs. At one point, I bought 4 arrows from a guy for $13, then placed them on the table and he immediately bought them back for $15. Sometimes I can’t click on an item right away when I’m trying to place it on a table. It takes a few seconds before I can interact with it.

Overall, nice job! I'd love to see an expanded version of this some day.

How much of the artwork is yours? There appears to be a few different art styles in use. Overall a fun game, and just went I started thinking to myself “I wish there was a little more strategy.”, that’s when the game changed up from just slashing a few monsters to having to cut ropes (or not cut ropes) to help the hero get to the end. It’s an interesting take on the theme. You don’t get to control the hero, but you are still trying to help the hero win the game. Clever! At one point, I ran into a bug where the hero fell off a ledge when the dragon was chasing him, but the level kept progressing (moving to the right) and then I got stuck at the end of the level. Would be nice to see a bit more difficulty progression, such as allowing you to kill monsters early on with just one slash rather than 3. I understand this is one of the hurdles of the game having to kill the monsters quickly enough, I just feel like it shouldn’t take 3 slashes to kill a snake or baby slime :)

Interesting, creepy story and well written. You are a talented writer. I read it while listening to your suggested Boards of Canada music, which helped set the mood well. The only issue I saw was that a couple pages referenced things that I had never heard of before, so maybe I missed clicking on some links. I had also never heard of Twine before, so I’ll have to check that out. Nice work!

Fun story line. Cute graphics. Fun music fits the game. Good level design. Challenging but not impossible. It's clever that you start on the final level and go back to the beginning to find the hero. In general, the controls are a bit hard to get used to, and controlling the character feels a little stiff (if you want specifics, let me know and I can elaborate). Overall, you've got a fun game, and with some fine-tuning of the controls, it would be even more enjoyable!
