I liked your spin of a tamagotchi like. There is the component of making sure the pet is well looked after, with food, medicine and sleep and it has direct consequence, as the player slows down when the needs are not met. I liked that.
I really liked:
- The story telling, there is a reason we are looking after the animals.
- The graphic style
- I liked the movement and the fog of war. The enemies can be challenging but not over powering
I struggled with:
- The pace. A tamagotchi-like is for me more of a chill game. The constant movement and no rest made it more stressful than I would have liked.
I can see this getting addictive. I like the idea of power ups, the massive paddle was fun. But I played until the third boss, and I had the feeling the difficulty did not increase. I have played pong before and usually the ball speeds up with every level giving you a run for your money and that is a feeling I was missing. The Opponent struggle, but me with my massive magnetic paddle, easy! And more balls, the moments where three balls are on the field and another three spawn and then they spawn really quickly because hits are counted not hits per ball, I feel there is a lovely chance to make this utter chaotic and hilarious. Maybe something worth exploring? Oh, an occasional bonus level, where you cant die, but also have a ton of balls? Sorry, I am rambling. Nice work!
I like the split mechanics and the music. The little blocks have together to cover the buttons and open the door.
There is a little bug, when you are just left of a border and split, the little one will spawn on the wall and is able to move on the walls until it "falls" of the walls. I would have liked a reset level button, so that if one is in an impoosible situation, one can reset and just retry that level.
First time plating a rhythm game for me! And boy did I struggle. Iwas never clear on what beat I was supposed to click. Maybe make them in a different colour in the top row, that would take the guessing out of it?
But apart from utterly failing (I never got more than 31% on the first level) I really anjoyed the challenge and the MUSIC! Oh and the microbes bouncing into each other? Fab! Maybe I just enjoyed that too much to care about the rhythm ;)
I loved the intro and story! And the music, it really helped with immersion in the game.
But I really struggle with the shift/dash mechanic. The dash would only activate if the direction was clicked after the shift had been pressed, which meant that I needed to release the direction key, which was just too complicated for my fingers.
Thanks for the comments. I will tweak the collision boxes of the obstacles. Clearly I was too strict.
There is currently no sound, but I might add some at least for the collisions. I had troubles with the export to an web app which messed with the resolution and obstacle placement. This is definitely something I want to fix.
