Just released my first video discussing what I will be doing and a mini-devlog of the game it isn't great but I gotta force myself to post something cause otherwise I will sit on it for weeks and never get anything done but definitely gonna start doing shorter stuff til I get a better handle on editing and recording videos.

Just released a quick patch for the game so the drill should now persist when you come back to that mine and the game should not kickout of full screen unless you hit escape.

Additionally if anyone knows how to have escape not undo full screen on itch please let me know cause that's how you open the settings menu and it just kicks you out of full screen and I'm not sure how to fix that :'(

Thank you so much for the feedback! I will try and fix the issues with the drill and full screen when switching between mines. As well I will add an indicator as to what button should be used inside the forge (I swapped it to the space bar cause I feel it makes it easier for timing but I agree there should be an indication of that somewhere)

When it comes to the upgrades for auto miners and the crafted gemstones I wanted to add some upgrades that you could be bought with the crafted gemstones to have the associated mine continue to run in the background and gather materials but I was on a time crunch so I had to scrap it in order to get the initial release out within my 1 month time limit but now that its out I think while I start getting working on Month 2's game I may also add and fix some stuff here on Just a Game About Mining.

I also really like your idea of instead of having a unique icon for each smithy to have just one that you then can drag or select the gems you want to craft onto the anvil I think that would make it a lot more memorable and satisfying.

I plan to release a short devlog on this game and introduction to my challenge in the next few days so if you're interested the links will be put in the games description :)

I just added some additional tooltips next to the cards because my guess is that people are getting confused with what to click to start an attack so I added a text box pointing to it to help direct the player a bit.

If you don't mind me asking exactly which part was confusing you so I can help fix it.

This is one of the coolest concepts I have seenin a game jam let alone in 3 days.  I really enjoyed being able to make my own dinos and its so impressive you made this. The only issue I had was it took a while to get money and I would be mid drawing and run out and my poor dino would have a few missing parts. Even with that though I think this is such a cool concept and would love to see where it goes if you keep working on it.

This game was really cool and I loved watching the bones spin around while carrying them. I did have the rib cage phase out of existence but other than that I really enjoyed it.

You are all good I just updated it with the tutorial and I fixed a game breaking bug that snuck in when doing last minute adjustments before submitting. Thanks for the comment and for playing :)

Yea this is definitely something I need to work on since I always kinda neglect the cover art whether it’s due to lack of time or whatever but I’m learning marketing is a really important but often overlooked facet of game development that shouldn’t be forgotten. Thanks for your advice!

This is my third ever game jam and I had a blast with it but one thing I always notice in game jams is just how many more rating some games get then others and I was hoping to get everyone’s feedback/opinion on what you personal look for or how you choose which games to rate. Is it about the cover art? Title? You found it on the needs rating list and looked at the lowest or highest rated games? Do you have to download it? I think it would useful for everyone here to be able to share and/or hear what makes a game attractive to play and rate and how they can improve the amount of people seeing their game. Appreciate anyone’s feedback, advice or comments just hoping to make a space where we can discuss and learn on how to improve “marketability” which I feel doesn’t get discussed very often in the context of game jams.

I was not ready for the Boss fight at the top and immediately got the plague and then shot. 10/10 great game

I really like how simple and clean the art and music is.  Really fun game great job I love all the doodle dinos.

I really enjoyed playing this and the art, music and sfx were really good. Seriously great job on this. My only comment would be after the first couple rounds it doesn't feel like you risk anything cause you have more money than you could use but I think it could be cool if you keep working on it and add some upgrades and maybe a boss fight or something. (Idk if this is related but at the top it kept saying Start round 1 no matter where I was in it so idk if thats a visual bug or its only staying on the first stage). Anyways great job on the game :)

I love the art style for this my only problem right now is I can't full screen it so I don't know the controls or how the drill works. I think you can enable full screen in the games page under the resolution.  This game looks really interesting and I wanna come back and give it a full playthrough later :).

I've gotten multiple comments about it so sorry for the confusion with getting rid of the controls but it is [T] to toggle the controls on and off.

Oh yea it says in the top left to use [T] to toggle controls but it could be a problem seeing if you're not in full screen.
