that's great to hear! definitely going to be looking into that when it comes out

this game is fantastic, i just wish the voices weren't all ai, plus the poor translations hinder it a bit
but if the translations were fixed and the voices replaced with real people, i think this could actually be an absolutely excellent game
i've only just barely finished chapter 1, and damn, there's 5 of these? genuinely crazy how much game there is here haha
Good:
- Very nice lighting system
- The cramped environments make you feel very claustrophobic
- Lore hooked me quick
Bad:
- PDAs are always shown in the exact same order, I'd prefer if every body had its own PDA, that way you could even use a body to warn the player of an upcoming hazard
- Death is too quick and punishing, I'd recommend spikes just take a bit off your oxygen rather than sending you straight to the beginning, or add some checkpoints (e.g. when you get the depth upgrade)
I had a blast with this one, it was amazing! This was the first game I've played from this jam and I'm honestly not sure if anything's going to top this! Also, noticed this is a fairly similar game loop to my last game jam game, ISOLATION, so I'm kinda curious if it's inspiration or coincidence ngl.
Good:
- Amazing visuals
- Nice game page
- Fun gameplay
- Makes me feel on edge
Bad:
- At first, it's a little hard to know where to enter the submarine, but I did manage to figure it out (maybe remove the front light, it's a little misleading)
- Not bad, really, but I was able to pretty easily outrun the monster by just stockpiling gears, maybe make the monster a tad faster, or have a higher difficulty mode?
- I kinda wish I got some story at the end, or at least got to explore the lab a little bit (maybe before the monster arrives), rather than just "you reached the lab" followed by a green sprite jumping at me (couldn't tell what it is)
- Though with the time constraints I understand why you weren't able to do this
Overall, this is an amazing game and I'll be shocked if it doesn't even get in the top 10. I would honestly say you could keep updating the game and make it a bit better (especially with something at the end).
i did try to get a bit of a tutorial in via my notification system (text in top right)
also the machines
- computer terminal near the door runs a flash in the fuel tank, stunning the parasite inside that eats your fuel
- also takes 30s to charge
- other machine at the end of the hall is the ship controls and starts/stops the ship
- gives a notification when you do so as wel
and if you're still having difficulties figuring out the 2d area, there's a small asteroid to the left of the ship that you stand near to fill the fuel bar
thanks on the graphics and atmosphere!
the gameplay's probably lacking because it took me a while to figure out how exactly the game was going to play out
by the time i figured that out, i was nearing the deadline -w-
i did add a few things beyond just managing 2 bars
- after halfway through, you have a chance to get toxins when entering your ship, which you have to leave and vent out to continue breathing
- there's a parasite in your fuel tank which you have to flash every now and then, which gets more aggressive 1-1.5km into the journey
the bad
- pixel inconsistencies
- easily exploitable with an autoclicker
- generally uninteresting gameplay
- just repetitively clicking doesn't really count as gameplay
- the wood building doesn't look like it'd produce wood, but rather food
the good
- the game page is fairly interesting
- the pieces of art on their own do look good
please don't let my poor review discourage you from making games! i want to be clear that just because you make one bad game doesn't mean the others are going to be bad. hell you could make 100 bad games but it's that 1 good game that really matters
pretty interesting concept! though i feel it could use some work
- pixel inconsistencies
- if there's a way to know when you take damage, then the enemies can get awfully close before you take any damage
- since the goal of the game is to just follow the arrow, and enemies are very easily evaded, the game is laughably easy
- also didn't get a lot of time with the other mechanics
- the shooting islands seem to only be able to shoot in one direction, which is pretty annoying
not all bad, though
- very interesting concept, like i already said
- the background effect with the further things moving slower looks great (forgot what it was called)
fairly interesting game, though i have a few gripes with it
- controls feel a little unresponsive, sometimes i press the movement key too quick and it ignores my input
- there's not a whole lot of levels (only 3 or 4 iirc) so you don't get much time to get invested in the mechanics
- there's not a whole lot of mechanics in the first place
- pink guy
- spring
- the music is a little painful to listen to, especially over a few minutes
- visual designs feel a little all over the place
though it wasn't all bad
- though not the best level design, the puzzles weren't necessarily bad
- it's an interesting use of the theme
well, i certainly don't start with the slightest hint as to what to do, that's for sure
lets start off with what's gone wrong
- title screen buttons are not centered
- title screen has no title
- going into settings then exiting (while on title screen) sends you into the game
- there's only 2 places to enter, one person to talk to (who speaks in russian, which most will not understand), and nothing to interact with. i'm starting to wonder if there's even a game here
- going inside zooms in too much
- pixel inconsitencies with the background
- changing the volume doesn't change the volume
and what went right
- i mean at least it's not mspaint graphics?
nice game, though there are a few flaws, mostly doing with your communication to the player
- there's no clear way to see your health
- it's difficult to see how far an attack is hitting, the strong attack is way wider than the animation alone suggests
- the player feels too slippery, especially when you get hit and sent halfway across the leaf
aside from that i do have good things to say about the game as well
- the art is wonderful, kudos to the artist, especially doing it in such a short time
- this is a very unique take on the islands theme, glad to see more games not just doing the literal islands in the ocean idea
