The World of Flammae is freezing... and you are its last spark.

Ember Rite is a precision platformer currently in development using Godot 4.6. You play as a small coal golem—a tool of divine precision—tasked with restoring the sacred furnaces to bring thermal balance back to a fractured world.

Inspired by the tight mechanical feel of Celeste, the game revolves around a core Thermodynamic Loop: you must absorb heat to survive frozen wastes and release it to manipulate the environment, melt barriers, or activate ancient machinery.

⚠️ A Note on Collaboration

This is a hobbyist, unpaid project built by a passionate indie team for portfolio-building and the love of the genre. Our goal is a future release on Steam/Itch.io with a Revenue Share model (sharing profits if the game generates income). If you are looking for a salaried position, this is not the project for you!

🔎 Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for dedicated collaborators who want to build a standout portfolio piece:

1. Pixel Art Animators (Character & Objects) We need artists specialized in frame-by-frame animation and Sprite Sheet creation.

  • Characters: Create fluid animations for the protagonist’s move set (8-direction dash, variable jumps, wall-sliding).
  • Interactive Props: Animate environmental elements like igniting furnaces and steam-powered traps.
  • Technical: Experience with high-contrast palettes for dynamic lighting environments.

2. Programmers (Godot / GDScript)

  • Focus on physics-based movement, "Coyote time," jump buffering, and core heat-management logic.

3. VFX Artists (Pixel Art / Particles)

  • Creating visual feedback for heat absorption, steam, and embers.

We aren't just "starting"—we have a solid roadmap:

  • GDD v1.0: A complete Game Design Document (Lore, Mechanics, and Level Pillars).
  • Dev Ready: A collaborative GitHub repository is set up and active.
  • Core Prototype: Basic movement and dynamic lighting are already functional.

Inspired by Celeste, the game focuses on:

  • Tight, responsive movement (8-direction dash, wall jump, variable jump)

  • A core heat management mechanic that drives gameplay decisions

  • Minimalist environmental storytelling

  • Pixel art enhanced by dynamic lighting (the protagonist acts as a moving light source)

We’re currently searching for collaborators who want to help build this project:

🌎 Language

We are Spanish speakers (native), but we can communicate in English as well.
Spanish speakers are very welcome, and English speakers are too — language will not be a barrier as long as communication is clear and collaborative.

¡Hola! Soy programador y tester júnior y busco unirme a un proyecto de juego independiente y adquirir experiencia práctica.

Actualmente estoy aprendiendo desarrollo de juegos y estoy especialmente interesado en proyectos pequeños a medianos , demostraciones, prototipos o juegos en etapa inicial donde la colaboración y el aprendizaje son parte del proceso.

En qué puedo ayudar:

  • Programación básica y scripting (Unity / Godot)

  • Lógica y sistemas de juego (mecánicas simples, estados, interacciones)

  • Pruebas de errores y comentarios

  • Iterando sobre características existentes

  • Proporcionar retroalimentación orientada al diseño desde una perspectiva de jugador/prueba

Herramientas y habilidades:

  • Unidad (experiencia básica)

  • Godot (experiencia básica)

  • Python (pensamiento orientado a la lógica)

  • Familiarizado con el uso responsable de herramientas de IA para acelerar el aprendizaje y la creación de prototipos (siempre reviso y comprendo el código)

Lo que estoy buscando:

  • Un equipo o individuo con una idea o dirección clara

  • Buena comunicación y expectativas realistas.

  • Un proyecto en el que puedo aportar mientras sigo aprendiendo.

  • Pagado o no pagado está bien, depende del alcance (soy transparente con las expectativas)

No busco a alguien que les haga todo el juego. Quiero colaborar , aprender y ayudar a impulsar un proyecto, aunque sea pequeño al principio.

Hola! Estoy interesado en el proyecto.

Soy programador y tester júnior y busco adquirir experiencia trabajando en proyectos de videojuegos reales. Tengo experiencia básica en programación y me siento cómodo aprendiendo nuevas herramientas si es necesario, incluyendo scripts y flujos de trabajo de RPG Maker.

Puedo ayudar con programación, sistemas básicos, pruebas y también con la redacción o el diálogo si resulta útil. Me interesa especialmente empezar con un proyecto pequeño o una demostración y crecer a partir de ahí.
