As a working professional my time is already stretched thin as it is so often times the longer the better.

48-72 hour jams are fun, but they're too big a commitment for me most of the time and require well-in-advanced planning even though it's my preferred length. Typically though, the sweet spot is around 14 days (2 weeks) for me, as it allows me time to get in some coding through the evenings in the week, and a bit throughout the weekend.

Thanks Sam, my rift animations were nothing compared to your absolutely brilliant and hilarious intro to your entry!

Thank you for the comment and the rating!

Really liked the art style on this one, and the juice added to the camera, the way when your heat was too high you'd get little psftt of the heat sink cooling the ship down, it felt really nice to play.

The only thing I think that could have benefited it, is some kind of starfield in the background, as a few times I felt myself getting a little disoriented

Honestly, this was phenomenal, loved it so much.

That intro animation had me rolling, the fact that you're an angry little bee on an unhinged rampage after getting exploiting by the queen bee is hilarious. The animations, the enemy design, it all makes for a fun challenge, while also being cute, but rage-inducing.

Once the round ended, and it transitioned to that shop? Mind blown. "Oh this is a cute game about a rampaging bee angry at the system, in a neatly animated classic bullet hell format, oh... oh damn, okay."

Really great entry, could see myself playing this a lot.

Thank you!

I'm hoping to add in a little mouse-support for the shooting once the jam submission phase is over along with a whole bunch of QoL upgrades (more visuals, more streamlined waves etc.)

Really glad you liked my very programmer-art art!

UI and menus are something I always get too... perfectionistic about, so as I was on a bit of a time crunch felt it would be neat to try out a more diegetic approach to the UI,  happy it was appreciated!

Really like this entry, nicely challenging, with a bunch of cool little additions to the genre (bonus pickups and dashes were neat).

Absolutely loved those chromatic aberration and fisheye effects, it gave a really solid retro arcade feel.

My only suggestion would be to give the dash a small little invulnerability frame, as I found myself getting a little swarmed with bullets, hoping to dash out the way only to get smacked in the face by a bullet I thought I was dashing past (oops!).

Good fun, lots of replayability, nice entry!

Thank you!

Hoping to push out a few improvements to the game after the jam, refine the arena system a little, make it a bit more challenging as I didn't quite find the time to get it polished up in time to make the submissions.

All credit to alkakrab for the great music, really found a gem there when I was putting the game together!

The concept is neat, a runner bullet hell type game.

The shape of the bike makes it pretty tricky and you have to really find yourself setting yourself up for "lines" to progress.

Minor complaint was the sound of the bike drowning out the music, but pretty minor all things considered

The idea of not having bullets to fire, but a grappling hook to drain the enemies health is really dope.

Got a little frustrated at first because as I was trying to read the tutorial it kept killing me. Could perhaps do with a pause and confirm tutorial, but once I got the concept, it was great fun.

Definitely very tech-demoish as you stated, but I think if this was fleshed out a bit, polished up and prettified this could become a great little game with a new and enjoyable concept.

Loved the blend of breakout and bullet hell, very unique, very cool, very wow, very rated.

Really like the art on this one. The gameplay was good fun too, good entry!

Really liked the way you had to manage both your own health, and the balloon too, adds a nice bit of management to just mindlessly shooting at things!

Really charming art too, nice entry :L

Very unique, really interesting concept and the audio was really nice. Made me feel like I was in an enchanted forest mixing up potions!

This was amazing, nice one :D

This was great fun, and the boss fight was neat too.

Really loved the food theme too, really gave me Hades meets Gungeon vibes with a tomato twist to it, great entry!

Thanks Pixel Dust Dev.

The Keyboard (and mouse) controls were honestly neglected during testing as I was aiming solidly for the controller experience, and it wasn't until I was in submission mode that I realised that my Xbox controllers weren't getting picked up in Chrome (and I've lost my PlayStation controller down the back of the sofa somewhere), hopefully others are finding it fine to play in browser with controller. I'm glad you did enjoy the feel of the controls, it's something I wanted to get feeling fun, but challenging, which I think I'm close to!

There's a lot of juice I didn't have time for, given I nerfed myself accidentally and signed up half way through despite anticipating this Jam for a while now lol... Hoping to get an update out soon, and having particle effects on death will add a lot to the feel of the game, so I'll definitely be making sure to get that in;; in the mean time, I've added some on-hit flashes to enemies now for that added little oomph to your hits

Appreciate the feedback

Thanks for the comment!

Yeah, by virtue of me being a bit late to sign up (half way through) there's a few little bits of polish, as well as some balancing changes I really wish I had time for.

I'm aiming to get an update out soon to fix some of the most glaring issues, such as the arena being a little... underdeveloped lol

Appreciate it, and I'm glad you enjoyed it

Totally agree, we fixed that to make it linearly time based!

This was amazing, nicely done!

Thank you for the kind words.

There's a bit of polish and some tweaking we want to do, and a couple of things to fix (fading ingredients as you mentioned) over the next little while but I'm glad you enjoyed it 🙂

Hey, half my team fell ill so have had to submit late.

First jam, but if we can't get into this one, we'll certainly join one of the next ones: https://gpc91.itch.io/cake-catchers
