WE MADE IT Y'ALL

After 5 very long years of development, the Gossamer team couldn't be more excited to share our debut title Sole.

https://gossamergames.itch.io/sole

Sole is a Flower-like adventure game where you play as the only source of light in a world shrouded in darkness. Paint your surrounding with light as you explore the ruins of an ancient civilization, transforming the environment as you uncover the secrets of an abandoned world.

Our tiny team started working on this project while we were Sophomores in college and went on to be IGF finalists for best student game. After graduating and running a small Kickstarter, we continued chipping away and started developing for desktop and consoles. Now, 5 years older and a whole lot wiser, we're so proud to finally be releasing the game TODAY on Windows, Mac, and Xbox One.

If you're into the ABZU's and the Journey's and whatnot, we really think you'll love what we did with Sole. The team's poured a tremendous amount into the game and we can't wait to hear what everyone thinks.

Thanks for reading,
- Your pals at Gossamer Games

Hey thanks so much for checking it out! Really means a lot to everyone here on the team <3
Just finished up our production schedule for the rest of the game. SO EXCITED for what we've got planned :)

Aww thanks so much! So awesome seeing people finally getting their hands on the game after working on it for sooooo long :)
Can't wait to show y'all what we've got planned for the full game! Thanks for taking the time to check it out!

Hmmm, so sorry for the trouble! Maybe check your USB devices to make sure there isn't anything the computer might be reading as an extra controller? You should definitely be able to control the camera with the right mouse button.

Indeed! Right now we haven't spent too much time putting messages in the game, but we will soon :)

Thanks so much for the kind words <3
Ahhh we've had many MANY conversations about adding a jump button, but for technical/design/thematic reasons, think we're gonna keep the player grounded. It also just feels really weird seeing something without legs jump hehe

Hehe no Linux yet! But one of our biggest goals with Sole is to make it accessible on as many platforms as possible, so we'd love to add Linux support. Nobody here on the team is super familiar with the OS so it'll take some research, but we know our engine and tools support it so it's definitely possible. We'll make sure to keep ya updated on any news!

Aww thanks so much for the kind words! Can't wait for y'all to experience the full game! :)

Ah, this is awesome! Thanks so much for checking it out. :)

Hehe, yeah we still need to update the instructions to match the input schemes. There are currently 3 input methods:
Mouse only: Left click & drag up/down on the screen to move forwards/backwards. Right click & drag to orbit the camera. You'll move whatever direction the camera is facing.
Mouse & Keyboard: Same as above but you can also move using WASD or arrow keys.
Gamepad: Left stick to move, right stick to look around.

Hmmm I'd think so! From our very basic preliminary testing, the game is more CPU intensive than GPU thanks to how we're doing the lighting effects. If you get a chance to test it out, we'd love to hear how it runs!

Awwww thanks! Truly means a lot to us.
Yeah, we still haven't fully optimized the game, so it'll probably be pretty choppy on a lot of machines. Still a lot of tricks left we'll use to improve performance in the full game. Oh and that's our custom symbol language! There will be much more of that etched across the environments in the full game. If you're a backer, you'll get the top-secret key that translates all the messages :P

Thanks for the feedback! We'll definitely look at ways to make the mouse-only controls a bit easier to manage. Maybe using the left mouse for only movement and right for camera? We were trying to go for a one-button control scheme, but know it can be a little frustrating at times.

Hey thanks so much! Our goal here was to create this hypnotic, dreamlike feeling that really draws players in, so hopefully we'll be able to capture that with Sole. Can't wait to hear your full thoughts!

Ahhh this is awesome! Thanks so much for checking it out! Can't wait to show you what we have planned for the full game :)

Hehehe thanks so much! Couldn't be more excited to finally put Sole out there for everyone to play :)

Uncover the secrets of a world lost in shadow

Sole is an abstract, aesthetic-driven adventure game where you play as the only source of light in a world shrouded in darkness. Wander through uninhabited environments, painting the land with light as you uncover its mysterious past. Explore the remnants of great cities and discover the history of an ancient civilization on your journey to restore life to an abandoned world. Sole is a heavily atmospheric and emotionally engaging gameplay experience that is accessible to audiences of all backgrounds and skill levels.

After 2.5 years of development, we've finally released the public demo!

The demo contains an alpha version of the game's second level, highlighting its exploration-driven gameplay, beautiful visuals, and haunting soundscapes. Sole is by far the most ambitious project we've ever worked on, so we're beyond thrilled to finally share it with the world. And as a brand new indie team, we would absolutely love to hear what you think! Check out the demo for yourself below and drop us a line here on itch.io or any of the usual social media channels.
