That would depend heavily on what flavor of Linux, what gamepad, drivers, etc. Unfortunately, I can't offer suggestions beyond that it's worked for us / our playtesters.

Sorry, but we don't really do a demo on this anymore. The "demo" that existed was this ancient pre-release version that, um. Well let's just say it was not good.

If you're still playing, I just uploaded the 2.0 build with the final big ol' content patch, new level and all that ;)

Oh! Sorry, not sure how I missed this comment. There's a devconsole you can enable with -devconsole, and then you can skip missions with MissionManager. commands. There's also a cheat system, but if you're on PC the console is faster.

There's key rebinding in the game, it's in the options menu. Also I'd recommend gamepad, but you can rebind gamepads too.

You're gonna fix all that with the power of being a chill little skateboarding bird. You may be tiny, but the more you skate, the more friends you’ll make. Birds will come check out your park, help you find more parks, and together you'll (somehow) fix Big Friend's life! Above all else, skate birds try their best.

Try it now. I think the settings that the GDC bundle people had me use were preventing downloads - I've thrown it into a more normal donationware mode. That work?

This should be downloadable for everyone who claimed a key (and you just can't buy it if you don't already own it, because you didn't get the relief bundle it was in). Is that not what you're seeing?

That is to say: I haven't changed anything about this since before the bundle started. It wasn't timed. It's just set to "you can't get this unless you got a key", and the keys were distributed via the bundle. So if you were able to access it before, but can't now, I'm kind of curious how? This page doesn't know anything about the bundle or the time limit it had or any of that.
