I guess we're past the rating phase of the jam but I just wanted to say this game has a ton of potential! Everything fits together really nicely, the setting is cohesive, the story was engaging. I think some of the audio needs a bit of work to make sure things loop correctly but there were tons of sounds in there that made it feel super immersive!

The camera angles were great too, was just a little disorientating because you need to change your character's direction after the switch. Overall super cool, I would definitely love to see this touched up at some point, and it was cool reading your experience with the jam in the description as well! Good luck mate :)

Pico-8! Hope you found it fun to learn, good for little projects. Cute ducks too :)

Nice job on the submission! I liked the creativity on some of the environment hazards and the fish on the sawblade, good storytelling haha. I had a little issue figuring out controls, I'm used to wasd, the "a" and "d" worked but I figured out you need to use the arrow keys. The camera can also feel very awkward at times, especially during level 2. I thought the music was pretty cool as well :)

Plays really nicely, it's gonna sound weird but I was kinda reminded of Celeste with the way the dashing works. Really fun to play around with and the sound effects were a charming touch

Only criticism I have mainly concern the way the tileset is set up, seems to be an odd layering issue? Also, maybe make the area around a sign a little bigger so you don't need to sit on the ground it's on I suppose

This is a really cool concept and it would be cool to see something more made of it, like maybe some checkpoints for a practice mode, I assume based on the speedrun timer that this is somewhat of a speedrunning game?

Great game tho :)

cheers bro B)
My teammate edited it looks like, he was super speedy on that heh

No problem man, here's our game: https://gallowjolt.itch.io/fish-you-to-the-moon-and-back-and-to-the-moon-again-k...

Had a bit of trouble with Unity building stuff :s

Hey mate, if we submit a project now can we still edit it until the deadline? Just outta curiosity, ty

I like the concept, I would find it hard to expand it though. I think the scores might be bugged a little bit, not too sure. Also the enemies stop moving when they're off the screen, can make 1 or 2 of the levels a little trivial. The level map was a nice touch tho! Solid game👍

Nice prototype! I think the camera might be a bit too zoomed into the game because everything feels very quick. The palette and sprites are really nice though

I really like the concept and the upgrades are unique! I think extending the colliders to fit the whole spacecraft would be cool, I kinda wanted to swing the ship into the planet and make it go flying lol

Solid game, gameplay is great and the post-game is a lovely feature too. I like that you can control the sound, which gets more important as the game progresses. I think audio could be improved upon, maybe some background music? Also when you select an upgrade that you can't purchase, it would be cool to have a sound effect different from the usual one which could tell the player "hey, you can't buy this right now", and maybe a sound effect for coin collection too.

Overall tho, this slaps B)

Nice job on submitting, I thought the game was a little disorientating, maybe zooming the camera out a bit might help, or having a border on the map boundary so we know when we're about to loop over to the other side would be cool. I thought the drift mechanic was sick, makes me wonder what a more momentum-based Asteroids game might feel like :P

Ah also when you get game over, the final score can update and increase, I think it's probably based on how the map wraps around along with the bullets still moving. Great attempt tho, had a blast playing it!! (also RIP to your 'h' key :( )

Nice game, looks like it has a lot of potential! I think the biggest problem for me was just not knowing what some buttons did, like clicking on the pig names at the top left of the screen and the lasers on the spaceship.

I like the art direction though, it would have been nice to see some of the elements pop up depending on when they should show up, it could make for a nice sci-fi computer interface maybe? Good submission! 👍

The jokes write themselves

Rational and valid, my apologies

Had a huge smile on my face the whole time playing it, perfect execution on the theme from what I can see, amazing stuff overall

Really solid game, loved the art and sounds especially. Gave me Celeste vibes weirdly enough haha

Nice idea, had a lotta fun with this simple mechanic! I think making it easier to rotate the jar would be a good idea but that's just me lol

Great game! Really liked the concept of avoiding after a certain point and then suddenly doing the opposite, would love to see more of that kind of game. I would love to see this developed further, maybe having gold multipliers for reaching the end of your current max depth based on the fishing line used.

Definitely one of my favourite games this jam, wonderful work guys

Fun little game, the passive risk mechanic with choosing your path through the level was very clever

I love the concept however I think it loses a bit of momentum with how janky the movement can feel. I also felt that the wings were kinda trivialising a lot of the level sections after I obtained them. Still had a ton of fun though!

Cool little game. Really liked the kitchen-themed obstacles and the audio was nice. It would have been really cool to see a game over screen when the timer runs out. Also I think there may be an issue with the friction because I'm sticking to the sides of platforms. Still a solid entry though, congrats!

Unfortunate that you ran out of time, I can't really give it a super high rating unfortunately but from what I read of the rules and the bit of interaction there is, I like the concept. I'm thinking as well it might actually work more nicely as a physical board game? Just a suggestion of course :)

I was a little confused about how to go about solving the puzzles themselves, never had the brain for cyber security I suppose haha

The visuals were nice, I liked that you had an option to toggle the CRT. It kinda says to me that you know the visual style is in a direction that some people won't vibe with and you've thought of a kind of compromise which I appreciate. I think the CRT filter kinda obscures some details myself but I love that unique style you have going there. Almost a risk in of itself but I think it pays off for you there :)

Nice game!

UI artist here ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

Hate. Let me tell you how much I've come to hate jamming since I began to jam. There are 387.44 million pixels of displayed images in wafer thin layers that fill my hard drive. If the word 'hate' was engraved on each micropixel of those hundreds of millions of pixels it would not equal one one-billionth of the hate I feel for jamming at this micro-instant. For jam. Hate. Hate.

Nice game, the looping commands mechanic reminded me a lot of Opus Magnum. I think the extra challenges with activating the campfires were a nice touch.

The only criticisms I have are that I think it would be nice for the UI to move with the selected command field or to have a highlight graphic that shows which field you are currently interacting with, and maybe give the commands themselves more saturated colours, they currently blend in a little with the rest of the game imo. Nice entry though!

Dangerously addictive, as all great idle games are. Great work!

This is a super interesting concept already, and one that I could see being a real hit with some more features. Maybe a multiplayer option?

I had initially forgotten about the previous ghosts bit and thought the game had a dedicated server, and I thought I had a genuine moment with another player but it turns out it was just my past self hahaha

But yeah, this is a special one, definitely a favourite of mine so far

Enjoyable game and fun premise. Not many critical things to say, it's a solid racing game and the narrative is fresh. I guess at times I would feel a bit cheated when a model would spawn on top of my kart and that probably wasn't intentional but I'm just going to assume it's part of the cringe being inevitable, extra points for narrative lol

Nice concept and plenty enjoyable on its own although if you wanted to pick this up again in the future I would love to see some audio implemented as well as an art style that provides more contrast between the ball and the obstacles, currently it's a bit difficult for me to see the white against baby blue. Overall, very solid!

I feel like I've just played a full game, that was really amazing. I think you completely nailed every aspect of what makes for an effective psychological horror, as well as just a game that keeps you hooked until the very end. I thought the monochrome colour rule being broken for the more horrific events was a great touch

Had to break out the drawing tablet for this one :^)

First off, gameplay was unique and I didn't notice any problems with it. Artwork was lovely, had great colours and shadows, the animation felt really considered as well, just that one frame inbetween the character changing direction really makes it feel so seamless. I liked how the music intensified as the level went on.

I did accidentally hit 'r' halfway through playing it and was then sent all the way back to the start which was in the description to be fair, I think that's the only thing I would change about this. Maybe also some different tiles for the terrain but I'm just nitpicking at this point. Really nicely done stuff

Fun game, the pixel art is really nice and having all the grindable objects is a neat touch. I think this might just be an issue on my part judging by the other comments, but I wasn't sure how to enter the loop area, I tried pressing "a" or "A" to enter but that wasn't working and I spent a bit of time hitting a lot of buttons on the keyboard haha, I think maybe the pixel font confused me a lot

Really interesting idea although I am awful at it lol. I liked how you implemented sound into the game and the little pseudo interface is absolutely peak, really nice work

Great little game, loved the art and music and the Neel's walking animation is really cute haha. The monochrome colours along with the music really give it a lot of atmosphere and personality, overall nice one!

Appreciate the feedback! And yeah, I think we did a decent job with the ambience but the feedback-specific audio left a bit to be desired. We ended up scoping down a bit towards the end so a lot of features like a fatal fall trigger weren't implemented in time. Thanks for checking out the project tho!

Really cool idea, it's like an action-puzzler where every decision counts. The art was great and the sound effects were top-notch. I liked that every level had its own music section and level complete sound, really lends itself to progression for the game as mechanics get introduced

Ha cheers mate, we were happy to see that aspects of the Ascii really shine in certain locations

Nice wee toy, appreciated the context of the assets and where they're placed like a little civilization. I had issues with some of the objects not playing their sounds and I figured you needed objects around it, but maybe you need the right combination? Not sure how it might work exactly but I found it pretty unique and entertaining regardless, nice job!

Great game, great concept, it's almost perfect right out of the box! Only issue is that I was getting 'c' and 'g' mixed up as well as 'u' and 'v' whenever the screen zoomed out later in the game
