We’ve been working on a fun side project, we are really excited to share - a pixel art style chess puzzle game demo called Mate’Morphosis.
Right now you can play 16 levels. The build is mostly functional, with different mechanics, music. The playable levels shows a bit of variety to hint how we would like to make the game mechanics.

What we’re improving next
-
Clearer tooltips showing what will happen if you move to a hovered square
-
Better music mix for longer sessions
-
Inputs: keybinds visible in Settings, touch keyboard + controller support
-
Content: new piece variations & board types
-
Localization for multiple languages
Known issues (so you don’t waste time reporting dupes)
-
“Number 3” placeholder left in UI (yep, sorry😅)
-
Settings panel sometimes stays open after closing Pause
-
Move log jumps down after Undo
-
Promotion panel can still appear after losing
-
A few minor graphical glitches
-
Under certain unknown conditions, everything becomes draggable (if you trigger this, please tell us what you were doing right before!)
What feedback helps us most
-
Rulebook: Did the rules/objectives make sense without reading a manual? Where were you confused?
-
Readability: Are the tooltips and move previews enough to trust your next move?
-
Levels: Any spikes where a puzzle felt unfair or trivial?
-
UI/UX: Anything you tried to click/press that didn’t do what you expected?
-
Audio: Tell me what u feel
-
Bugs: Steps to reproduce, short clip if possible
It’s still early, but coming together fast. The plan is to build out and expand the board. Potential full themed worlds - space, desert, ocean, clouds (no promise). And we will update our Capsule Image soon.
If you prefer, feel free to drop notes here or on the itch page. Every report helps us to put pieces to the board. Thanks for playing!
Bananas,
Wise Monke Team
