thanks for playing!!!

yeah, unfortunately theres like a few ways to softlock in the game... but im very happy you had fun!!!

about the spinning, you may find it useful that there is a drifting mechanic! you can drift using the shift key, and it might help you with aiming. it turns out the game nor the description had actually explained how to drift.... which is a mistake on our parts!!!!!!! the description is updated now though

thanks for the kind words! im happy you enjoyed it

yeah, our game definitely has some big optimization problems lol.. but thats how a game jam goes xP

thanks for playing and thanks for the kind words!!!!

thanks for the kind words!! yes, if we had more time to work on the game, one of the first things i would do (after fixing the massive amount of bugs...) would probably be stuff like that! im actually very happy with how the game turned out graphically, but i think some vfx like camera shake and such would really bring it all together. thanks for playing!!!

thanks so much for playing!!! im very impressed with your final time. im very happy that you had so much fun!!!

yeah, the game is DEFINITLY a little bit buggy.. oh, and the reset button was actually just a dev tool that i completely forgot to take out X) whoops!

your time is very impressive, but, i do have to tell you one thing... you can drift in this game using the shift key! drifting for a long enough time will give you a speed boost. it turns out, the game nor the description actually explains this...... WHOOPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i updated the description now to include it. that was a huge oversight on our parts, sorry!!!!!!!

to be honest, im not actually certain if drifting is always faster. its more so used as a way to rack up points. but maybe youll find it useful! anyway, thank you again for all the kind words!!!

wait it looks like the picture isnt showing up?? idk itch might just not be loading it properly for me, but it was a screenshot of my time which was 30.01

(1 edit)

this was the best time i could get

feel like this is pretty good :DDD

all in all, pretty good job! :DD all the art and sfx assets are put together pretty well, and the gameplay is fun! the one problem i had was that it was sometimes it was difficult to tell if a button was interactable or not, since because of the computer aesthetic, theres a lot of buttons that dont have any functionality. i would make it so hovering over a button causes it to darken/lighten, so the player knows they can click it. or maybe make the cursor change shape when hovering over a button.

the puzzles themselves were pretty good. it was fun having to memorize the answers of the puzzles so that i could solve them next time. like in the folder puzzle, where you have to memorize the order of the folders to solve it. i do think the puzzles couldve pulled more from things in the room, so the game could fit better into the one room theme. like, maybe in the fourth puzzle, instead of getting the three letters revealed to you, you could make the player search the room in order to reveal the letters.

also, i didnt really get the last puzzle... is that thing at the bottom of the room grass?? i thought it was just a rug! .. but if it IS grass, why is there grass in his room?? X)

but anyway, pretty good game! congrats on being able to submit on time lol

i honestly feel that this game has a good foundation, but there are some aspects that i feel prevent it from its full potential! the game loop in of itself isnt all that satisfying, since the player is faster than the enemies. theres no reason to kill the enemies since the player can just outrun them. that doesnt mean its a bad thing that the player is faster than the enemies; i think thats actually a good thing! but the game loop should be built around that fact. a simple example of an improved game loop would be if killing enemies earned you points, and the player had to gain the highest score in a certain amount of time, say a minute.

the controls also dont feel amazing. left click locks on to an enemy, and it looks like right clicking locks on to an enemy as well as enables auto-attack (which, by the way, doesnt seem to ever turn off? im assuming this is unintended behavior, so ill ignore it). they both do the same thing, except one enables auto-attack. why would the player ever left click an enemy then? theres not really a situation where the player will specifically NOT want to auto-attack an enemy. i would just make it so the player auto-attacks whatever enemy theyre locked on to, and make it so right click only controls the camera, and doesnt handle attacking at all.
(also, its worth noting that im a trackpad user, and trackpads make everything harder :p im assuming this game was meant to be played with an actual mouse, so you may have to take my criticism with a grain of salt)

all in all, the game is actually pretty well done (especially for a game jam), but i think it just needs a little more to make it stand out. i like the different attacks that the player can do, but a higher variation of enemies would be nice. like a ranged enemy for example. i also felt that the player moved a little slow, upping the speed and maybe adding a dash could make a big difference. in fact, i like the vertical aspect of the level design, and i think you could lean in to the platforming aspect of the game by increasing the jump strength of the player. i think that could add more complexity to the game.

the last thing ill mention is polish. its not exactly easy to read whats going on in the game, especially on the first playthrough. i think some visual indicators could help with this. just making it so the player/enemies flash when taking damage could honestly make a world of difference. also, maybe abilities could flash, or make some sort of noise when theyre ready. i would recommend just looking at some of your favorite games and trying to analyze THEIR effects so you can take inspiration and add something similar to your own game

well done on everything though, and congratulations on being able to submit to the jam!
