So between existential crisises, I've put out a very minor update to this game. What has been updated you ask?

-I officially retconned the bird's name fro "Foulegg" to "Fouless", an old beta name which I like more. As such all instances in the player's guide of "Foulegg" have been appropriately replaced.

-I fixed a few typos in the soundtrack, concerning the word "Vengeance" and a certain letter E I forgot was in there.

-Nothing is new with the game itself.

In other news, the soundtrack for this game (and a handful of my other games) will soon be available on Spotify! As well as various other music streaming and purchasing platforms. You can, however, still get a copy of the soundtrack with any purchase of the game, or listen to the soundtrack for free on our official music YouTube channel. Aside from that, no terribly exciting news to share at the moment. The movie is still in development but on hiatus at the moment, and it's looking to probably be finished sometime between 2024 and 2025.

Hello, thank you for purchasing my game, FlareonAnimations! I think it's really cool that you want to include my characters in your project! I have subscribed to your YouTube channel. Just so you know, if you'd like, I can supply you with high quality transparent PNGs of these characters to use in your series, so you don't have to have a box around them.

As a game developer, it means a lot to me that you've chosen to try my game. Once you have beaten the game, I would really appreciate if you'd share with me what you thought of it. Whether this be a video on your YouTube channel, a post oh here, or other means. It doesn't have to be fancy, but I'd like to hear what you have to say. I really value the feedback of wonderful and creative players such as yourself.

Thanks again, and good luck with your series!

Hey all!

Pictured above is the level tilesets for the upcoming game, "Battery Chad: Pull The Plug". The game is designed as a revival of the 'Battery Chad' games. It will feature:

-One concise campaign

-A storyline along with fully voice-acted dialogue from each character

-Retained NES aesthetic

-Fully new level types & music

-Most of the mechanics introduced in Battery Chad Builder

-Some stuff introduced in Battery Chad Builder 2

The thing about Battery Chad; it's a series near and dear to my heart, but has very little in the way of a flagship game. Shock The World, while fun, lacks substance, and is a glitchy mess. Battery Chad Builder is a solid game with good mechanics, but lacks the kind of community that would make such a game fun to play. And so, I am designing an all-new game to reinvent the series... kind of. It will be a linear, screen-by-screen, 2D platformer, like Shock The World. It will even reuse the majority of music and visuals featured in that game. However, this game will have much more meat on its bones- packed with new enemies and mechanics at every turn, and with a new boss to face after each 3 levels. I am planning to have the game ready for September 27th, 2023!! So, stay tuned, and get ready to *pull the plug* with a new Battery Chad adventure!!

I have this game for the Switch, and it's pretty fun. My biggest criticism is that it needs more polish. Things like, when you get sent back to the menu after beating a level, it puts the 'book' (level selection) back at page 1 and you have to scroll all the way through it. Or the way that the music just abruptly stops when you beat a level instead of fading out, which is very jarring. These little bits of polish wouldn't take much effort but would go a long way. That aside, the gameplay itself is VERY fun. It's mostly just solving small bite-sized puzzles but they're very fun. I understand that what they were going for here is a sort of grab-bag of nostalgic N64 ideas. Like, the majority of the game plays like Banjo Kazooie, but then there's one level that plays as a 2D platforming level (much like Kirby 64), one level that throws you into a car autorunner segment out of nowhere, and one level that's just straight up a race in Mario Kart. Something like this could come across as very sloppy, and while I still think it could use a little more rhyme/reason, it's still decently well executed here, and not too offputting. Ultimately, this game is well worth the price, and if it were a bit more polished and a lot longer / more expanded upon, it could be something very very special, I think, and I hope Siactro will consider creating a longer, more fleshed out game in the future.

Hello, friends! :)

Since 2021, we've been on a streak of releasing a new Pellet Packer game every year on February 1st!

Well, I don't think this one will be ready in time for February. However, a third instalment in the Pellet Packer videogame series is coming- and I think there's a mighty chance it will be ready for release sometime in 2023!

We already have a title- but I'll reveal that later. In the meantime, here's what I can tell you:

-The game will be more similar to Micro Munch than it is to Cookie Crunch. A return to the series roots, if you will.

-The main focus of the game will be an EXPLOSIVE variety of fun modes and minigames to play! Certainly MUCH more modes than Micro Munch had.

-There will be lots of yummy food to eat!

-A few modes will let you play as Chaser!!

-There will be an all-new soundtrack. The same Pellet Packer songs you're used to, re-made in beautiful orchestral fashion.

That's all I can say for now! Stay tuned, and look forward to the Pellet Packer trilogy completion!

Hello Crooked Beaker, thank you so much for trying my game and your review!! It's helpful feedback like this that helps me to get better at making fun games. :)

I am glad you were able to get enjoyment out of the game! I thought it would be a unique and interesting thing to try and make a platformer that controls entirely with a mouse cursor, which made this game perfect for the Pellet Packer series (which currently only has one other game, "Pellet Packer: Micro Munch", which is an arcade-style game with similar controls to the boss fights in this game). I am also glad to hear that the manual was helpful!! I was hoping it would guide players through the somewhat unintuitive mechanics.

I'm sorry to hear that the bosses were a bit frustrating, and I can see what you mean about some of the post-game levels being less interesting than the ones throughout the main game, I was a little worried about that before the game came out. I will try to put more care into the next post-game content I create!

I appreciate the feedback and it's great to see that someone enjoyed my game enough to 100% it! :) If you'd ever be interested in learning more about me or my games, or maybe even helping to test some pre-release products, then feel free to add me on Discord: FormulaFanboyFFIB#3591

Thank you and have a great day!

Just want to put a notice here so everyone knows that this person is an associate, he got my direct permission to post this and isn't just shamelessly advertising.

More free DLC for Battery Chad Builder 2: Topdown Tileset!

This is officially the biggest Battery Chad Builder 2 update ever! Read all about it.

Hello all!! HUGE update this time around, I can't wait to share with you what's new in "Battery Chad Builder 2: Topdown Tileset"! First, I'll list off some smaller changes.

  • Fixed glitch where Mailboss would save as Big Boy
  • Chad's sprite will now appear upside-down if a Gravity Switch is active
  • Improved some item pages with more accurate item descriptions
  • Reorganized some categories in the item selection menu

Alright, now into the fully fledged additions!

Added Inspection Mode!

inspect_mode.png

Returning from the original "Battery Chad Builder" game is Inspection Mode! Now when playing a level, there will be a new option alongside the Retry button when hovering the mouse to the top of the screen! This button will appear as a magnifying glass, and when clicked, the player will enter Inspection Mode. While in Inspection Mode, this magnifying glass will follow the mouse cursor. The player can hover the magnifying glass over objects in the level to see and read their item page! To exit Inspection Mode, the player can simply click the magnifying glass again.

Added Lenslooker!

lenslooker.png

Returning from the original "Battery Chad Builder" game is Lenslooker! This sleepy camera will usually be snoozing on the job, looking away from Chad- but watch out! When you see him peak his eye open, that's your cue to STOP MOVING CHAD! Shortly after, Lenslooker will turn around with his eyes fully open. While his eyes are open, if he sees Chad move, he'll notice Chad, and begin raining a storm of projectiles on Chad! But if you wait long enough, he'll just go back to sleep.

cm.png

Added Poison Blood!

poison_blood.png

Returning from the original "Battery Chad Builder" game is Poison Blood! This deadly substance will sit in a puddle on the ground. On its own, this object cannot hurt Chad. However- if it is next to a solid block, than said block will become an instant death tile for Chad! Be careful!

bd.png

Added Static-Shock Pill!

static_shock.png

This new power pill will return Chad's shock attack to the behaviour it had in the original "Battery Chad Builder" game! When this pill is active, Chad's shock attack will not shoot forward as a projectile, but will instead act as a melee attack.

p6.png

Added Redbird!

redbird.png

This new winged friend of Chad's is just like Bluebird! Except when Redbird is following Chad, instead of walking through walls, Chad will gain a speed boost!

ry.png

Added Charge Block!

charge_block.png

This block starts empty, with no charge in it at all! However, if Chad shocks it, he can charge it one section at a time! The only downside is, every time Chad charges this block, it will take one health away from him. If Chad can charge this block to full, it will be able to signal blocks around it!

xd.png

Added Goldengate!

goldengate.png

This block is usually a solid collision that Chad cannot pass through! However, it will disappear when signalled by a signaller!

xe.png

Added Autosignal!

autosignal.png

Once this tile is loaded in, it will automatically send a signal to any block it's next to, and then disappear! It cannot be used again after it sends the signal. Its alternate form will not disappear, and will send a signal each time it's loaded back on-screen.

xb.png

Added Disc Von Doom!

disc_von_doom.png

Returning from the original "Battery Chad Builder" game is Disc Von Doom! This demented disc-player will wander the edge of the screen, occasionally shooting disc projectiles, which will home in on Chad! However, if Chad can use his shock attack on the disc before it touches him, than the disc will instead home back in on Disc Von Doom and damage him!

v1.png

Added Dressguard!

dressguard.png

Returning from the original "Battery Chad Builder" game is Dressguard! This devious dresser will pace back and fourth, and Chad can damage her with his shock attack! However- occasionally, Dressguard will shoot articles of clothing at Chad! Tight articles of clothing. If Chad touches these clothes, he'll be stunned from movement until they despawn! While Chad is stunned, Dressguard will teleport to different sides of the screen! However, Chad can shoot these clothes with his shock attack, and he can also avoid being stunned if he is idling.

d1.png

And there's more on the way!

This update is HUGE! For one, as of this update, Battery Chad Builder 2 officially has most all of the items that did not carry over from the original Battery Chad Builder game. Lenslooker being in the game is very welcome, as he was always planned for the game, but ended up being cut because I couldn't figure out how to make his sprite work from a topdown perspective (in this update, I just ended up reworking the original sprite). He will function in this game almost exactly as he did in the original Battery Chad Builder game- albeit, with the bullet stream being a little slower, to compensate for the slower movement speed in this game.

And hey- let's welcome Disc Von Doom and Dressguard to the Battery Chad Builder 2 family! With their addition in this update, every single boss enemy from the original Battery Chad Builder game is now officially in the sequel, and the total boss count has been brought to eight! When the game launched, the thing I was by far the most dissatisfied with was the variety of bosses. There were only three bosses at launch (Sinkautro, Blackout and Vroom Vroom). I just wasn't sure how to translate all the bosses from the first game into a topdown setting. But now that number has more than doubled- and to boot, I was able to rework each and every boss from the first game to fit this one! I feel super proud and accomplished of how the bosses have evolved in this game, and I'm nothing short of ecstatic that every Battery Chad character is now present in this game.

Of course, there are also many original additions with this update. For example: the Static-Shock Pill will allow those who prefer the melee-style shocking of the first game to build their ultimate level! Of course, the Charge Block will add many interesting possibilities for puzzles and quests. The Goldengate will also allow for many incredible possibilities for how a player can progress in a level! The Autosignal finally allows for something to be automatically triggered without help from Chad or anyone else! For example, you can now have a level where, from the get-go, a Gravity Switch is active, and Chad can't change it back! And who could forget, Redbird- an official follow up to the Bluebird mechanic! This new feature will surely allow for cool levels, and also does a great job expanding the Battery Chad universe!

And lastly, Inspection Mode is the cherry on top of this beautiful DLC cake. Something that I always knew could be added to this game and work essentially the exact same as in the first game, but that I just never got around to actually adding. I finally pulled up my bootstraps and made it happen, and just like in the first game, I believe it will go a long way for new players who are confused by the mechanics in the game!

So, with all these additions, I'm officially milked for ideas! Aside from campaign modes, I have no idea what else I'll be able to add to this game. But one thing's for sure- whatever it is, it's gonna be shockingly spectacular! So, stay tuned, and remember- Shock the world!

[January 19, 2021, 4:56 AM - v0.0.4]

Pixel artists, storytellers, and everyone of the sort- get ready!!

The v0.0.4 update to "Battery Chad Builder 2: Topdown Tileset" is an absolute game changer!!

I usually save the best, coolest and biggest additions in the update for the end of the post. But screw it... I can't help myself!

Added Costume Painter!

Now when you boot up Battery Chad Builder 2: Topdown Tileset, you'll notice a new option on the menu screen called "Costume Painter".

image.png

So, what is Costume Painter? What does it do? Well, Costume Painter allows you to draw and animate a character sprite! You have a 16x16 canvas and 7 frames (1 frame standing animation, 2 frame animations for walking, idling and attacking) to work with! Any sprite you can imagine can be made with this editor!

image.png

Once you're done, you can save your sprite to a "Costume Code", which is a string of 1793 characters that you're recommended to save somewhere like a text document.

You can use the "Test Animations" button to see a preview of what your sprite would look like in action! Simply press WASD, J or K while in "Test Animations" mode to see your creation in motion.

image.png

image.png

Once you have a Costume Code, you can load it back into the Costume Painter and edit it later. But is that all you can do? Of course not! Keep reading...

Added Makeover Mask!

makeover_mask.png

If the NPC Dialogue for a screen is set to a Costume Code, and Chad collects this item on that screen, he'll take on the appearance of that costume! Chad will maintain this appearance until he comes into contact with the alternate form of the Makeover Mask, which de-activates any currently active costumes.

image.png

image.png

Yes, that means you can have custom player sprites in your levels! And not only that, but you can have multiple! You can have one per screen in your level!

image.png

image.png

I think this will also go a long way for allowing RPG levels to be made with this game! As now, you can essentially have the player play as any character you can think of, or even cycle through many of them! Really, your own creativity is the limit here!

Heck, this technically also opens the gates for fanmade projects using characters outside the Battery Chad universe!!

I am SO SO excited to see what people might make using this new update!! Please, if you haven't already, there's no better time than now to give this game a go!

mk.png

As mentioned, this isn't the only new addition for this update. However, it is by far the biggest.

Added Anti-Shock Pill!

anti-shock.png

This new Power Pill will do quite the opposite- it will take Chad's power away! While this item is active, Chad won't be able to use his signature shock attack, meaning he can't activate switches, hurt most enemies, or anything of the sort on his own. This will allow for the level creator to have more control over the player's abilities, or maybe it can help better immerse a player into a costume!

p5.png

Added Powergate!

powergate.png

This item will be a solid collision for Chad unless he has a Power Pill active! It also has an alternate form that works the other way around.

pg.png

And there's more on the way!

This update was actually originally going to be much larger, with many other items that I still plan to add. However, I really wanted to give the new costumes feature some time to shine on its own! I mean, just think of all the endless creative possibilities this allows for!! :D

I'll be adding a "Costume Codes" channel to the official Battery Chad Community, where users can share their custom costumes! Here, I'll get the ball rolling with a Battery Bob costume on the house. :)

Stay tuned! And of course, as always... shock the world!!

[January 29, 2021, 10:21 AM - v0.0.5]

The v0.0.5 update to "Battery Chad Builder 2: Topdown Tileset" will allow you to build NPCs, monsters, and even bosses!! Read all about it...

The new update is here, and it will expand upon the Costume Codes feature added in the previous update! First, some bug fixes.

  • Fixed glitch where the lightbulb could be obtained from a different screen
  • Fixed glitch where bosses could hurt Chad during a loading screen
  • Fixed other glitches that I honestly just don't remember what they were

Alright, now onto the exciting stuff!!

Added Custom NPC!

custom_npc.png

Yes, that's right-- you can now have custom NPCs in your levels, with a custom name and custom sprites!!

To assign a costume to a Custom NPC, simply paste a Costume Code into the NPC Dialogue prompt and then type out what you want the Custom NPC to say!

image.png

Once you press enter, you'll be prompted to name your NPC.

image.png

And voila! A custom NPC in your level!

image.png

You can make your NPCs look however you want, and there can be one for each screen!

I believe this feature will again go a long way in allowing for RPG levels, as being able to have your own characters to talk to will really help you to tell a story that's your very own!

0.png

Added Masked Menace!

masked_menace.png

This new foe- as the name implies- is wearing a mask! And you know what that means- you can apply a Costume Code to this enemy! Simply set the NPC dialogue to a Costume Code!

image.png

This enemy even has 3 different forms of behaviour!

In the first form, the enemy will wander aimlessly until Chad defeats it with his shock attack! In the second form, the enemy will stay still in one spot, and periodically shoot a projectile at Chad! In the third form, the enemy will move towards Chad, but periodically stop to shoot a projectile at him!

I believe that this will also go a long way in allowing players to tell their own unique stories! Not only can you now have a monster that looks like anything, but there are even a good variety of options for how the monster behaves!

cu.png

Added Head Honcho!

head_honcho.png

This brand-new boss will stand still until Chad gets too close, at which point it will start coming after him! Periodically it will stop and rest, at which point Chad can damage it with his shock attack- however, on normal or hard difficulty, there's a chance it will shoot deadly fire at Chad instead!

image.png

And- show of hands, who saw this coming?- you can assign a Costume Code to this new boss enemy!

image.png

Once again, as with all the other additions, I believe that it will go a long way for storytelling purposes to have a custom boss in the game! It can allow for players to make their own climactic sections in a level!

z1.png

And there's more on the way!

Like last time, I still have more additions planned for this game, but I wanna give this update in particular some time alone in the spotlight. In the last update, where I merely added the player costumes, I said "I mean, just think of all the endless creative possibilities this allows for!! :D". Well, this update is that on steroids. You can now have a custom character fight a custom monster, boss, or talk to a custom NPC. This game is becoming more and more like a starting-off point for game development with each update, and I truly do hope to see some awesome user-made content!!

Stay tuned! And of course, as always... shock the world!!

(2 edits)

This is a series of updates that were made to the game in chronological order. These updates were made when the game was primarily hosted on a different site (which I have now ditched due to creative differences) and this is essentially a re-logging of them for archival purposes.

If you're interested in this kind of stuff, you'll love the Update log for the first game.

[January 16, 2021, 3:23 AM - v0.0.2]

Update v0.0.2 to "Battery Chad Builder 2: Topdown Tileset" is here!

Hello all! So, I've decided to make my first official update for Battery Chad Builder 2: Topdown Tileset!

I didn't add a whole lot - consider this a bit of a 'test drive' more than anything. Something to open the doors for future updates of a similar sort.

Added quality of life changes from Battery Chad Builder!

Very recently, as you can read about here [January 15, 2021, 9:17 PM - v0.3.9 - The Quality-of-Life Update], I updated Battery Chad Builder for the first time in what might as well be forever. I added some quality of life changes that simply make the game a little more enjoyable to navigate. Well, essentially, I've now added those exact same features to Battery Chad Builder 2: Topdown Tileset. I've added save slot transparency, a warning prompt for overwriting files, and of course - the world remember feature.

Added Big Boy!

big_boy.png

The one and only actual new ITEM this update brings! Returning from Battery Chad Builder, it's the Big Boy boss! Now with all new graphics to reflect this game's artstyle, as well as a slightly tweaked moveset to fit a topdown game rather than a platforming one.

y1.png

And there's more on the way!

I want this to be the gateway for more such updates to come!! I want Battery Chad Builder 2: Topdown Tileset to be able to live up to the legacy of Battery Chad Builder. I want this game to receive an overwhelming amount of updates, love and care. So, get ready for more updates, with new items, enemies, mechanics and more!

[January 18, 2021, 1:54 AM - v0.0.3]

New update!

Version 0.0.3 of Battery Chad Builder 2: Topdown Tileset is here!!

I've made 8 spicy new additions that you can use in your levels!!

Surprise! As promised, here is the first of many variety DLC packs to Battery Chad Builder 2: Topdown Tileset! Me and my good IRL buddy Colin were on call and came up with many ideas that I've implemented as features! So, without further ado, let's explore the latest version!

Okay- first off, the boring stuff.

  • Fixed glitch where you could be hurt by something from a different screen
  • Tightened the spread of Big Boy's rocks to up the challenge of the fight
  • You can no longer place multiple of the same boss on the same screen
  • NPCs with keys will now only give you the key once, even if you talk to them multiple times.
  • Various other bugfixes and formatting optimizations

Alright. Now let's get into the exciting stuff!

Added Mailboss!

mailboss.png

This furious foe has returned from the original Battery Chad Builder game! Mailboss will circle around Chad, but lookout- Mailboss will shoot battery projectiles at Chad! If Chad is idling, Chad can avoid taking damage from these projectiles. Chad must time his shock attack just right to be able hit Mailboss while he isn't flashing!

h1.png

Added Sign!

sign.png

Ever want to tell something to the player without it coming from a character? Well, now you can! This item functions just like a dialogue NPC, and will relay to the player whatever you have set as the NPC dialogue for the screen the item is on. The only difference is that Chad is now "reading a sign" rather than talking to a character!

ss.png

Added Note!

note.png

This item functions just like the sign! However - it's single-use only. Once Chad reads it, it will be destroyed, and he won't be able to read it again.

nt.png

Added Healthgate!

healthgate.png

This block can be toggled between 4 different states, and will only let Chad through if his health matches its state!

gg.png

Added Pointgate!

pointgate5.png

This block has 3 states: 1, 5 and 10. Whatever state this block is set to, Chad will have to have that many points (or more) to be able to pass. However, once he passes, he'll lose those points from his score.

q1.png

Added Gravity Switch!

gravity_switch.png

Returning from the original Battery Chad Builder game is the Gravity switch! However, in this game, it works a bit... differently. Pressing the Gravity Switch will invert all the controls! Now Chad must press W to go down, S to go up, A to go right, D to go left, J to idle and K to shock! Chad's controls will remain this way until he can find and activate a Gravity Switch!

gv.png

Added Bluebird!

bluebird.png

Remember Chad's bird friend from the original Battery Chad Builder game? Well, she's back- with a twist! In the original game, Bluebird would start following Chad when they came into contact, and while being followed by Bluebird, Chad could jump in midair! However, once Chad pairs up with Bluebird in THIS game, he'll be able to walk through any solid blocks! Well, except for Birdcage blocks. Bluebird will continue to follow Chad until he takes damage.

by.png

Added Birdcage!

birdcage.png

This block is completely walkable usually, but if Chad has a Bluebird following him, it will become a solid collision for him!

cc.png

And there's more on the way!

I plan to continue updating this game to add many new items and features just like these ones!! I really enjoy being able to both come up with new mechanics for a topdown setting, as well as re-interpreting mechanics from the Battery Chad Builder game to fit the topdown gameplay! So, I foresee many more features and additions coming to this game! With 4 out of the 6 bosses from the Battery Chad Builder game now being in this one, I'd also soon like to add the remaining 2-- Disc Von Doom and Dressguard. And, of course, I've already confirmed that eventually a campaign mode will be added to this title.

Let me know what you think of these new additions, and how well they improve the game! That's all from me for now.

Stay tuned, and of course-- SHOCK the world!! :)

Chapter 3: The Afterlife Updates

These are updates I made after I declared v0.3.0 to be the "official" release of the game, since I decided it didn't have enough content to consider finished until then. These are mostly changes that don't affect gameplay, but instead have to do with technical aspects, UI and menu navigation, etc.

[May 12, 2020, 3:17 AM - v0.3.1 - Save Slots]

Battery Chad Builder v0.3.1 is here, and with quite a neat addition-- save slots!

That's right! Now you can save or load your levels without the need for any codes, copying, pasting or otherwise! Of course, codes are still an option, but they're no longer the only option, which helps. You now have 99 whole save slots where you can directly save and load levels!

image.png

This update will not only make saving and loading levels much more polished and intuitive, but it also opens up the doors for a few potential console ports... I won't name names, but let's just say there's a certain type of switch that's able to play HTML games such as these... I've said too much. ;p

[May 13, 2020, 2:59 PM - Levels Online Log 2 - Realization]

Hey all-- yesterday, I got my first screenshot of the Levels Online program (yes, this is not a mockup, it's a REAL SCREENSHOT)! Let me know how it looks, and of course, LEVELS ONLINE HYPE!

[May 15, 2020, 3:00 PM - v0.3.4 - The Limitless Update]

Battery Chad Builder v0.3.4 is out! BIG REVOLUTIONARY CHANGE!

Removed Item Limit!

Up until this point, there has been a limit of how many things can be placed in a level-- not anymore! While obviously it's not wise to fill every gridspace of 9 screens with an item as that will lag the game to infinity and beyond, it can be done! This will allow for longer levels, as well as fixing any janky shenanigans from happening if a level is very large! This opens up so many new possibilities, and is yet another one of Battery Chad Builder's biggest limitations being removed! Hooray!

Fixed Level-Saving Message!

You can now copy codes properly by triple-clicking.

[May 18, 2020, 3:23 AM - v0.3.7 - Sinkautro Reprogrammed]

Battery Chad Builder v0.3.7 is here! Mostly a bugfix; however Sinkautro has been reprogrammed to now be a more involved boss battle! Download here: [LINK REDACTED]

[May 20, 2020, 4:42 PM - v0.3.8 - World Save Slots]

Battery Chad Builder v0.3.8 is here! Added a few new features and fixed a few bugs! Download here: [LINK REDACTED]

Added save slots for worlds!

Now you can create worlds using your locally saved levels, and even save worlds locally! There are 99 save slots that you can save to!

Added "Erase Data" feature!

Wanna free up some save slots? The new "Erase Data" button on the title screen is here for you! Click it to erase level or world save slots! Of course, if you click it by accident, you can always abort the process by clicking "Cancel".

Bugfixes!

Fixed a few bugs, namely a bug where loading a world, cancelling and going into the editor would break the game.

[May 27, 2020, 3:15 AM - Sequel Log 1 - Announcement]

Announcement!

As I'm sure you're all aware by now, "Battery Chad: Topdown Turmoil", the official sequel to "Battery Chad: Shock the World" is currently in development. It will be a topdown action-adventure game starring Battery Chad.

However, alongside the new game, I also plan to launch a companion game-- "Battery Chad Builder: Topdown Tileset". The game will be a spinoff of "Battery Chad Builder", but this time with topdown gameplay like the style that will be seen in Topdown Turmoil. Stay tuned!

[June 9, 2020, 1:40 AM - Sequel Log 2 - Logo Reveal]

COMING SOON!

[June 16, 2020, 2:12 AM - Sequel Log 3 - First Look]

Battery Chad Builder 2 is coming along quite nicely.

[June 19, 2020, 1:44 PM - Sequel Log 4 - Ninety-Four]

Battery Chad Builder 2's soundtrack contains 94 songs!!

Let me say that again:

Ninety-four... songs... I wrote ninety-four songs.

Hype!!

[September 22, 2020, 6:36 PM - Levels Online Log 3 - Cancellation]

It is with a heavy heart...

...that I announce the cancellation of the "Levels Online" service. While I had the payment ready, the coder I commissioned said he overestimated his abilities and is unable to finish the program. I still have the money, and am willing to commission anyone who thinks they can create it for 158 CAD. However, the chances of this happening are unlikely. Levels can continue to be shared over the Battery Chad Discord server.

[January 15, 2021, 9:17 PM - v0.3.9 - The Quality-of-Life Update]

Battery Chad Builder v0.3.9 is here!! I know, it's been a while huh?

Battery Chad Builder v0.3.9 is what I'd call the "Quality of Life" update. It doesn't add any new things per se, but it adds a few things that optimize the experience.

Save slots now show if they're taken!

When navigating through a save slot menu, the save slots will now appear transparent if they haven't been written to yet. Additionally, if you try to save over a slot that's already been written to, a warning prompt will appear.

image.png

image.png

You can now pick up worlds where you left off!

Now if you're playing a world and have to close the game before you finish it, then when you next re-open the game, if you load the same world again you'll have the option to pick up from the level where you left off! This means, for example, if you're stuck at level 55 of the Ultimate Campaign Mode and close the game, then if you load up Ultimate Campaign Mode the next time you open the game, you can start right from level 55! Notably, this will only happen if you haven't loaded any other worlds since. So if you load a world that you don't finish and then load a different world, when you load the other world again you'll have to start from the beginning.

image.png

As well as various bugfixes and the like.

I do also plan to eventually implement these same features into Battery Chad Builder 2: Topdown Tileset- in fact, in general, I plan to update that game in a few ways. I plan to add some new items and eventually put together a proper campaign mode.

[May 6, 2020, 2:36 PM - Levels Online Log 1 - Conceptualization]

"Battery Chad Builder: Levels Online"

Official Concept Mockup

It is important to note that what you are about to look at is just a concept. A concept that we are actively trying to make a reality, but a concept nonetheless. None of the images are actual screenshots, they are just mockups made by me of what the service would ideally look like. I am in collaboration with a user on Discord who is generously using his knowledge of VisualStudio to help potentially make this a reality, HOWEVER, even though there's a good likelihood of it being made, no promises.

“Battery Chad Builder Online Levels” is to be a separate program from the “Battery Chad Builder” game, that will be included with the download of the game.

Profile Creation

profile_screen.png

When you boot the program, you will be prompted to sign up or sign in. While this is not the final version of it, there will be some sort of account system.

Title Screen

title_screen.png

When the program has successfully booted up and you are signed in, you will be brought to this title screen with the three options “Search”, “Upload” and “Random”. Let’s explore what each one does.

Search

When you press the “Search” option, you should see a screen similar to this.

search_1.png

Here you select if you are entering an ID or searching for something by name. If you choose “Search By Name” and type nothing, the program will simply show levels in order of most recently uploaded. However, once you start typing, you will see a screen such as this:

search_2.png

As you can see, there are three categories, “Levels”, “Worlds” and “Profiles”. This way you can search for single levels, a group of levels, or a level creator, with ease. Here is what a Level Page will look like:

search_3.png

You will notice it displays a level name, level theme, level length and Level ID. The Level ID can be used to take someone directly to the level without having to look through search results-- think of it as a URL of sorts. There are three buttons. The first one displays the level creator’s name, and if you click on it, it will take you to their page. The second one says “Copy To Clipboard”, which will copy the level code to your clipboard so you can paste it into Battery Chad Builder. The final button, “Return”, will take you back to whatever page you came from-- in this case, the search results. Also know (and this applies to worlds as well) that if the page in question is owned by the person looking at it, there will be a small garbage can icon in the top-right corner to delete it. Next, here is what a World Page will look like:

search_4.png

This is fundamentally the same thing as a Level Page, however instead of displaying screen count and level theme, it will display a level length. It will also have a World ID, which will function the same way as a Level ID. The same three buttons are here, and they have the exact same function. Now lastly, here is what a Profile Page will look like:

search_5.png

Here you will see their profile name, Profile ID, level count and world count. This time, you will see the buttons “View Levels” and “View Worlds”. Clicking on one of these will bring you to a similar page as the search results, except it’s exclusively levels (or worlds) made by this profile. The “Return” button has the same function as always. Each profile can have up to 100 levels or worlds. Not 100 of each, but 100 slots to upload either a level or a world. This concludes the search function. Now, let’s look at what happens if you’ve selected “Upload”.

Upload

When you select “Upload” from the menu, it should bring you to a screen like this:

upload1.png

It’s important to note that from here on out, the version of these pages for worlds will look pretty much exactly the same, just substituting the word “Level” with “World”. Once you decide what it is you’re uploading, you’ll fill out the information on a page like this:

upload_2.png

Here you can see you may fill out the text fields with the required information. There is a 32 character limit for the name, but no character limit for the code. While yes, somebody could technically upload a level as a world, or vice versa, or even just type something that isn’t a code in the code box, all levels found with these things will be manually deleted. The same goes for levels/worlds that are impossible to clear (with few exceptions, such as glitch showcase levels [which are encouraged, it will help me patch glitches, and I’ll credit you in the game as a bugfinder!]). Now you can either click the “Upload” button to upload your level/world, or the “Cancel” button to abort the upload. Assuming you clicked “Upload” and all went well, you’ll see a screen like this:

upload_3.png

Here you can copy your Level/World ID, and click the “Ok” button to exit the screen. However, should something go wrong for whatever reason, such as a problem with our servers, or not being connected to the internet, it should bring you to a screen like this:

upload_4.png

This concludes the “Upload” section of the program. Now let’s look at “Random” button.

Random

Lastly, the “Random” option. Simply put, it will give you a random code. First it will go to a screen like this, where you select if you are looking for a random level or a random world:

random_1.png

Next, it will take you to a screen like this:

random_2.png

As you can see, it’s essentially just a level page, but with an additional button that says “Another”, which will simply give you another random code.

Lastly, not that I can share it here, but I’ve created a song that will loop in the program. It will be included in future versions of the soundtrack.

Remember, this is ALL a concept. Nothing is set in stone. Features shown here here other than the basic fundamental features are not guaranteed, and the program as a whole isn’t guaranteed either. I am looking at compatible (and affordable) servers, and the wonderful fellow helping to try and make this is working on… well, making it. These images were originally created to give him a reference of what he’s trying to build, and according to him, everything I have should be doable. I will give you updates as I get them, and remember to stay tuned.

[May 4, 2020, 4:52 AM - v0.2.5 - The HTML Update]

Battery Chad Builder v0.2.5 is here! What's new? Speed!

Battery Chad Builder is now a lag-free experience!

Battery Chad Builder is now capable of running at a speed that's over 50% faster than before. You can fill an entire screen with blocks and the game will barely budge. This is because from here on out, Battery Chad Builder will run in HTML instead of Flash! The flash version will still exist and be updated, but for obvious reasons, it's no longer recommended. This also means there can now be a browser version! Enjoy the new speed!

[May 4, 2020, 4:28 PM - v0.2.6 - The Slopes Update]

Battery Chad Builder v0.2.6 is here... SLOPES!!

That's right, slopes are now in Battery Chad Builder!

slope.png

z1.png

z2.png

Remember, two new campaign modes should be coming to the game shortly!

[May 6, 2020, 12:28 PM - v0.2.7 - The Second Slopes Update]

Battery Chad Builder v0.2.7 is here... MORE SLOPES!!

More free Battery Chad Builder DLC, woohoo!

Just as a reminder, there are still two new campaign modes being worked, so there's that to look forward to! In the meantime, just a few little updates to tide you over.

Added two new slopes!

Upon realizing I may have made a pretty bad "oopsie" when I considered how slopes may interact with Gravity Switches, I decided to fix this problem by simply adding upside-down slopes!

slope_upside-down.png

z3.png

z4.png

Now, right-side-up slopes will only have collision when Gravity Switches are set to "Down", and vice versa! Whew, crisis averted!

Improved Collision!

Chad's collision is now MUCH much better. No more clipping into walls, no more spam-all-the-buttons-to-walk-through-block glitches, no more sticking to walls if you're falling while pushed against one-- player collision has officially been mostly de-janked.

I also made a quick fix to the UI, as there was a sizing issue with the item wheel.

Again, remember, there are still two new campaign modes on the way! As well as that, the new "Levels Online" program and an updated soundtrack with new art and music will be coming out soon-ish, likely sometime in the summer. Remember to stay inside, wash your hands, and practise social distancing. If all this free video-game stuff can't motivate you to do that, I don't know what can.

[May 7, 2020, 9:12 PM - v0.2.9 - The Help Update]

Battery Chad Builder v0.2.9 is here! Take a look...

Battery Chad Builder v0.2.9 has added some new features that make playing levels a lot more polished! While playing a level, you'll notice if you hover your mouse towards the top of the screen, there are some buttons...

image.png

Added Level Retry!

retry.png

While playing a level, have you ever been in a pickle? Found yourself stuck, softlocked or in too deep? Well boy have I got a feature for you-- now while playing a level, you can restart it from the beginning to set everything back to its original state! You will, however, have to start from the beginning, and lose all your checkpoints.

image.png

Added Inspection Mode!

inspect_mode.png

If you're ever playing a level and find yourself unaware of what a certain item or mechanic is, Inspection Mode is here to help! Simply click the magnifying glass and it will follow your mouse, then hover it over any item to see its co-responding tip! To exit Inspection Mode, just click the magnifying glass again.

image.png

Battery Chad v0.3.0 is on the way, and it will have two new campaign modes, so stay tuned! Remember to join our Discord server to not only share your own levels and worlds, but play others' as well: https://discord.gg/zmr9hkK

[May 11, 2020, 3:57 AM - v0.3.0 - The Release Update]

Battery Chad Builder VERSION 0.3.0 is here!! This is the official release version of the game!

Made many changes and bugfixes!

This update has changed quite a few things to make the game more intuitive and user-friendly. Minor tweaks have been made, such as the "Create World" button now saying "Compile World", the option to cancel out of loading dialogues by typing nothing and pressing enter, as well as other small details. There have also been many glitches fixed and the game is overall less janky now.

Updated Soundtrack!

The soundtrack has gotten quite the overhaul-- not only have the album art and release year been updated, but there are tons of new tracks-- in fact, the original 10 tracks have updated to a whopping 38! Now the soundtrack includes edit themes, play themes, and "mix" themes, which are both the edit and play versions overlapped! This soundtrack also now contains the full soundtrack to 'Battery Chad: Shock the World', and of course, even though it hasn't been released yet, the theme for the Levels Online program.

Updated Campaign Modes!

"Battery Chad: Timeset Trouble" and "Battery Chad: Airborne Accuracy" have now been added as campaign modes!

campaign88.png

campaign99.png

They have also been added as worlds to "Battery Chad Builder: Ultimate Campaign". Speaking of, a special exclusive bonus level has been added to the end of "Battery Chad: Ultimate Campaign", which not only brings the level count to 55, but also serves as a nice rewarding and challenging treat to those who beat the ultimate campaign!

This game is now officially released!

The game has gone from being "Early Access" to being "Complete/Stable". I truly believe the game is at a state where it has enough content and stability to be a fully released game, that I only see myself patching for reasons such as bugfixing or optimization. The only guaranteed patch after the current one is for the release of Levels Online. Thank you all for joining me on this journey, it truly has been very amazing, this is by far my favourite game I have ever worked on and in my opinion, it's the best one I've made. I hope to see all of your awesome levels and worlds! Remember to join our Discord server (https://discord.gg/zmr9hkK), and continue to shock the world!

[April 13, 2020, 9:33 AM - v0.1.9 - Blue Bolts]

Brace yourselves... Battery Chad Builder v0.1.9 is here! It's not the update you were expecting, but the one new addition it brings is sure to change the game completely!

So, as mentioned in the previous update log, two new campaign modes are being worked on! While they aren't in this update, you can count on them being in Battery Chad Builder v0.2.0. However, this update DOES bring something completely new to the table-- check it out!!

Added Blue Bolts!

blue_bolt.png

So, what are Blue Bolts you may ask? Let's read the in-game description!

bl.png

That's right, Blue Bolts are a new kind of pickup where if Chad collects all of them in a level, he'll be awarded a key! You might be wondering, how many can there be in a level? 1? 5? Maybe 10? Nope... there is no limit to the amount of Blue Bolts you can place in a level! Wanna have 3? Of course! Maybe 70? That's... maybe not the best use of resources, but still completely doable! The game will auto-detect how many you've placed in the level and make sure Chad gets that key once he's collected them all! Pretty neat, right?

As always, stay tuned for more updates, and PLEASE be sure to join our Discord Server (https://discord.gg/keKBMdW) and not only play other people's awesome levels, but share your own as well! Get ready for build 30, formally known as v0.2.0!

[April 14, 2020, 5:30 PM - v0.2.0 - Two New Campaigns]

Surprise-- Battery Chad Builder v0.2.0 is here!

Added "Battery Chad: Goodbye Gravity" campaign mode!

To showcase the completely new dimension that Gravity Switches add to the game, this campaign mode brings 6 brand-new levels, all packed with fun ideas for Gravity Switch puzzles! This mode is also now present as a world in "Battery Chad Builder: Ultimate Campaign"!

campaign6.png

Added "Battery Chad: Anvil Alarm" campaign mode!

Showing off the usefulness of anvils, glass, crumplepaper and more recently added items, this challenging campaign mode is sure to bring gallons of fun to even the most seasoned players! This mode is also now present as a world in "Battery Chad Builder: Ultimate Campaign"! This brings the total pre-installed level count to 42!

campaign7.png

As well as various bug fixes.

[April 29, 2020, 1:25 AM - v0.2.2 - The Clockwork Update]

Battery Chad Builder v0.2.2 is here! With 12 new additions to the game including key assignment, new blocks, new bosses, new enemies and more, it's safe to say that this is a MAJOR UPDATE!

Added Battery Bob!

You can have one Battery Bob per level! When shocked, Battery Bob will say any desired message to Chad!

bob.png

ob.png

Added Key Assignment!

You can now assign Keys to enemies, bosses and Mailboxes! Enemies and bosses with Keys will give Chad a Key once defeated, and Mailboxes with Keys will give Chad a key once activated! This opens up a whole new world of possibilities!

Added Key Blocks!

These blocks will usually be walkable, but if Chad has a Key, they'll become solid!

key_block.png

kb.png

Added Puddles!

These watery blocks will damage Chad if he touches them!

puddle.png

pd.png

Added Block Clocks!

These little timers can be activated to change the state of certain blocks for a brief duration of time!

block_clock.png

ck.png

Added Clock Blocks!

Clock Block 1 will usually be walkable, but become solid when a Block Clock is active, and Clock Block 2 will usually be solid, but becomes transparent when a Block Clock is active!

clock_block_1.png

clock_block_2.png

c1.png

c2.png

Added Donuts!

This baked collectable is more than just a delicious pastry-- collecting one will not only award Chad with 300 points, but recharge his health to full!

donut.png

dn.png

Added Webwarts!

These eight-legged creatures aren't just your average arachnids, because if Chad gets too close to one and isn't being careful, it will drop on him!

webwart.png

sp.png

Added Bluebird!

If Chad collects this little bird, he will be able to fly-- at least, until he takes damage!

bluebird.png

by.png

Added Dressguard!

This brand new boss is more than simply a wooden wardrobe; it will throw clothing at Chad! That may not sound so bad, until you realize that if Chad doesn't dodge these clothes, he'll be completely unable to move for 10 seconds! On top of all that, this dresser will teleport all over the place... yikes!

dressguard.png

d1.png

Added Big Boy!

This absolute unit of a boss will usually stand idly by, breathing menacingly. If Chad gets close enough, it will stare at him, but if Chad gets even closer, it will charge towards him! Of course, if the boss collides with Chad, Chad will take damage. But if Chad jumps over it, it'll crash into the edge of the screen and damage itself-- but don't celebrate just yet, Chad. The impact of this boss crashing is enough to send down a meteor shower, and now Chad must avoid falling rocks!

big_boy.png

y1.png

And there... might... be more on the way!

I still have a really good idea on a new feature to add, but it would take forever and might make the EXE even more janky... similarly, I would usually make some more campaign modes to show off new features, and I plan to, but I can't make any promises for a variety of reasons. So I can't confirm if there's going to be a whole bunch of new stuff, but I can say that I would very much like there to be, it's just that technical limitations may prevent it sadly. All we can really do is hope!

Let me know what you think of these new features, and PLEASE be sure to join our Discord Server (https://discord.gg/keKBMdW) and not only play other people's awesome levels, but share your own as well!

[March 31, 2021, 5:42 AM - v0.1.5 - The Boombox Update]

Battery Chad Builder v0.1.5 is here! Check out what's new in this article!

Battery Chad Builder v0.1.5 has arrived, and with it comes many new additions and changes! Let's get some boring stuff out of the way first:

-Fixed intro sequence timing

-Modified projectile physics for Disc Von Doom

-Preset Ground will now go behind blocks, such as lava

-Enemies now have a death sound, and go in front of background elements such as pillars

-Saving is now much slower, but also more reliable, in an attempt to fix a potential (but not confirmed to exist) Save Duplication glitch

Alright, now fun stuff!

Added "Controls" UI Element

At long last, there is an in-game way to view the controls! Simply hover your mouse over the controller icon in the editor to view the controls diagram!

controls.png

Added Poison Blood!

Yet another item from Battery Chad: Shock the World arrives to Battery Chad Builder!

lava.png

bd.png

Added Boombox!

Want some additional tunes for your level? This item has got you covered!

boombox.png

r1.png

Added "Battery Chad: King of Keys" campaign mode!

To show off the new features that Keys, Locks, Arrow Blocks and more add to the game, this puzzle-solving focused campaign mode offers 6 new levels of pure Battery Chad Goodness! This mode is also now present as a world in "Battery Chad Builder: Ultimate Campaign"!

campaign44.png

Added "Battery Chad: Lava Lair" campaign mode!

Lava and Poison Blood add a whole new dynamic to the game, and this platforming focused campaign mode is on a mission to prove just that-- 6 brand-new levels of precision platforming! This mode is also now present as a world in "Battery Chad Builder: Ultimate Campaign"! This brings the total pre-installed level count to 30!

campaign55.png

[April 6, 2020, 12:47 AM - v0.1.6 - Random Endless]

Battery Chad Builder v0.1.6 is here! Only one new addition, but a total game-changer nonetheless!

Battery Chad Builder now has a "Random Endless" mode!

What is it?

Since lack of online features is one of the limitations of the engine that Battery Chad Builder is coded in, Battery Chad Builder cannot allow users to directly in-game upload levels, which is also why it cannot fetch user created levels for any kind of challenge mode. That being said, "Random Endless" is a mode where the game itself, or rather an AI in the game itself, will generate an infinite amount of random levels for Chad to play! While these levels may eventually get repetitive and boring, as they're very basic platforming levels, this new mode can still provide hours of entertainment-- and trust me, I tested that!

This new mode will add a whole new challenge to the game-- an endless amount of new levels for Chad to explore! While simple in nature, there are a few upsides-- at least Chad doesn't need an internet connection to play THIS endless mode!

How do I access it?

On the main menu you can click a button called "Campaigns" that will bring you to the Campaign Modes Menu. Once you're there, at the top-right corner of the screen you'll see two buttons, one that says "Return to Title" and one that says "Random Endless". I'll let you guess which one you click.

Want more? Let us know!

We here at the Battery Chad team, all one of us, are eager to create more awesome updates that add cool stuff to the game. However with the abundance of updates recently, I'm honestly fresh out of ideas. So if YOU have a concept for a cool game mechanic, enemy, or what-have-you, comment it on this post! I'm a very small developer, so the likelihood I'll see your comment is just about 100%. I'd LOVE to try adding more to the game and I can even credit you! Thanks, and that is all. Remember to join our Discord Server and share all of your awesome levels: https://discord.gg/zmr9hkK

(1 edit)

This is a series of updates that were made to the game in chronological order. These updates were made when the game was primarily hosted on a different site (which I have now ditched due to creative differences) and this is essentially a re-logging of them for archival purposes.

Chapter 1: The Classic Updates

These were updates made to the game shortly after it was initially released in 2019. These updates are just small changes I made to the game before taking a development hiatus.

[September 27, 2019, 5:54 PM - v0.0.2 - Pre-set Ground]

Hey friends!

Just released v0.0.2, added Pre-Set Ground and made a few bug fixes and general optimizations. Please re-download, and enjoy!

[September 28, 2019, 10:42 PM - v0.0.5 - The Score Update]

Patch v0.0.5

Hello once again!

Second patch that actually adds something; while v0.0.4 (hopefully) mostly fixed the physics, this just adds some quality of life changes.

-Added Score Requirement (set a number between 0 and 999999 that must match the player's score before they can beat the level)

-Dungeon clouds are now windows

-Fixed Sinkling colour issue

-Now when loading levels, the theme will be changed before loading blocks instead of after

These changes will affect your saved levels. To fix them, follow these 3 easy steps:

  1. Cut the last two characters of your old code
  2. After the first ten characters of your old code, type "000000" and then paste your last two characters
  3. Bravo! Code fixed!

[September 28, 2019, 11:23 PM - v0.0.6 - Alternative Forms]

Patch v0.0.6

New alternative forms! Click things to change them!

Dirt can now be changed into Yellow Blocks, and in the future, I'll add the fast-running Sinkling as well!

[September 29, 2019, 3:43 AM - v0.0.7 - The Worlds Update]

Patch v0.0.7

Create and save a whole game to a single code!

Introducing "World Codes"!!

You can now save up to 99 levels to a single "World Code", meaning you can create an ENTIRE GAME with Battery Chad Builder, and save it to a .txt document! How cool is that?

Chapter 2: The Revival Updates

These are updates I made when I revived the game in March of 2020 after not touching it for a while. These updates are where the majority of content currently in the game was added. I went all out, adding brand new characters and mechanics made specifically for this game.

[March 12, 2020, 7:29 PM - v0.0.9 - The Revival Update]

Battery Chad Builder v0.0.9 is now out, with 5 all-new enemies, 3 new blocks, instant level loading and much more! Read the article to check out what's new.

Levels now load almost instantly!

Get that world up and running in under 10 seconds!

Added Slowfall!

When Chad is falling, use your shock attack to slow his descent! This classic mechanic from Battery Chad: Shock the World is finally here!

chadwalk.png

Added Tapswitches and Hot/Cold Blocks!

When the Tapswitch is set to cold, the Cold Blocks are solid and the Hot Blocks are non-solid. But when set to hot, the roles reverse! Chad can activate the Tapswitch by shocking it, or getting an enemy to shock it for him.

cold_block.png

hot_block.png

tapswitch.png

Added Wattbot!

A lightbulb enemy who will jump at Chad!

wattbot.png

Added Hosenose!

This garden hose will track Chad's movement and crawl to wherever he is! To make matters worse, it can walk through anything...

hosenose.png

Added Wheatwalker!

Want some toast? Hope so, because this toaster is ready to shoot some at you, or rather, at Chad. This fella has got no shortage of bread, unless you're in the Layer-cake theme, in which case he'll shoot Pop Tarts! Look out!

wheatwalker.png

Added Stormfluff!

Such an adorable name for a cold-blooded cloud... this grey guy will spark with lightning every now and then, and when he does, look out-- that means he's about to zap Chad!

stormfluff.png

Added Lenslooker!

This may look like an ordinary video camera at first, but you just know a camera isn't normal when it stares at you. Lenslooker is usually looking away from the player, but every so often, Lenslooker squints one of his eyes open, and when he does, that's your warning to start staying still! Lenslooker will then turn around and watch for 5 seconds, and if he doesn't see Chad move, he'll fall back asleep... but if he DOES see Chad move, well, get ready for a bullet explosion!

lenslooker.png

And there's more on the way!

There are campaign modes being developed, bosses will soon be added, a Player's Guidebook is also in the works-- not to mention, Battery Chad: Topdown Turmoil is in development, which will even feature some of these new enemies!

[March 17, 2020, 1:09 AM - v0.1.0 - The Bosses Update]

Uh oh...

Battery Chad Builder v0.1.0 is here!

First, boring stuff:

-Fixed Item Wheel Glitch!

-Improved Wattbot Physics!

Okay, now cool stuff.

Added "Play" Button!

The Space key is no longer the only way to begin a level!

Added "Play From Screen" Button!

By clicking this button or pressing SHIFT+SPACE, you can start playing the level from a specific screen!

Added UI Auto-Hide!

Tired of holding C while building? UI elements will now helpfully move out of the way, all on their own, when you're building a level and your mouse gets close to them!

Added "BOSSES" Wheel!

Boss enemies have 3 different difficulty modes that you can toggle by clicking them in the editor! Green = Easy, Yellow = Normal and Red = Hard! Boss enemies can behave in unique ways depending on their difficulty.

Added Blackout!

What's a great boss for Battery Chad? Why of course-- a giant battery! Blackout will laugh, smite and jump towards Chad and try to crush him, but make sure you don't use your shock attack, or you'll "charge" his health up! Instead, wait for Blackout to... drain... himself of energy!

Added Sinkautro!

Sinkautro is finally here! Chad can have fun defeating his long-time nemesis, Sinkautro! Sinkautro will go around the edges of the screen until being shocked or hurting Chad! In Hard difficulty, Sinkautro will shoot water blasts at Chad!

The title screen now features a "Campaigns" button, which upon being clicked will take you to this screen:

Here you have 3 6-level campaigns, "Battery Chad: Recharged and Reloading", "Battery Chad: Power Panic" and "Battery Chad: Plugged and Powered". These bite-sized campaigns show off some ideas for how to use your simple toolset to create fun, challenging levels! But what if you'd rather play one long, continuous set of levels? Well, "Battery Chad Builder: Ultimate Campaign" will load all 3 campaign modes as if they were one single campaign mode, so you can enjoy 18 brand-new official Battery Chad levels as though you were playing a brand new game! Neat, right? We thought so too! Enjoy the new content, and remember to share your OWN campaign modes on our Discord server: https://discord.gg/keKBMdW

Now you're playing with power-- Battery Power!

Oh, and this update also adds a handful of secret easter-eggs... see if you can find them!

[March 26, 2020, 10:20 AM - v0.1.3 - The Key Update]

Battery Chad Builder v0.1.3-- "The Key Update"-- is here! What's new? 12 new additions! Read all about it here.

Added Lava!

Remember that bubbly stuff in Battery Chad: Shock the World? Well, it's here now too as an alternate form for Skulls! What does that mean? It means after placing some Skulls, click them, and they will change into Lava!

Added Locks!

A solid block at first glance... however, if Chad happens to have obtained a key and touches one of these "solid blocks", it will suddenly disappear, and Chad can walk through it! Wait, what if there are two locks? Well, as long as Chad has two keys, it shouldn't be an issue!

Added Keys!

These shiny collectables unlock Locks, and respond to gravity as well as Arrow Blocks!

Added Arrow Blocks!

Right and Left Arrow blocks that make Chad walk without the need for user input, an Up Arrow block that will make Chad jump, and a Down Arrow block, that Chad can teleport beneath if he presses "S" while standing on one! However, these incredible auto-moving blocks move not only Chad, but Keys as well! Perhaps some contraptions are made possible with this...?

Added Battery Boxes!

If there are two of these in a level, touching one of them will take Chad to the other one! It's basically a warp box... you can place up to 2 pairs of Battery Boxes per level!

Added Tips!

Don't know what something does? No problem! Now whenever selecting an item from the item wheel, a non-intrusive box will appear in the centre of the screen containing the block name, block ID, block collision, block category, and a brief description with details such as mechanics and alternate forms! And best of all, they're optional-- if for whatever reason you don't like the tips, simply press "X" to toggle them on or off!

And there's more on the way!

To showcase all these new features, a new campaign mode "Battery Chad: King of Keys" is in the works! When complete, a 0.1.4 patch will release, including the campaign mode as both an option on the "campaigns" menu, and an added world to "Battery Chad Builder: Ultimate Campaign"! Get ready!

[March 27, 2020, 2:13 PM - v0.1.4 - Disc Von Doom]
