The game has a really cool atmosphere. It took me a hot minute to realise that you're actually growing with time but that makes for a really cool, subtle introduction to it imo. UE5 visuals definetly do this type of game good (although my gpu was putting in work lol).

First off: It's a great feat to publish a game, especially if it is one of your first!
There were a few visual kinks and flaws, which I am familiar with in unity (Sprite sorting layers being off, visible gaps between sprites and a flickery/stuttery character when moving). The stutteriness of the character can probably be fixed by moving the cam in LateUpdate() instead of Update() and/or activating Interpolation on your characters' Rigidbody, but I'm not totally sure if that works in every case.
I am a bit irritated by the audio. The noise you hear once walking is pretty annoying in my opinion. Also some sounds get cut out or not played properly often times.
BUT the game already sets up a good foundation for decent gameplay! Eventhough it is a bit hard to kill the slimes once you get close to them, I was able to figure out a few tactics. The game also has some logic like currency collection and buttons that activate doors which is really cool! I'm a bit sad that I didn't figure out how to get past the door after the shop guy but it could've been user error.
Please keep working on learning the workflow in unity (or any other game engine) and you'll get even better in no time!
The visuals have a nice and unique feel and I love the introduction.
It may be just me being stupid, but as this basically uses its' own language (I think at least), it would be nice to have some sort of tutorial like building a very simple example script. I think once you get guided through the very basics it could be VERY fun, but I just lack the wrinkles on my brain and attention span to completely learn it by myself.
I'm sorry to say, but the game is not fun at the moment. You completely lack the ability to control anything besides a very temporary gain in stats.
It's completely luck based when balls collide with eachother. It took me upwards of 10 minutes waiting to get past wave 1. You definetly need some sort of control over your balls.
Also, it would be nice if you could color/mark the players' balls differntly so as to know which ability you have to press.
BUT I appreciate your effort and hope you continue to learn and to build more games!
Stunning graphics for a game jam! You can clearly see that 5 talented people worked on this game. I also really like the music and sound design in general.
The early game does feel a bit random with where and when galaxies spawn and it's way harder to progress when you are moving too much. The late game however gets a bit too easy with the increase in size and most importantly vision. I feel like you can pretty much survive forever once you hit a size of ~50.
Game is really fun and polished, though. I'm just being a tad harsher on the small details as I want to consider the group size and that there isn't really anything else to critize.
Good job on a really nice looking game!
The game has a fun interpretation of the theme! I really like the visuals. There's lots of detail.
I will neither add nor remove any points for the ai song as I really dislike the use of it but it's also too subjective to note it negatively. The click sound is a bit too high for my taste and starts o hurt a bit after many clicks.
Execution is very cute, though and I really enjoyed what I saw.
I would have really loved to try out the game some more but the camera bug makes it a bit hard.
Pulling yourself towards a platform feels pretty good but the swinging felt a bit hard to control/ to gain height. May be that hard because of the cam restriction, though. I could see how the game is actually fun without the cam being bugged and I think a fix would be worth it!
Edit: oh and the character model is really funny :)
Also I was able to glitch myself out of bounds with the red spell lol
I unfortunatly do not see the theme implemented at all. You could maybe argue that the lava grows??
I really hate that you did not credit the assets you used for the visual side of the game and even sold it as yours in the credits. That's really bad manners in the field of art, especially when the assets are free adn well known.
The game itself does not seem to scale with refresh rate. I had to change my monitor to 60hz for it to be playable as it was way too fast and sensitive on 200hz.
Idea is a somewhat fun, basic platformer but please refrain from selling game assets as yours.
Fun tower defense idea while implementing the growth theme!
I felt like the progress was a bit slow for my liking. The plants seem to to take quite a bit to be harvestable and there's a lot of uptime between waves in which you cannot do much.
The art looks really good and the rat's pretty cute (also nice to have a rat dancing over my defeat lol)
Great progress!
Choosing and playing cards has a pretty simple Balatro vibe which I like.
The cards move out of screen when having too many in hand and I thought it was a bit hard to place them into a slot sometimes (as if the hitbox for it was very small). It was also very easy to reach each days' goal and even if scoring nothing I could've survived at least 2 days at some point.
Special effects for scoring would make this game feel way more alive but that's obviously not to be expected on a short jam like this.
Great work!
It is fun for a bit but I find it a tad bit hard.
The energy bar feels very restricting on the players' ability to defend themself and the vines one hitting also feels a bit unfair in my opinion. Some life regeneration items could be a nice addition as to not punish the players' mistakes too hard.
Overall good concept and pretty good progress in the given time!
The game definetly has a fun idea for a puzzle game!
The plants growing and overall level progression felt a tad to slow which artificially stretches the playtime of each level. That slow speed also make a full level reset really punishing. The plants were sometimes planted in the air because I think the seeds can collide with the player.
I liked the simplicity of the assets, although the color palette was a bit of an eyesore. Level design was pretty fun, though and I especially liked how there are multiple solutions to one problem!
I really like the idea of controling the plant as it also seems to have a mind of its own!
The game and control speed is definetly affected by the refresh rate (I tried the game on 200Hz and 60Hz and the difference is noticable) I don't quite know how this is handled in Godot but the equivalent in unity would be scaling the growth and input controls by Time.deltaTime.
Other than that I really enjoyed the game, especially the looks of the plant growing were really interesting!
It's a cute little idea!
I saw you saying that you don't know a lot about coding and that's fine. As you said yourself, you learnt something while creating this game and that's what this jam is for!
Just keep learning new stuff step by step and get familiar with your game engine and you'll get better in no time :)
AM I KILLING PEOPLE TO GET THEIR COINS???
I guess that would make sense as the character is supposed to be a zombie later on. Game definetly has some foundations set for the future but a couple of important mechanics don't work yet. Tools don't seem to matter as I can punch stuff with an empty hand and the finished structures don't do anything yet (At least I don't think they do). Because of this the game lacks a game loop but as this game is probably one of your first projects it's a reasonable beginning.
As for sugestions I'd like to have a full screen option as it is a bit hard to see details in the browser at this scale and creating a basic logic for the tools would be great as well.
Other than that a good start! just keep learning stuff and you'll make progress along the way :)
Actually the first game I tried in this jam. It feels really polished given the time of the jam and the visuals give a very cool vibe.
It first took me a bit to know what to do but that was just me being dumb lol.
Also, the whole visuals give me the markiplier horror game vibes which I really like.
Really fun game to play when you're bored!
Thank you for the positive feedback!
You have indeed played the release version of the game. I am planning to upload one update in which I fix the sound being disabled automatically upon startup. And yes, the pink sphere was left in unintentionally. It just marks one of the checkpoints for the yellow person.
The visuals and music are stunning given the timeframe, especially the cover art! Unfortunatly I couldn't really figure out what happens really in the game. I'm able to place most of the shrooms but path shrooms don't seem to do something when trying to place them. Aside from a fire spreading I don't see anything happening for me.
The bugs are a shame as the game itself looks really promising.
The idea is cool but I am confused whether the growth is supposed to be a good or a bad thing (it definetly makes it harder to avoid obstacles but idk what the growth upgrade does). Moving feels a bit slow and it's a bit hard to really avoid obstacles at times. Nice progress in the given time, though!
That's an interesting idea for the theme! I noticed a few quirks that come from unity and I went trough at the start as well but nothing too bad. I think the concept could hugely benefit from using a grid to build stuff.
But considering this is your first game it's pretty neat. Definetly don't stop learning stuff, it's super rewarding!
