It was my first experience with Godot and particle effects. They are also the cause of lags as I spawn too many of them xD
I am glad that you liked the game :)

Agar.io was one of the inspirations. If you like these types of games, look into Tasty Planet games as well. Also happy to hear that sounds were pleasant to listen to - my main concern was that repetitive sounds would start to grind on brain, hence why I picked something what could be easily modulated and soft on the ear :)
Thank you for such a detailed review deadshotninja.
I was considering going with sprites, but scaling them would make game look a bit choppy (maybe there is nice scaling and interpolation - still learning about it) + I wanted to go with agar.io style (and wanted to see how primitive drawing works).
With music I did not what music to put there (more of a me issue here).
Optimization was bad cos I over-did particles and did not test the game on machines with different configurations (something I will pay more attention too).
I am glad you liked the game and left a detailed review for it. Have a nice weekend :D
Hi there, I tried your game.
Overall it is an okay game for 5 minutes. This game can grow greatly if you will plan to develop it further.
There are some notes regarding the game which could be improved:
- Sound: Sound effects are repetitive. Do not know if Unity has it, but adding some random modulation (and potential other sound alterations) will greatly improve the auditory experience without the need to go and search extra sounds.
-Lack of enemy variety: Although they look different, they act in similar fashion. Different rates of fire, or occasional alteration in their movement velocity would greatly improve it.
I hope I am not too harsh on you. I wish you to grow further as a game dev :)

Hi there Quinn, me and ClockworkG joined in together (both programmers). If you are still interested, join us on this link: https://discord.gg/MutcbRc8
Due to strange circumstances and "I wanna try it", I may be able to form a team. If all goes well, there may be a composer, an artist and a kid who wants to learn coding, and myself. The idea is to have it more of a chill jam (no overworking/34 hour long binges). More will be planned/talked about if and when we all assemble.
I setted up a discord server. shall I post a link here or send it to you?
Also will be going off comms in 10 minutes as it is a late night where I am.
Hey there,
I plan to do this gamejam and I am okay with taking someone along the way (plus I do know your language). I would like to know how new you are to programming, what you want to achieve with this gamejam, and if you are okay about teaming up with someone who is way older (31).
Although I am experienced in programming, I am currently learning Godot engine. Here is what I did for a last gamejam: https://filofej.itch.io/the-blobby
Hey there, I noticed that we may all speak the same language here. I am new to Godot, but do have some experience in programming and stuff. I will type in English cos I lack a keyboard. Also I recently finished a small game for a Gamedev Jam and want to do this one as well: https://filofej.itch.io/the-blobby
-Superarseniy: how new you are to programming and what do you think about Godot ( https://godotengine.org/ )? Also what you want to achieve with this gamejam?
-pchila: I plan to take this jam pretty casually and not go overboard with it (at least I hope so). Let me know if you are interested
Greetings BanzaiSoftware,
Here is my casual agario/Tasty Planets game: https://filofej.itch.io/the-blobby
Designed to be short and casual fun :)
The music is missing because I did not find anything I liked. Lag is most likely caused by all of the particles and entities are getting destroyed after 1 to 4 seconds of being outside of the viewport. It is strange that you are having crazily quick enemies though... can you say which enemies they are? Are they the spinning squares or red circles?
Thank you for commenting and leaving good criticism which I will employ to improve my game design :)
That is understandable. Also I am curious though - the 1gb file size is for all game versions together or per game version? I submitted windows and linux version of my game and they appear to be treated as separate entities. If this is not an ordeal and is of interest to you, could you try to upload Linux version as well? (just name it distinctly from your original release so that you do not override it).
Thank you and pardon me for the request.
