This is such a charming and fun game!! I really love WarioWare games, so this was a pleasant surprise! I felt really nostalgic to playing games on my gameboy as a kid. I really like the spooky vibe of the game, the music and art worked really well together! I'm already ready for Halloween, so I got excited seeing a spooky-themed game lol.
I was a little confused about the microgame where you need to press the 'B' button to fire at the enemy. It worked when I clicked the red button on the UI, but at first I had tried the 'B' key on my keyboard. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to be able to use my keyboard for that one or not, but all the other key inputs like Spacebar and arrow keys had worked for the other games. Overall, a fun game that I had a lot of fun playing!
I liked the graphics, especially the cute slime character! Its bouncy animations were really cute. I also think the upgrade system was fun and adding the double or nothing limitation to it was interesting! I agree with others that it was a little difficult to hit the shift button for dash. Great work!
Thank you for your feedback!
Regarding the choice to bail out, I thought about adding a feature like that or the option to reject double or nothing mode. However, I think it's fun to have to make a choice despite the risk of failure! When you're having to risk all your points with your decision, it makes the win more impactful.
I really like the art and sound! Everything was so cute and charming. I had a lot of fun fishing up the little fishes, though it was pretty challenging dodging some of them the lower I fished! I finally got a swordfish at the end, but a boot drifted into my line on my way to get the second one haha. I wish there had been a way to release the fishes I didn't want, since it was so easy for random ones to swim into my line. While I was playing, I was thinking it could be fun if you were filling out an encyclopedia or something of the different fishes in the area while you fished.
I thought the game was really cute! I liked the style of the visuals and it was fun to chase after the gazelles. On the water levels especially, I was having some trouble with killing the gazelles. I was hitting them, but it seemed to take 2 hits to kill them. I'm not sure if that was intended or if I just didn't build up enough velocity or something to do enough damage? Regardless, I had fun playing. :^)
I really like the art style and the animation you made for the opening. I thought the game was really spooky and creepy and I liked the vibe you went for. Unfortunately I had a lot of trouble with the controls, so I couldn't make it past the first room. I think if the controls were made a little easier to use I'd really enjoy to be able to see more of the game!
Your art is so pretty, I loved seeing the different assets while I played! I think the gameplay needs a little more work, the controls were a bit slippery and I wasn't sure what to do when the enemy appeared like the other reviewer said. An instruction screen or something before loading into the game could help clarify to the player what they should do. I think there's a lot of potential here and you could work on it more post-jam if you wanted and have a solid little game to show off. :^)
This was really unique for a jam game! I have been replaying Undertale so it was cool to see something similar here. I really liked your art! I liked seeing all the hand-drawn assets. The different attacks for each enemy was cool and I liked the unique battle effects you made for each one. The flashing background was a little uncomfortable for my eyes, something moving slower or a static image might've been easier on the eyes. Overall though, I think you did a great job! Keep up the great work. :^)
I'm not sure, I definitely see why you chose what you chose since they're all quick to press. As for alternative ideas, I guess maybe you could have one attack input like left mouse click, then you could toggle attack types with another key (right click, left/right arrows, scroll mouse wheel) to choose the color. Another idea could be selecting the type of attack directly with maybe the number keys (1, 2, 3) then click to cast the selected color spell.
This was interesting, I couldn't read the note like another reviewer said because when I pressed E, the note wouldn't stay on the screen. I did get really scared by the big orange "eye" that kept popping up lol. I wish I had understood what the objective was a little more (this might've been in the note I couldn't read), since I was just wandering around at the end and couldn't find the win condition. The camera movement did give me a little motion sickness, I think a static camera or a less "floaty" camera would feel better. I did like the black and white color scheme to emphasize the light vs the darkness, it had a cool look. Great job!
This was really interesting! I liked the feel of casting spells at the enemies, it was fun to walk around and explore the level. I was disappointed that there wasn't a way to pick up the armor that was on the floor in one of the rooms on the right, I tried all the keys lol. The screen shake effects were a little intense for me though, I felt a little motion sick and it would be nice to have an option to tone that down should you keep working on it. Great job, I think you could definitely work on this project further and make a cool little game out of it! :^)
I like the graphics a lot, the little mushroom enemies were really cute! I also liked the little dungeon room and the lighting you used. The controls with blue being Spacebar did confuse me a little since I wanted to click out of reflex on the enemies, but I was able to play for a while before I died to a bunch of mushrooms backing me into a corner lol. Great job!
Really unique idea, I paid off my debt at 68.55! The frog was really cute. I had trouble reading the symbol boxes and kind of understanding what I had to do. It took me dying on my first try to figure the controls out lol. I think a small tutorial page before the game would help and maybe making sure there's more contrast between the color boxes because I had to squint to read the symbols. Great work :^)
