Just making my presence known and wishing you a happy new year brother.
On the note of your future game, I'll keep a lookout, I do enjoy empire building and management games, so it is right up my alley, on the novels side I haven't read much similar, the closest I can think I read is Release That Witch, which does focus on politics and technology progress, but with a sprinkle of magic.
Thanks for the recs, and I'll leave this one as a rec if you haven't heard of it yet, summary would be someone from our world teleported to a more medieval time in the body of a somewhat ostracized noble from a small place with seemingly no future, but it is a world that has witches that are hunted down, the mc decides to ally with those witches instead, and using their magic +modern knowledge starts making his rise in power and advancements.
The mc doesn't really really have any powers tho, which I guess you don't mind, his role is more of a leader and supporter.

Hey there, something of returning player from I think 0.1.6x, loving the new changes since 0.2, but I'm curious about how to get that mana circulations skill again.
I remember in the past you got it pretty easily at apprentice or something like that, the wiki says you have to talk to that Reliquary Worker, but to me the only options related to learning anything is "Learn more advanced magic", and he only tells me he can't teach me anything, that I should search for the guild or academy.
Since I'm guessing entering the academy requires beating the Imperial Army first, it's still a bit before I can do that, is it also taught at the academy now? I've gotten mana bolt from the guild, but that's it currently.
Edit: It became an option to learn from reliquary worker all of a sudden, only thing of note I've done is become an Expert in Evasion, Mana Control is still at 25, not sure what triggered it still. Wait, the Regeneration skill? just got that as well.
Is this still in the works? Has potential.
To add to @John333rfrr, ???'s Enigmatic Power doesn't work either, and on my end skill books aren't working at all, they disappear when used but no new skill. Also yeah, guild management would be interesting, and some balancing needs to be done with ranking as well as combat, as he said, you need to be ridiculously overpowered to have a chance, killed my first lvl 1 at like 20.
So, noticed my normal attacks started hitting twice, does it have anything to do with unarmed combat or was it a coincidence it started around when I hit journeyman? maybe the agility stat?
Btw, axe + dodging is pretty strong, just beat the empire guys with it by normal attacking>defending(dodging) in turn as now I can get two turns in before them, healed with Mana circulation only once and it was cause of poison that I have low resistance . With evasion level 50(expert), the normal soldiers where doing only 5 damage and the general ~100 which is more than manageable.
I'll say tho, there's not much incentivizing the use of mighty chop, mighty cleave has its uses when dealing with multiple weak opponents, but now that I attack twice, I'm doing way more damage with normal attacks than with mighty chop.
On that note, unarmed combat isn't much incentivized either, in the previous build I got journeyman on it due to the counterattack chance, but this new update made it a bit too limited I think. I know you'll probably add skills and do some rebalancing perhaps to make it worthwhile in the future, but as it stands, the axe overshadows unarmed by quite a lot. To be fair tho, with unarmed at 31, I'm doing way more damage than I used to, maybe if I get it to expert like I did to Axe it would be closer, but I remember the axe just being straigh up better from the start.
I also think it's way too easy to train axe in relation to unarmed now that we have the clock thing, it trains axe+evasion+shield mastery, I know if you add unarmed to that as well it may become way too op of a training, but what you could do if possible, is make it where if you have shield equipped it trains shield mastery and if not evasion, and if you have axe equipped, axe mastery and if not unarmed. I don't know if the code allows that check, but it would make it less op and make it more fair to unarmed.
Little bug, if you chop down that starting tree while it's falling, pieces hit you, yet you survive, the scene continues, but after Graham says they have to take the log to the pile next to the office, the "Alright it's coming down..." scene happens again, meaning you can keep chopping the falling tree infinitely and can't really progress if you don't have enough evasion for the dodge option or the "brace yourself" options kills you
Can confirm that I also got it in this version, I'm pretty sure I got it dying in the caves, maybe dying in a fight is a requirement to first get it? I remember Graham said something to the effect of "I can't go down like this" when I got it
Edit: There's instructions of how to get it in the wiki, spoilers of course so click it if you want: https://learning-curve-rpg.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_Skills
Some notes about version 0.1.5d to the point I've currently played to.
These are more so about QoL, so I would recommend giving these more priority if possible:
- Like othe people suggested, add a way to do an action x number of times.
- A better way to view all skills at once, organized and categorized in a window maybe instead of the current one by one method, if it's possible of course, don't know much about how rpgmaker works.
These will be simply about cohesion, nothing major, I'll understand if trying to addall these branches takes time better applyied to other things or breaks some of the game's logic, a lot of these will also be me being nitpicky as hell lol:
- Check if fishing skill is present when the vision with his father happens, as currently even if you have it, Graham says he never ended up getting it, also keep track of fishing in the status as it's currently not showing.
- At the start, if you try to enter the office, Old Man Harris blocks you when he's at home and Mrs. Harris blocks you later which gives you the option to lie to her, on which if you fail, she says she's been there all morning and didn't hear him give you permission, but ever since you first got permission from him, she auto believes you and he also doesn't block you again even in next loops, which kinda contradicts the state they operate prior to that, making it seem this permission is transferring from loop to loop.
It also has the effect of blocking deception training there, currently not a problem since you can do so in the Emmy's room, but could potentionally block off deception training altogether if her room receives permanent access as well and there's no other ways of training it.
A way to make this work is adding a switch that resets on every loop, indicating whether you've gotten permission or not yet, or simply resetting the current switch it probably already has every time. Letting you enter normally if true or triggering the lie option if not, which leaves the success to a deception check.
Maybe this was done deliberately to avoid having to ask permission every time tho, which is fair. We can simply apply the logic that Graham asks permission without we seeing every time from then on, there's no problem with abstracting some things, but it would be better to make a decision on whether you want most things to reset, or if you'll follow an abstraction route when you can.
- At some point he starts to tell the old guy he already knows mighty chop and what he has to do when you enter the scene, but if you talk to him the dialogue where he tries to teach you it happens anyway. Maybe you can simply enable the mighty chop training by dafault from there on out and have him tell you something like "you know it already? cool, you can train in the stump next to me if you want", something to that effect.
After all the nagging, let me just say thank you and keep up the good work, you've no idea how excited I was when I this game recommended in the author's note. Been looking for a game like this ever since I started reading the novel.
