Thank you for the detailed response. The information about the tags, build size, and the manual approval process for major updates is genuinely useful, and we’ll review those points.

To clarify, I never expected itch.io to make the game successful simply because it exists on the platform, nor did I expect “wonders.” We are already actively promoting the game elsewhere and working hard to build a community. My concern was specifically that the game had never appeared in the recent listings—not even briefly—either for its initial release or for this update, while those sections seem to be an important source of discoverability for many similar projects.

Version 0.2 represents several months of work and adds a substantial amount of new content, so from our perspective it was a major update. However, I understand now that itch.io may not classify updates based solely on the amount of work or content added, and that the freshness boost is neither automatic nor guaranteed.

Regarding the tags, that is a fair criticism. We focused too heavily on describing the format and adult nature of the game rather than its actual themes and gameplay features. We’ll take another look at them and try to use more distinctive and relevant tags.

Thanks again for taking the time to explain this and for sharing the build-size guide.

Plus, I do not expect itchio to make me famous, not at all. I’m saying that every other website where my game appears is helping me and giving visibility to the game by making it appear in recently update or new game at least. I dont understand why itchio doesn’t and just leave me at the bottom of the search.

And I totally understand but when I spoke about it with other game creators(especially NSFW), their statistics were clearly showing that being in the recently update is a must have. I’m working my ass off on my end, but idk how itchio is helping me to build a community if players have to dig for 5 minutes to find my game.

Hi,

Thank you for you response. I don’t understand how « recently update » is not systematic when the game is recently update. You are telling me « if you want visibility you have to be famous » but we need visibility for that. I dont get it.

Can I get an answer or some help from a moderator/administrator ?

thank you,

Hello,

I'm posting this because our game Bewitched still does not seem to appear in the Recent Updates / Recently Updated section after publishing a major update. This already happened when we first released the game.

At the time, we were told that we should wait, as it could take some time. We waited several weeks, but nothing ever changed. We eventually assumed we did something wrong and hoped that things would work better for version 0.2. Today, we released version 0.2 of the game. We uploaded the new public builds, made sure the page is public, and published a devlog marked as a Major Update.

However, several hours later, the game still does not appear in the recent/updated listings. We can see other games appearing or reappearing in the recent sections after updates, but ours does not seem to be indexed or boosted at all. This is seriously affecting the visibility of the game, especially after a major update that took a lot of work, testing, and polishing to prepare.

We honestly don’t know what we are doing wrong, and we can’t find any solution on our side. We've read every guides and followed every steps but nothing seems to be working.
Please, could you help us check if there is an issue with the project’s indexing, visibility, or major update freshness boost? This visibility is very important for a small project like ours, and we would really appreciate your help.

Yeah! Thank you for you help!

Do you have any idea of how can I make it appear at the beginning of the search tag? I mean the game as been indexed just now but went out a 2 month earlier so its pretty down in the research :/

Hi,

Thank you for the answer! :)

In that case, if I switch the game to “donations disabled” mode, will it be listed quickly? Or do I have to do some extra steps?

Thanks

Hello,

I’m reaching out regarding our game "Bewitched".

We published the game on April 2nd after we meticulously read the docs and followed every steps but it still does not appear to be indexed or visible on the platform. As a result, it is difficult for users to find it through search or browsing.

Could you please check if there is any issue with the listing or if additional steps are required on our end to make the game properly indexed? Or is it possible to request a manual indexing?

Thank you for your time and assistance.

Best regards,

Exquisite Studio
