Love this idea, really excited to see how this system comes together! And big congrats on getting your master's!

Really exciting seeing the world/characters and mechanics being fleshed out! The randomized mechanics sound really cool, especially the Gambler. Variance across playthroughs is a really cool idea for a visual novel, it reminds me of the game Gnosia from a couple of years ago. Replayability in VNs are usually pretty low, so I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out here!

Of course, I'm really looking forward to the next chapter! Personally, I have really enjoyed the fast pace, but taking time to develop the cast is an important consideration, I'm excited to see how you will handle the characters in the future.

Also, I left you a DM on your Instagram, not sure if you got a chance to see it. Anyways, good luck with the next chapter! Definitely going to suggest this game to some friends.

I just finished the demo, this game is incredible! I'm really looking forward to seeing future chapters. The writing is exceptionally sharp and it's also very fast-paced, getting to the spicy stuff quickly while still setting up a large cast of characters. I would recommend anyone that is a fan of other adventure/visual novel series like Danganronpa or Zero Escape to give this project a try. While this game feels like it draws influence from those titles and similar ones in the genre, I think it manages to carve out its own identity, due mainly to the wonderful art and writing. The developer also makes good use of characters interrupting each other mid-sentence, which isn't seen enough in this medium.

I played the updated demo patch and didn't encounter any bugs or issues, so it seems like those were all resolved. The puzzles so far have been pretty logical and not too frustrating. I'm really excited to see where the story goes from here and how the game mechanics continue to develop. This is an impressive high-quality project for a solo dev, and so I hope D-MO is able to eventually finish this game. I'll definitely be following any updates!

Legitimately one of the most enjoyable platformers I've played in a long time. The little sushi controls pretty well, and the levels are well laid out. I was really happy with how the plate mechanic is foreshadowed by the already cracked plates on the ground, it's a nice level of polish and care in the visuals.

The only issue I had was the hit detection on the horned sushi enemy felt a bit off, but that might have just been me being bad at the game. I think some additional post-processing visual effects and more distinction between the foreground and background could really take this game to the next level, the character sprites and backgrounds are already pretty great.

Definitely a project I want to return to in the future for some quick fun platforming!

This is a lovely game that feels very polished, I'm not very good at SHMUPs myself but I had a blast while losing. The enemy designs are cute and the chiptune music is catchy!

This is a really clever take on the genre, I'm a big fan of puyo puyo and tetris, and I felt right at home playing this. Would love to see more features in future updates. Keep up the good work!

Great game, a nice modern version of games like King's Knight for the NES

Just fought a few rounds, this is a really cool concept, hope to see more full-fledged projects from you in the future!

This is a crazy high-quality game, love the sprite work and the CRT shader is put to good use here. Keep it up!

Adorable game, love the art and voices!

Hey Liam, I just played through the first case twice and I found your project really exciting! There are a few janky things like you mentioned, but the overall presentation is great, and I think you really nailed the noir vibes, even with what you labeled as placeholder visuals. My favorite visual novel of all time is Kara no Shoujo 2, another detective-style game, and Noir in Hong Kong scratched the same itch for me. I hope you continue to develop this project because I already see a lot of potential in it!

If you're interested, I would love to compose a free music track for you to use exclusively in your project however you want, like a song for the interrogation scenes. Feel free to reach out to me if you're into the idea, my email is on my profile page!

Hey everyone, this is the first asset pack I'm releasing on itch.io! It contains 12 looping tracks of videogame music partly inspired by East-Asian folk and orchestral music. It is tailored towards RPG/JRPG projects but you can use it for whatever genre you want. The tracks feature several recurring leitmotifs that create a more cohesive soundtrack for your project.  I hope you give it a listen, thanks!
