Hey everyone :)!
I'm pumped to announce that after a lot of hard work, our game Burnt Toast is finally available!
It's a short first-person horror where a seemingly harmless search quickly spirals into a disorienting, surreal experience. With every blink, mundane items begin to shift around you, and you find yourself caught up in something much more sinister than you ever imagined.
We've put a lot of passion into creating this unique experience, and we hope you enjoy playing it!
You can get the game right here on itch.io!
Thank you so much for your support <3!

Hey, thanks for sending over your specs and the screenshot!
It looks like your system is running out of memory during the main level load. I think you’re right - we’d need to add an options menu for graphics settings to help with this, although our terrain and characters might simply contain too much geometry!
But thanks again for giving it a shot and sharing your feedback - much appreciated!
This is a really cool concept! Love the overall aesthetic and nasty squelchy sounds! I felt like I was lacking a feeling of progression, perhaps the plants consuming the pools of blood as they grow, perhaps multiplying and spreading outwards, could be very satisfying! As it felt very difficult to make much of an impact on the cleaning, especially when I'm accidentally leaving bloody footprints everywhere xD!
Typing as I play:
- Love the menu/starting area, this is so cool!
- The bloody footsteps are such a cool touch
- Got stuck for a little bit unsure how to clean my mop, made an absolute mess lol! Got a little frustrated and attacked a watering can with my mop, turns out that was how to clean it xD!
- I wish I could carry a watering can + mop with me! Oh, I can!
- Tried planting some seeds on the nasty red balls of gore, watered them, but couldn't figure out why I want them or what they're for?
- Tried composting them
- Back to the menu, realized I can interact with the plants here!
Hey, I’m really sorry it crashed on you!
We kept our landscape and meshes low‑poly and only use Unreal’s default skylight, so it should run smoothly even on older Windows rigs.
On Windows 10/11 you can unpack the .7z natively - right‑click → Extract All, no extra tools needed.
Could you share your PC specs and the exact error message (or a screenshot)? I’d love to help troubleshoot and get you into the battle if possible!
Thank you for giving it a try and sharing your feedback though! I really appreciate it, I’m just sorry it didn’t work out!

1. What can I do? [Skills and Abilities]
Primarily C++/Blueprint & limited experience with GAS (with some contributions to Narxim-GAS-Example)
2. What would I like to focus on?
My primary objective is to find cool people/friends to collaborate with! I'm happy to slot in wherever I provide the most value - I'm interested in gameplay programming, game design/mechanics, sound design, VFX, landscape, foliage.
3. What can't I do?
Art 🥹
4. What don't I care about - i.e. other people can have "full reign" over?
Art/creative direction (I care about it - but I want the artist(s) to have full creative control!)
5. What is my time commitment to this project?
I have a decent amount of free time in April, so I can work on this a few hours per day :)
6. What kind of games do I like? What genres or game types do I enjoy playing or working on, or would like to try making?
Strategy, FPS, ARPG, Fighting, Narrative and more - ultimately I love games with fun mechanics and immersive atmosphere.
7. What's important to me
Echoing SQLPY's post, I'm looking for people who have a collaborative mindset (which I imagine you do if you're looking at this game jam 😅):
- Being open to having a back-and-forth on ideas and hearing each other out
- Speaking up when you disagree
- Respecting what we agree upon as group
- Giving feedback on each others parts of the project
- Not overworking yourself!
- Trusting each others judgments so we can have creative freedom
- Being kind to each other since we are all here to learn and have fun
So we can have fun working together to make something awesome!
Hey let me know if you'd like another UE5 dev!
I'm primarily a programmer (1 year in industry + some time solo), but I'm also interested in doing more with landscape, sound design and VFX. Overall I'm looking to keep improving my general knowledge with Unreal Engine, so I'm quite happy to slot in wherever I can add the most value. I also have a good amount of free time during April.
I'm @optimisor on Discord if you want to chat :)
