I am completely loving this program! I'm able to apply animations and effects to my sprites with ease!

The only problem is that I find that I'm bogging down the program with so many timer nodes. I wish we could connect a timer node to multiple properties.

Also, if I have no choice but to use multiple timer nodes, the option to duplicate nodes would be greatly appreciated so I wouldn't have to keep recreating the same node. 

While I'm at it, I also really wish you could set the number of columns or rows of the spritesheet when rendering.

Unless these features are already in the program, I would love to be corrected on this.

I am developing a dark monster-tamer called Pry Into The Void! 

I've been working on the demo for a while, and now it's time to shout into the Void about it!

Features:

  • A fun and challenging  turn-based combat system where you build the perfect party composition and exploit enemy weaknesses, inspired by the Shin Megami Tensei series.
  • Unique monster-taming mechanics where you converse with the souls of monsters, making branching moral decisions visual-novel style. Many monsters for you to recruit!
  • A bleak and depraved story that will challenge the way you think about each character. Make choices to affect how you see these characters. Can you truly judge a person as binary good or evil?

You're mistaken, Cursed Kingdom was a collaboration event by asset creators to make creepy assets, separately. "Animations Collections": Cursed Kingdom is an animation asset pack solely by Dreams Circle.  

Here are the other Cursed Kingdom asset packs by other creators. (Not to mention, they're actually listed on the Animations Collection: Cursed Kingdom" page itself, so they are actually mentioned along with the name of who created the asset pack)

And yeah, it's a free market. If you'd rather use assets by other creators who don't feel the need to be credited, feel free. I think it's well within Dream Circle's right to request credit. You'd be missing out though, because when it comes to magic animation, Dreams Circle's work is the best out there. You'd have to turn to a professional vfx studio to get animations on par as Dreams Circle, and that would cost you hundreds more.

I don't know what your definition of a serious developer is, but imo a developer serious about their work would think just giving credit is well worth the value of the assets they are getting. And trust me, if you go to a hired professional studio to get custom assets made, they would request credit too. You see studios credited all the time in indie and AAA games who handle vfx animations, an same goes for third party studios and creators who make music and art for games.

I really don't see how crediting them turns people away, I don't understand how an extra name in the credits would ruin your game.


And again, the product you are paying for is not the animation asset itself. It is the license to be able to use these animations on the terms of the creator, such terms may be giving credit. You do not own these assets after you pay for them. Same goes for any asset you download on itch.io or any other website, free or paid.

Yeah... Ideally you should credit everyone involved. You're only paying $15 for assets that would cost hundreds if you were to hire a professional to create custom unique assets for your game, and if you were to hire a professional they would ask to be credited too. You're paying $15 for the license to use these assets, not ownership of them. 

For $15 you're getting a boatload of value, the least you could do is support the creator by crediting them. All you have to do is copy and paste one line per asset pack: e.g. "Animations Collection: Cursed Kingdoms © Dreams Circle"

That's really all it takes. All developers credit where credit is due, indie, AAA or not. Just look at the credits for any commercially successful video game. Even successful 'solo dev' games like Stardew Valley and Undertale include credits to work by other people, even if they paid for it. 

Just keep a text file containing the names of all the third party assets you've used in your game, then copy and paste it all when it comes to implementing your credits. It's a tiny job compared to making the rest of the game so I don't see what the problem is.

By not crediting, you're pretending you made the asset yourself. Now that is unprofessional.

I don't see the problem with crediting. It's work you didn't do. You'd rather pretend you made these assets? 

All the people who worked on a game want to be credited for their work, doesn't matter if they're an employee or asset creator.

Lol oops, I just made the same mistake. My game engine uses .ttf so I can't use these. You can keep the $3, I want to support your works :) But perhaps it should be said more explicitly that these are not .ttf and only for Unity.

Perhaps you are, jk lol. I agree with you, it is a bit long and I would probably change it after the jam. 100 felt too predictable though, but 160 definitely is too much perhaps. Thanks!

I agree! I didn't get much time to playtest much, so lengths are a little long (and the amount of cookies to lose is very lenient). At least people are still beating the game, I'm grateful people enjoy the gameplay :D Thanks so much!

I might work on this after the jam to balance out level gates, didn't get to properly test how much exp you should ideally need to level up, but I don't think it's too bad at least. What kinds of ideas do you have for new level up perks? Thank you! :D

I just wanted to create a false sense of expectations haha. Starts with a normal clicker, the mouse starts twitching, then suddenly stuff happens and it gets out of control out of nowhere. I guess it gets in the way of repeat playthroughs though.  When you get to the shooter section you can just keep the mouse button down if that helps. Thank you so much!

Very confusing at first, but after I got used to it, it was frantic fun! Good job!

Cute pixel art! Makes for quite a relaxing game, albeit not a lot of engagement. It takes a long time and luck to collect coins, so the best strat is definitely having lots of chickens, so that all the coins are spread out.

Nice game! Good pixel art, decent gameplay. I especially love the banter between the two narrators. With some tighter gameplay and some expansion, this would be a neat game! Good job!

It's a neat little idea! Currently the strat is to spam Space as much as you can, and you can't fail. A little variety and challenge would be very cool! Good job on completing a game jam!

Awesome! Amazing pixel art and smooth animation. It can get a bit frustrating how you can't choose to when to jump, but that's part of challenge and the whole point of Out Of Control I guess haha. Good job, very well made!
