Heya, first devlog :)

I recently went live with a new feature, that allowed JustScroll to run as admin on startup. it was necessary, as some people complained that when a game runs in admin mode, JustScroll is disabled.

And I entirely botched it to a major degree.

If a user chose Admin mode, it would create a run-on-startup task. So far so good. Little did I know, it was setup to terminate after just 5 minutes, since that’s how Windows’ task scheduler works if you don’t configure it properly. Welp, it took me a whole week to realize I am not going crazy after another user complained that “it’s turned off for the 4th time today”. I never caught the issue, because I always restarted the app (to test this weird bug) by the executable and not using the startup task, so the issue was gone whenever I wanted to test it out. I even setup a machine and ran it for 3 days straight and it never terminated on me, because I didn’t run it from the task! SO MUCH TIME WASTED!! I am so happy someone came to me and reported it, which instantly lit up a lightbulb in my head - I don’t get the issue because I don’t restart my PC!

Well then, finally fixed, and made the release in a way that it would automatically get patched even if the user is unaware of the bug.

Whew! I feel like I’ve likely disappointed some users, and I hope they don’t hate me too much, I imagine this could’ve put them off the app.

JustScroll is a small app that allows you to adjust your volume by scrolling with your mouse, which can be very useful when you’re playing a game.

Project: https://ergeorgiev.itch.io/justscroll
Steam Key: IFXQE-DE2EM-MK39V

Key Features: Windows Key + Scroll - volume adjust without minimizing. Taskbar Scroll - volume adjust by scrolling with the cursor on the taskbar. Precision Scroll - volume scrolling while the left mouse button is held for a precise adjustment.

If you missed the steam key, feel free to grab the app here - https://ergeorgiev.itch.io/justscroll, it’s available for a very small amount.

Feedback I am looking for:

  • Does it work with the games you play? (the Win+Scroll feature). I have reports that RocketLeague blocks it in fullscreen.
  • Is it ergonomic for you, and is there any way you would improve it? Is the Win+Scroll a good combination?
  • Is there a chance the taskbar scroll would interfere with someone’s work? Is it worth adding a feature to disable it?
  • Does the Icon fit well with the style of your machine? I’ve added both White and Black versions for Light/Dark OS themes, but I am not sure it fits with just about everything.
  • Are the instructions clear enough for a new user, and if not, how can I make them better?
  • Anything else

Thank you!

I’ve been developing this for 10 years now, and have been running it using AutoHotkey scripts up until recently. Last year I decided to make it more performant, fix issues and create something I can share with my friends.

Introducing - JustScroll. A small app that allows you to adjust your volume by scrolling with your mouse. It is designed to be intuitive, comfortable and it feels like second nature from the very first scroll. Change the volume on the desktop, while gaming or while watching a video, JustScroll allows you to do all of that and more.

Key Features Windows Key + Scroll - volume adjust without minimizing. Taskbar Scroll - volume adjust by scrolling with the cursor on the taskbar. Precision Scroll - volume scrolling while the left mouse button is held for a precise adjustment.

Install-and-scroll, there is no setup required.

Thank you! :)

Kind Regards, Ed

P.S. Here’s a review from Steam:
