The old art can be viewed in the gallery room at the very bottom. Giving the option to play act 1 with the old art seems a little weird since the art style will change later into the game again. It would make more sense if it would affect the whole game I think.

It's mentioned in the included .txt file. If you've accessed Gato's Shop but still can't purchase the potion from Pudding then it's a very rare issue some computers have with this version. One way to solve it is to use someone else's save file who managed to buy it.
I'm sorry that the known bug is included in this version. It will be solved with the next release.
I made a .3 version that fixes it with a band-aid solution but it won't turn into a public release. It's quite messy and doesn't offer any new content over this one. The remaining issue seems to affect very few people so I'm hoping for the best.
The next content update is still in the works so it'll be more than a month for a public release. The mess regarding Pudding's Shop is properly cleaned up by then.
I don't think leveling up will become a mechanic. I prefer combat scaling being purely done through lewd events changing Luna's stats, and equipment.
The story talks about levels and EXP, and the game also collects EXP values in the background. Most likely I'll find some other use for it. (Collect enough EXP -> unlock "personal class trainer" story for Luna!?)
After accepting the quest from the mysterious stranger, start with the goblin close to the "hotel". The planks come much later.
I'm very sorry for sending you to the first town too early. I remembered the order of steps wrong myself!!
If you want full spoilers, you can go to the comment section of the game and scroll down for a bit or CTRL+F for "arcane". Someone wrote a step-by-step.
There are 3 NPCs in town you have to deliver the flyers to. One in the middle of town, one at the tavern area and one in the graveyard.
Afterwards, you have to wait until Luna randomly appears in front of Jam's shop again and then you try to enter to unlock the scene.
It is currently too difficult to unlock and many people have problems with it. I will make it easier in a future update.
There's a good ending for Anon and a "bad" ending for each antagonist. Getting one specific antagonist can be tricky so you unlock all of them when you get one of the the "bad" endings.
For Anon's pure ending you will need a new playthrough. However, I would say it's not worth the effort if you expect real vanilla content. It's mostly meant as a challenge.
You can't actually level up! The level system is just a ruse mechanic to put Luna into lewd situations later. The only way to get stronger is to buy better equipment, or have Pudding train Luna to increase her stats.
That said, you can still progress the game after losing to the boss! Fighting is really optional.
