You always have an option to not dig into their problems, that stops the quest before it begins :)

Although some optional events of your other characters might end up not happening as there might not be another character to fill that role.  But it's a pretty flexible system so there's always a second option for an event to trigger. For example, if bullied girl needs an assertive, sassy character for a cut scene, either lady fatale or ms prodigy could fill that role in that cutscene.

Do you find yourself utterly uninspired to climb the fame ladder after the initial grind? Well, now you'll have a good reason to. Your idols will now have their own personal stories centered around various popular archetypes.

I've been planning to make this mod for a while but only now did I figure out a few key things to make it happen. I'm making good progress, and I'd like to share!

Idols may reach out to you and express their problems.

Plenty of dialogue choices to spice up the conversation.

Will you help them and start their unique questline?

Not just your idols have personalities now, you do as well!

Once an idol gets selected for a quest, they aren't just performers. They are special. If they graduate, their quest is over, you miss out on their own personal story.

STARRING:

- The Ojousama: you find out she's the daughter of the president of some giant conglomerate. Will you help her remain incognito? Or leverage her name for your own personal gain?

- Ms Prodigy: Mighty with her feet and voice in equal measure, she's the envy of your entire team. In her you find a hard working, proud girl, but will you manage to temper her pride?

- Ambitious Crossdresser: Shock! One of your dear idols is actually a boy! Why would he do such a thing, but more importantly, he's one of the fan favorites! Will you outs him immediately, or will you allow him to continue his path to stardom? Find out the dark secrets he's been hiding.

- Lady fatale: Idols dating is a touchy subject as it is, but this girl doesn't even care! Jumping from one guy to the next, showing up late after partying all night, she leads a double life and if she wasn't so talented you'd probably have gotten rid of her long ago. Will you fix her before she breaks you?

- Protect her smile: Bullying is a dreadful thing, and at least when it's in house you can deal with it. But what can you do when your favorite idol is being cruely harrassed at school?

And maybe more to come!

Each of these girls (and boy) will have their own questline where you explore and resolve their problems. These are unlocked as you gain fans and your group expands. They will also interact with eachother, have special events exclusive to these characters and so on.

PROGRESS

Things are still in early stages and right now there are limitations within the beta that I have to work around. I'm focusing primarily on the writing and once the game is further along in development I'll slowly start rolling out the gameplay features. No promises as to when there might be a release!

Hope you guys like it! Please leave suggestions and ideas, I just might implement them :)

Ah, I see! That also explains why no matter how long I fast forwarded nothing happened lol.

Well, at least on the writing side of things, nothing's really stopping me. It's gonna take me a while to write all the events I have planned :P

I'm working on a post right now to show my progress!

Oh, that really explains it. Thanks! Does that also apply for dialogues?

Thank you! I really appreciate how you guys take feedback so earnestly. Open sourcing the editor down the road sounds great, I'd be glad to contribute myself :)

>Do you mean it should automatically trigger every X days? Or you want to trigger it again from within itself (I think it should work. If it doesn't then that's a bug that I need to fix)?

Well, that's the thing. It's not clear how events work, if they are repeatable (by being drawn randombly and such). I think being able to specify if they can repeat or if they are one time only would add a lot of flexibility. Right now, players are stuck with whatever character my story mode selects, but if we could use the events system instead, they could cancel it until a character they want is selected, or they could make the selection themselves like with promotions and photoshoots.

My initial assessment was a tad hyperbolic though. I'm making good progress on the mod right now thanks to some workarounds by manually adding variables into actors through the JSON. Biggest thing I'm missing is a NOT operator on actor variable checks :)

Hello again, sorry to bother with so many questions lol

Is it impossible to trigger a dialogue from an event? I'm running into an issue with the Trigger Event effect using a dialogue id where it gets stuck inside the event prompt and it never closes. I suspect some kind of exception?

I've spent some time with the modding tools, and for story writing purposes there's a few things that are needed:

1- Being able to start a dialogue from an event.

2- Adding variable effect in dialogue

3- Being able to specify if an event is repeatable.

4- More actor conditions: ensure an actor doesn't have a variable (!variable), friendship check, romance check, influence check, age check, boyfriend check, bullied check, bully check. The last bunch aren't that important but number one is critical to ensure a sequence of events.

5- Remove variables from actors. Right now you can only add.

It's so frustrating that the tool is so well put together for such a small indie title and yet it's just a couple of steps from being a full fledged vn tool. The dialogue system is so easy and intuitive!

EDIT

Okay, so for anyone else looking for alternatives, I've found some workarounds in the meantime!

Turns out you can assign variables on dialogues, it's just now an option given by the UI. Just assign the effect you want from the event or dialogue, copy it from the generated JSON and paste it on the other. It should work!

Thank you, JSON works fine for me! Thank you for adding the feature, it'll really help out a ton with scripting, is it possible to also add condition checks for influence and romance in the next update as well? It's fine if it's only doable in JSON at first, that's all I would need to get this project off the ground. :)

Hi there! I'm working on a story mod and I've got a question with the tool. Is "==" the only operator available for checking variables? Can I also use "!="?

Reason I ask is I want to keep track of random events that will happen multiple times until a certain choice is made and it has to be a meta variable and not an actor one. If that's not possible at this time, would it be possible for it to be added in the future?

EDIT= Also, what about the new relationship stats that were added in 9.0?

Sorry, I meant after recruiting. I know that it's just cosmetic but it'd make a big difference for me.

Goodness, I did not expect any of my feedback to be taken into consideration, let alone this much of it!

I saw the patch notes, that's a lot of progress for just one month! I really like most of what's been done, the new potential system is really neat as well. Will the idol rarity be visible after they are recruited along with the OVR value? If this is already in the game, please ignore !

I'll give it another playthrough and see how it turns out. This project has me incredibly excited!

PS. I'm also a developer, if you happen to be in need of assistance.

Or some kind of contract negotiation system like FIFA would be pretty neat :P

Perhaps once the competing groups are implemented, transfers and the like could play a role in the price.

I've done a run through most of the content and I gotta say I'm in love, but the management aspects of the game need balancing. Here's some issues I've noticed:

  • Advertising is far too lucrative compared to the other deals. Once unlocked there's little reason to do anything else.
  • Frequency and severity of setbacks should be raised a tad. I got to a point where I could just plow through scandals and carry on. Depending on the popularity of an idol, some stuff that happens in the game would be career ending irl.
  • There's really only one way to start the game, without managers you run out of money fast, and starting out with managers, the game is a cakewalk.
  • It's too easy to get silver/gold/platinum idols when recruiting, and platinum idols are so freaking good the training aspect of the game becomes basically useless.
  • Additionally, there's 0 insentive to take anyone below silver. Perhaps a potential system like FIFA's would work well? I'd be more willing to grab an inexperienced idol if I knew she had potential to be better than the others in the long run.
  • The profile menu needs to show some indication of which tier an idol is, and their current overall score. Currently I can't really see how my idols have progressed or regressed over time.
  • All idols should probably have at least one neutral/bad trait. I never had to deal with any of the negative ones during my playthrough. Perhaps a system where they all have a combination of good and bad traits?
  • Regional and national scouting seem to have no effect. If it does, it's not cost effective. Perhaps restrict the rare cards idols to those?
  • Daily tasks are essentially useless after the game gets going. I think this is a symptom of business deals being OP.
  • [Bug] Idols on hiatus still get reduced stamina from daily tasks and tv shows and stuff.
  • [Bug] Stylists do not respect the stamina threshold like dance and vocals coaches do.
  • In that same vein, training is currently very hard to manage. You either do everything by hand or it's kind of a clusterfuck.
  • Business deals should probably pause the game and prompt you. They can be easy to miss.
  • Likewise, when someone finishes working on a project the game should pause and show a notification.
  • [Bug] Idols sometimes look completely different after being recruited.
  • [Bug] Sometimes time stops passing.
  • Internet shows are just plain better than the others, no reason to do TV or Radio besides fulfilling a task.

I have a few more thoughts but I tried to keep it to just balance fixes and the like. If I had to suggest something more substantial, that would be shareholder goals and requirements. I feel the exponential growth of income would be better served by investors who want bigger and bigger gains as time passes. Think Activision disappointing with record profits lol.

And of course  a hard mode for the masochists.

I love what you guys are doing. Best of luck!
