The whole thing was that it wasnt just social media, that wasnt the point
the point of it was that if they are willing to ruin public trust and be gigantic authoritarian bullies over a simple disagreement in opinion (bigotry) then once they decide that something IS actually worth action over, its going to be far worse

the social media was just the LAST straw, it wasnt THE straw that broke the camel's back

it could have started with the social media posts and it wouldn't have gotten this far, so it implies its not social media itself

...its all a confluence of actions, however you want to say it... each action itself was not enough to warrant such a response, but they all TOGETHER made it *inevitable*

and your entire behavior about this situation seems as if you are part of it, and are trying to point fingers elsewhere... regardless of how or what you did to contribute, and how little or great that may be


the infighting caused as a result, and the removal of people who are valued contributors makes the project weaker and less capable in the end... so it DOES affect the game engine, which in turn, affects anyone who the game is made for... which basically means it affects anyone interested in that genre of game
it very very quickly gets out of hand unless you arbitrarily restrict the scope you are willing to consider as "relevant"

point 2 completely misses the entire point, but is the only relevant thing you could have said, because BOTH are free

point 3 is literally only relevant if you can completely separate the fact that the developers are the only ones who are interested in using the software, so the broken trust is exactly what is happening here, but you cant acknowledge that because your ego refuses to let you

literally every single instance of "a godot fork" exists because this has been happening and people are tired of it

hope always has, and always will, in this case, only apply if you are keeping your eyes closed to what is going on in front of you

the people who were attacked werent even doing anything remotely abhorrent, they were just attacked over a disagreement in opinion... dictionary definition bigotry, yet they call the victims the bigots instead

More or less, the way that these kinds of licenses work would be that you can only be punished if you are using it in a for-profit way... assuming the license doesnt already let you do that

the thing with this particular kind is that every subsequent fork REQUIRES the same terms, so godot is allowed to "steal" code from redot all the same as redot can "steal" by forking
