Hi Fuffy! Thanks for playing my game.

If you’re confused about what to do, all I can recommend is listening to the sound queues. Every enemy has one except for the big one that shows up on screen. But I don’t think that one should be a problem.

The idea for the game is that people experiment and figure out how to win by trial and error, but I think I might have to add some sort of tutorial or a help page in the main menu.

Didn't realise I could full screen it. Beat it first try. Actually had fun! 7/10

Incredible. Need I say more?

So, I REALLY like the concept.

I made sure to do my research: I watched the inspiration video and I read through comments (I was nearly dissuaded by the mention of using AI, but given this is a prototype rather than a full release, it's okay).

I was actually pretty interested by the QR code. I am a SUCKER for instantly opening my camera and letting any possible viruses flood my phone for just the chance to see something cool. And I wasn't disappointed.

However, it was when I started interacting with Domingo that things fell apart. After a few interactions, he would disappear. Knowing that grey background looked really familiar, I looked into the metadata, and sure enough, it's made in Godot. The scene deleted itself and didn't come back.

I tried a few things to get around that. I tried launching from the Itch.io app, and that didn't even start. So I got the HTML5 files and tried running it as a local server. That resulted in the same bug only faster. And so I tried a few more times on the browser version and it just kept leading to the same outcome.

Eloyy, I really want to see the rest of this game. It's actually a really cool idea and looks pretty fun. Is there any chance you could update the game to maybe patch these bugs, or even maybe share the project files to me privately so I could try just running it on Godot?

Thanks again and I sincerely hope you come back to this project.

Hey man, cool little game, but I would make sure you've set the viewport settings for the HTML file in the "Embed Options" section of "Edit Game" to fit your game resolution!

(1 edit)

Hey man, it doesn't look like the game is playable right now, you might want to check the project is set to HTML, not downloadable, and that the file is marked as "Playable in browser".

Hi guys, just a new developer here looking to team up with music/sounds geeks and those arty people that make the funny pictures that then do something because WE MAKE THEM DO IT (jk I love you artists).

Anyways, feel free to message here or on discord: eggworks

Hi guys, I know it's a pretty rough build but I'm just looking for feedback on my programming and game design, as well as any future feature ideas you have! Thanks for playing!

SPOILERS FOR THE GAME!!!

UPDATE 2

Glad to see that my critique was used! That includes the game files hiding some mysterious images, using Hexadecimal rather than Base64 and so on...

Furthermore, there are some new additions to those hidden files I see, particularly 14.jpg. Really adding to the lore of victim 14 (even if I still don't know what it all means)

However, as mentioned before, there is still no, slowly-building tension within the game. Subversion of expectations and an uncanny valley feeling is really where it should be at, whereas at the moment its a single level with not much substance. Although this may be difficult, adding a main menu can really open up a lot of options, taking DDLC as an example, where it can be changed and malformed into something much scarier.

Anyways, I'm glad you're still working on this project, and I can't wait to see more of Victim 14!

Oh some of them can be a genuine pain in the arse, I've tried game development myself, and it is difficult, and then you ask some of them and all they've ever done is play them. With the new context, I can tell you I wouldn't be able to make half that in 5 hours, so well done!

Just went to check out your page, and of course Sad Satan is at the top ;D It's like I can read people like books

SOME SPOILERS FOR THE GAME!!!

Okay, very Sad Satan vibes, which is neither a compliment or an insult.

I was actually creeped out by it for a while. I played the browser version first, and couldn't find an exit (which I don't know if it was my fault or not) so i quit and downloaded the .zip file.

For future reference, don't make .txt files easy to find. I combed through all of the game files and everything to find some secrets, and I was also a little disappointed the coded message was in Base64.

Anyways, as I said before, I was creeped out but then I was actually annoyed. I'm not sure if only using the arrows was a conscious decision or just a lack of experience in game development, but it gets old fast. There are actually plenty of people who have shared their first-person controller files, so it would be worth checking them out and keeping people in the experience you're building!

Okay, so I'm walking around and the use of the odd blinking and high-pitched noises was actually quite scary... The first few times. In fact, when I launched the .exe file, I was already used to it. That said, the random 'ping' that occurred caught me by surprise, and then the 'whoosh'? I actually had chills for a minute after, because it was so unexpected (and because my headphones were turned up).

And then the game ended on a jump-scare. I'm not sure if there is more to this game, I know I could have went right rather than left, but in the end it just closed and I felt a little disappointed.

Overall, it was a solid experience, with a little too much story outside of the game rather than in. The reason I compare it to Sad Satan is because the game tries to build mystique too hard through being edgy rather than actually mysterious. My advice would be to check out some of the older .exe experiences that have cropped up over the years, as well as taking a look at games like Doki Doki Literature Club and the more recent, KinitoPET. Both games build mystique through hiding it and revealing they're true nature slowly. As a player, you know they're supposed to be horror games and when nothing happens, that REALLY builds tension.

Anyways, I really hope to see more of this game or more of your work! You definitely just earnt a follow right now!
