Hi Makato123, I'm happy to say that as of version 1.7a all the AI generated placeholder art has been replaced with my own pixel art. I currently double as the developer and the artist (and I'm better at developing). It has taken me hundreds of hours to get caught up on the backlog of character portraits and dialog rigs for roughly 81 unique characters (not to mention the location portraits), but I've done it little by little over the past year and 7 releases.
Please understand that The Rift Between Us is still in its very early stages. It has been free to download up until this point, and has not accepted money or donations because of its experimental nature. So it was a bit of a catch 22 situation, unfortunately. Do I invest hundreds of hours (or hundreds of dollars) up front on artwork for a project I'm not sure is going to work out? I needed to get early feedback on the mechanics of the game, which is why I posted it on itch.io. The good news is that, AI aside, the feedback has been generally positive on the game concept, so I have the answer I needed.
Anyway, I appreciate your passion for demanding human created artwork. I would expect nothing less in a commercial product.

Hi Sam54544, sorry to hear you're having this issue.
The press-and-hold is only supposed to take about a second before it activates the action, but in your case it sounds like something is going wrong with the timing.
I'm not able to replicate the issue when I play the game myself, but looking at the code there are a couple of things I could change. I'll let you know when I have a new build posted that you can try.
In the meantime, could you share a few more details to help me narrow it down?
- Are you playing the Windows, Mac, or Android version?
- How long do you actually have to hold the button down to activate the action? Are we talking about a minute and a half? 15 minutes? Or literally half an hour?
- When you're holding the button down, do you see it filling up with blue steadily (but slowly), or is the amount of blue fill jumping around or not filling at all?
Thanks for your patience, hopefully we can get this solved for you soon!
Hi again Mchorn, I have potentially good news for you! Please check out this new post: https://draggor81.itch.io/innsurrection/devlog/921988/android-build-v14a
Thanks for letting me know, I've added a bug report here: https://itch.io/t/4589969/reported-bug-v13a-some-orocs-never-leave-after-ringing...
Sorry for the inconvenience, I'll have it fixed for the next release version. The only thing you're missing is the Day Summary screen and the End of Demo message. There's no other content beyond the end of day 2 in this version of the demo.
Reported in Survey:
"I had a couple of bugs. ... The second was getting thee First level up choice for EVERY interaction till I hit level 2."
I'm not able to reproduce this bug, but it sounds familiar. I may have already encountered this and fixed it at some point. If anyone still encounters this issue, please add any relevant details to this thread.
Reported in Survey:
"I also had a bug occur when the happiness of one of the Oroc ran out. It reset him asking for beer, but I could no longer serve him, and he remained seated and uninteractable until I was forced to save and reload. On reload, the Oroc slid towards the door without animation (still seated)."
I'm able to reproduce this bug. Investigating a fix.
Bug Description:
When clicking on an interactable object in the tavern, sometimes the interaction menu doesn't appear. Usually this happens with the interactable items behind the bar (Bell, Beer Keg, Water Cooler, Tea Kettle, Coffee Pot, Wash Station).
Workaround:
Try right clicking on a different interactable object, like a table or bar seat. Once the interaction menu appears again for one of these other objects, it should resume working everywhere.
Status:
Fixed in 1.1a.
