You're right. One of the challenges has been balancing the "thrown into the woods" feeling with making sure players actually understand what they're supposed to do. It's nice to hear that things clicked after a couple of matches, but I agree that the initial confusion could be better. I'm currently experimenting with some solutions during the opening moments of a run without going full hand holdy.

Also, the transition screen has gotten a surprising amount of love, so feel free to yoink  it if you like haha.  I can try sending you the code depending on what game engine you use.

Are there specific points where you were REALLY lost?

If you can't enter a match, make sure you select a character, the go to the van. Try following the button prompts.

Apparition Overhaul

The Apparition now pays much closer attention to player behavior. Actions such as improper kills, reckless movement, and other disruptive choices will increase its aggression throughout the match.

Weapon Caches

Weapons are no longer handed out freely. Hidden caches can now be discovered throughout the map, including hollow tree stumps and disturbed graves. Exploration is now the primary way to expand your arsenal beyond the starting pistol.

Rest Rooms

New pond-side rest areas have been added across the map, offering a brief respite from the hunt.

  • Purchase upgrades from picnic baskets
  • Recover health at campfires
  • Regroup before pushing deeper into the wilderness

HUD Overhaul

The interface has been completely redesigned to prioritize important information while reducing visual clutter. The result is a cleaner, more readable experience.

Storage System Improvements

Lockers and storage containers have been reworked and should now function reliably without the issues present in previous builds.

Enemy Progression & Balance

Enemy spawning has received a major balance pass.

  • Improved overall spawn pacing
  • Mutants are now easier to identify through skull particle effects
  • Reduced excessive mutant spawn chains

Secret Craftables

Quality of Life

  • Items can no longer drift outside of the playable map area
  • Various gameplay improvements and polish

Any plans for adding controller support? Or how to go about adding cycling through buttons with a gamepad? 

I've read through your code and have a few ideas, but was curious what you had planned.

Thank you! 

When generating a menu using your tutorial, where do I place the "Script_Activate". I can't in the room editor, since these buttons are generated in the Creation Code event.

I tried using temporary vars for each element and setting it manually using "_button.Script_Active = Script" to no luck.

Any suggustions?
