I love the concept! Very clever use of the scroll wheel.
Two points I'd like to make:
1. Lack of fullscreen support makes this game almost unplayable in browser, as the browser starts picking up on the scrollwheel input and moving the window around.

2. Animation frames for the chainsaw rotating would help it stand out.

Overall, great work though! If you fix those issues, I think this would be an excellent game!

Great game overall! You guys really did well - the game play fits the theme of the jam and this feels super polished for a game jam game.

Interesting game! I was struggling to figure out what I was exactly doing at first, so maybe a bit more context with how the UI/UX works would be useful, but apart from that very cool! Also I like the music.

Not gonna lie, this game had me cracking up playing it.

Interesting take on a tower defense, I was able to get the pull duck working but wasn't sure how to get the Slinky to work. Either way, good work on putting out a game for the jam! My main recommendation would be to try to include some instructions - if not in the game then at least on the itch.io page. :-)

I enjoyed this game! I loved the 2.5D elements in it, especially how you used yourselves as actors for your game - very fun idea! I didn't play through the whole thing yet, but this is something I'll pick up tomorrow to try to finish as it's late here.

The only thing I'm really confused about is how this is tied to the theme, unless I haven't gotten to that point yet (or you count the revolver cylinder spinning, which is neat twist on the theme.)

Hey craftglu! I did manage to fix the bugs earlier today. I detailed the fix on a response to a more recent comment, but unfortunately I won't be able to upload the fixed version until after the jam is over. All's well though, that gives me time to work on some audio for the game and figure out a bit more about PICO-8's sfx and music framework before I upload! =D

Excellent use of theme here and good, creative use of it! I enjoyed this, got 174 spins in before winning. Is there a spin limit or time limit, or can this theoretically go on indefinitely? :-)

Thanks for playing!

The updated game will have controls on the title screen.

Thanks for playing!

Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to add audio, so that's not a bug. As per the two bugs you found, I managed to fix them today, but (again) unfortunately I won't be able to upload the update until after the jam is over.

For those interested, the bug was an overflow error in PICO-8. PICO-8 uses signed 16:16 fixed point numbers, so the integer range is -32,768 to +32,767 and the collision algorithm was going above positive into a very large negative, giving false positives for collisions. A simple absolute value function seems to have fixed everything.

Thanks! Hopefully tomorrow I'll have an updated build with some more bugfixes.

Thanks for playing!

There's a few bugs I'm still trying to sort out, that being one of them.

Sorry about that! It was a bug with how I was calculating laser direction. I managed to fix that. Still trying to sort out why it sometimes registers a collision between an asteroid and the ship when there's nothing there.

That was a fun game. I tried balancing but ended up being a miserable saver in the end! 😆

Great work on this! The only thing I have to say is in the About it showed a missing picture at the top and the game errored at the end, but they weren't  game breaking bugs.

This game was very fun! It was a bit tricky and I couldn't get past some of the earlier stages, but I felt like that wasn't the game unfairly punishing me, rather my own lack of skill with the rotation mechanic.

Excellent work on this!

Thank you for playing my game and for the critique!

Yeah, the lag was due to a bad implementation of a game mechanic that I happened to find an alternative/better way of approaching after submissions ended. Once voting's done I'll go back to fix it, as well as add sounds. :-)

Thanks for playing!

I think I underestimated the difficulty in a few areas, but I'd say you made it about halfway through the game. :-)

Very neat, relaxing game. The instructions are a bit hard to read and blend in a lot with the background though. In fact I didn't even know there were instructions at the top until I adjusted my angle to my monitor, so you might want to put in a bit more contrast between the instructions and the background. Other than that, great work!

Great work on this and interesting concept! I played a bit, lost twice, and realized that I couldn't place a monument. Are you limited by how much you can place on the grid at a time?

Thanks for the critique and thank you for playing!

Thanks for playing!

I agree. I wanted to put in some sounds for footsteps as well as a bit more of a fleshed out level to help indicate movement but ran out of time.

Thanks for playing and thank you for the critique!

After voting is done I'll post an updated version that should run better in browser.

Thanks for playing my game!

Yeah. I found out after the fact there was a better way to incorporate that mechanic that wouldn't eat up a lot of computer power/memory, so after the jam I'm gonna post an updated version with a fix that should make it work better, as well as some sounds.

Great work on this! This was a fun game to play.

This looks like it would be super fun - reminded me of my youth watching Battle Bots, but immediately when I load in the level to play the enemy rushes me and I'm unable to move or spin my bot. One thing I think would have been a good addition would be a countdown timer when the match starts.

I like the concept, though I didn't last very long.  One thing that I thought was definitely neat was the usage of a timer for a score. I don't think I've seen that mechanic before. Great work on this!

Definitely a unique entry!

I was a bit confused about the gameplay at first, but after a bit it started to make sense.

Very cool.

I appreciate the fact that you like the visuals and I'm sorry to hear it crashed your browser.

Yeah, the I think I made the respawn timer a bit too long.

Regarding the lag, that's the fault of a game mechanic that I didn't have time to properly tweak (the procedurally deforming ropes).

At any rate, thank you for playing my game!

Thank you for playing! Maybe I overestimated the difficulty in some circumstances, my bad lol. Nevertheless, I'm glad you enjoy the tongue-in-cheek humor in it.

Thank you!
