Hey folks,

I'm developing a 4-player co-op horror game and currently looking for a volunteer 3D artist who loves retro horror to help create PS1-style character outfits. The vibe is inspired by classics like Silent Hill, Resident Evil (1996), and Hellnight — gritty, low-poly, and unsettling.

What I’m Looking For:

  • Low-poly character outfits (tops, bottoms, gloves, boots, etc.)

  • Style should emulate the limitations of PS1 hardware (blocky geometry, simple UVs)

  • No rigging required – just the mesh with clean UVs using an A pose matching the base character model provided.

  • A base character model will be provided for you to build outfits around

About the Project:

  • Third-person 4-player co-op horror

  • Set in an underwater depth based environments 

  • Gameplay systems, environments, and a working prototype are already in progress

  • Passion project — perfect for building a retro horror portfolio or getting experience in indie development

This is a volunteer role, but you’ll be fully credited and part of a growing game with strong retro-horror roots. Ideal for fans of PS1 visuals or those wanting to add stylized character modeling to their portfolio. Potential pay after game sales.

We’re GabaGoo Games, an indie studio with two shipped titles and a tight-knit team. We’re currently working on a 4-player co-op third-person horror shooter built in Unreal Engine 5.5 — heavily inspired by Dead Space, The Outlast Trials, and Resident Evil, but pushing into our own dark territory with procedural horror, dynamic gore, and stress-based survival mechanics.

🎮 About the Project

This is a gritty, system-driven co-op horror experience with an oppressive atmosphere and evolving biome-based threats. Key pillars include:

  • 🔪 Physics-based dismemberment systems with mesh slicing and Chaos physics

  • 🧠 Procedural animation blending for realistic movement and hit reactions

  • 🕹️ Dynamic First-person combat/stealth with stamina, overheating weapons, and AI-driven tension systems

  • 🧬 Flesh-based enemies and evolving AI behaviors that adapt to player stress, positioning, and resource management

  • 🚇 Mission-based gameplay loop with extraction mechanics and base upgrades

🧠 Who We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a Blueprint/C++ Gameplay Programmer to help implement and optimize core systems like:

  • Modular enemy dismemberment using Chaos & mesh slicing logic

  • Procedural animation systems (hit reactions, locomotion blending, ragdoll takeover)

  • Enemy AI behavior trees with adaptive horror elements

  • Stress and heartbeat systems that influence both gameplay and enemy responses

  • Inventory/crafting systems for mission-based survival

  • Replication (future-proofing for full multiplayer compatibility)

This role is perfect for someone who:

  • Loves solving strange, creative problems

  • Has experience with both Blueprint and C++ (replication needed)

  • Can test thoroughly and iterate fast

  • Wants to help define the feel of a horror shooter that actually plays differently

🔧 Tech Stack

  • Unreal Engine 5.5

  • Motion Matching / IK / Control Rig

  • Chaos Physics

  • Blueprint & C++ hybrid workflows

  • Modular asset pipeline with procedural hooks

💰 Compensation

This is a rev-share position with documented terms:

  • You’ll receive a fair percentage if the game surpasses $100,000 CAD in revenue

  • All shares are recorded and agreed to in writing

  • This is a passion-led project with a long-term vision and realistic scope
