Hello all. My name is Dalton. As the title may suggest, I am looking for something to do with all my time as programming is my hobby.
To start, I will tell you a bit about myself:

I am a programmer who likes to make things in C++ and C#. I tend to like making systems/engines personally, and really enjoy making things with procedural generation / emergent gameplay using openGL personally, although I'm very familiar with Unity from my last several years making BepInEx mods for many unity games.

I am a verified Developer on nexusMods (not that it means much haha) for making several mods adding console commands / the consoles themselves to games such as Hollow Knight, Wobbly Life, Muck, and a few others. This was a huge boon in learning the Unity APIs from the programmer's perspective, as since I am not an artist I have to do all of my altering/modding of a game in code. Creating materials, textMesh objects, the whole lot in script. After Unity's fiasco a few years ago, however, I was unsure of what the future may hold for Unity, so I dove into the deep end of the pool in openGL:

For the last year and a half since, I have studied openGL full time. I have learned instancing, setting up buffers of any kind, manipulating/tesselating meshes. As much as I could shove into my brain in that time, I did. I have several 'engines' that I have handrolled- each better than the last- that have taught me all about quaternions, matrices, all the stuff that makes the head hurt! I have quite the love for openGL, and continue practicing it every day. However, I tire of not actually _making_ anything. I make experiments, I make examples to display concepts, but all the theory in the world is not helpful if you do not practice. I need a larger scale game to sharpen myself on.

I don't have many examples under my profile on here, as a lot of them are old, but I have several recent projects from the last year that have never seen the light of day that I would be willing to display as verification of my programming. I have many small projects that I would LOVE to gab about to someone haha. I'm just not an ideas guy, I am an implementer. I can make whatever I am asked to, however there must be a map or general idea of the concept. You know?

I am looking for a group that either:
1) has an established idea that they are going for and a path towards that vision set out, sans developer

or

2) a few folks who would like to just make a game together and actually finish it.

now, this is a bit tricky on here, as everyone has a life and all and timelines shift, but I would like to find a group that will stick it through to the end. There are going to be days where we don't want to make a game, there are going to be days when people get down in the team, and that is okay. We are all human, after all. However, I need folks that will stay as true to the task as I will- Even through the bad days!

If you want to have cities, you've got to build roads 🎵
if anyone is interested in this, please contact me on my Discord: @Daltonyx

i do not get on itch very often, so I likely will not see any responses left here. In order to reach me, Discord is a must.

Hello! I am looking for another artist for my 3D engine to help cover the scope of this project!
This is a hobby project, and is unpaid. When we get it to a point of selling, I will happily revenue share and add you to the credits!
Now that we have that out of the way, let's get a description of the project here.

For the last few months, I have been writing a 3D engine to not be held to any silly licensing stuff with a certain large software company we all know and love. It is functional now, and in order to move any further we need hands on deck to make 3D models in Blender for an indie horror game!

The requirements are simple:

- every model must be exported as GLTF

- UVs are constructed through the UV editing section

- animations can be done through Shape Keys (but aren't necessary right now)

Does this sound fun to you? We would love to have you on the team to learn with us and grow this story! My Discord is Daltonyx#0000 (or just Daltonyx). I will have to accept a friend request before you can send me a message on Discord, due to privacy settings, but once you see I have added you back please don't hesitate to reach out! :) Thanks for reading this!

Extra Notes:
our team currently consists of 3 people! a programmer, a composer, and an artist who has freshly joined. We are seeking another person to join in and be the fourth member!
Here are some videos of the engine to show you what I'm talking about (and why I don't do good enough art myself haha)

Hello! my small team and I are looking for a 3D artist (or two!), that is proficient in any 3D modelling program of choice, provided it supports GLTF! (like Blender!)

We are wanting someone who can make piping, simple machines, and simple decorations for a game that does not have a conventional engine. It is my own 3D engine, not Unity or Unreal or Godot.  the aesthetic is low-poly, and textures are 512x512

If this sounds fun to you, or you want to join a project with some folks that is a little different than the norm, I'd love to hear from ya!
My discord is @Daltonyx #0000, Please send examples of your 3D work and I will be with you as soon as I see the message! Thanks for reading :)

Oh my goodness it's definitely incredibly useful. I actually write modloaders in it too haha. I made DDWobbly for Wobbly life out of it, and the same with DDLoader for havendock/hollow knight/muck. it's very versatile. Practice makes perfect!

Hello all, I have been working on Worldsim for a bit and have settled on the same thing I come to every game- I am not an artist. I am a programmer. Don't get me wrong, I can get by, but it's definitely nowhere near the stuff I see you all make every day on Itch! I am looking for a 2D artist to help me with Worldsim, as I desire the game to be better than it is. Or, alternatively, we could begin making a 2D game and building a custom engine to suit our needs.

Here is Worldsim:

it is currently just a world you can draw and paste tiles in to look pretty, but it can be so much more than that. I have the tiles and interface to spawn entities, I just cannot draw them. Believe me, I've attempted it haha. It's a custom engine I've written that draws tiles in a way similar to the old 'racing-the-beam' style of the past, resulting in great speeds at large maps and the ability to play on even a laptop! It is quite versatile too, I could make it a strategy system like Civilization, or an orthographic RPG like Don't Starve, it just takes the right art and direction!

If you're interested, my Discord is Daltonyx- shoot me a message! Thank you for your time!

I am a Unity and C++ developer with extensive experience in the Unity ecosystem making mods and a few games. I also make 2D games/programs in pure C++ so I'm flexible on the engine, or if there even is an engine of choice. Here are some examples of my recent programming works, and lack of art skills-

https://daltonyx.itch.io/worldsim
written entirely in SFML from scratch with no engine. a practice in loading user files on the fly, and an orthographic 2.5d camera system.

https://daltonyx.itch.io/dvoid

made in Unity. a practice in interfaces and making one UI read/write from any number of inventorys/anvils/chests and whatnot.

all my Unity game mods. I really like console commands. lol. these are a practice in knowing the ins and outs of Unity itself.

I will send you a friend request on Discord!

these are absolutely _lovely_. definitely saving these, and great job!
