Hiya! I don't have anything specifically to suggest on that topic, but I believe Shaun Spaulding has some good tutorials. I wish I could give some more advice and suggestions, but I am unfortunately drawing blanks. If something comes to mind, I'll reply to this post!

I really like the visuals for this, and the music is quite good as well. Something about the gravity and trajectory of the bombs did make it a little difficult to get the bombs to go where I wanted, but it was an passable challenge. I did really enjoy gaining some semblance of mastery, and trying to hold the bombs for just the right time makes for interesting decisions. I also think the procedural generation does a good job at varying up the experience run to run.

I think my main complaint would be with the bomb's blast. It expands and goes away slow enough that it gives you some leniency in timing your throws, but at the same time, it lingers long enough that even 2-3 seconds after the bomb explodes, you will still lose when running through that area. Also, if there are blocks above you and you prepare a bomb, the bomb shows up under the blocks. Several times I couldn't tell when/if I prepared my bomb, and couldn't time a throw properly, usually resulting in a game over.

Overall good, fun entry! I think just a couple of tweaks can make this even better. I've done several runs and imagine I may open this up later to try to get further in (I was only really able to get to about stage 4)

Thanks! Yeah, the one way walls and stuff were a trade off I had to make for the game being playable by the jam deadline - not intentional design. I'm currently working on updating the game (and plan to do so for a while), and I have pretty much sorted those problems out so you'll be able to make a more logical mental map of the layout. Depending on when I put the finishing touches on the update, you should expect to see that update sometime in the next 24 hours.

Okay, just some more praise for the game, I wrote the review, went back to what I had been doing and now the song is stuck in my head. Very catchy tune!

I love the music and the art! The character's animation is adorable. I also think the idea of having the physics randomized is a super creative use of the limitation and really makes the runs interesting. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but the levels switch between 'grass' and 'ice' depending on the amount of friction right? If so, wonderful touch that makes the randomized physics a little less annoying, such as to not make the player unexpectedly go careening off a cliff (which I did anyways :P)

Thank you! (Your game also has gorgeous art btw). I am planning to continue updating the game and expanding it's scope. I may be looking to release it on steam as well, but I haven't done that before, so there's definitely some stuff I'll have to figure out on that end.

Thank you! Unfortunately,  to export to other platforms, GameMaker: Studio requires I have the respective device. I think I may be able to get access to a mac and linux machine though, but probably not before the jam ends :(

This should be fixed by now, (it seems to work on my end), you'll just have to download the latest version. Unfortunately I uploaded and then went to bed and a simple mistake slipped through the cracks >.<

I really enjoyed this! I think the limitation worked quite well, considering every loop you use info from the last to take a slightly different path, and that gameplay is very interesting and fun. The hints and layout of the whole area is great as well, the game design work here is amazing.

Very cute art as well. I would have liked a walk animation and a few more assets (especially in the buildings and home screen) but this is a jam game, so its definitely understandable that that is lacking (and keep in mind, I want more animations because the existing stuff is so darn good!)

Aside from that collisions are a little wonky and made it a bit hard to push some objects as well as pick up the coin. 

In all, great little game! I undoubtedly enjoyed my time with it, even if I made the mistake of not talking to the librarian and running around aimless for a couple loops >.<
