I know how to make retro graphics in unreal, if you are interested I could show you. You could use blueprint in unreal too which doesnt look like line code.
the physics are a bit wonky, but the fact you made this from scratch mostly is super impressive. Great job!

I really like it so far! I love the checkpoints, and the atmosphere is amazing. Love your PS1 work. I hope we see a steam release =)
A few suggestions and bugs:-Character is very slow, and camera movement with the arrow keys is a bit strange imo.
Bugs:
Sprint doesn't seem to work.
The settings sliders don't work and save.
Some sounds overlap.
The knife deals damage without actually attacking.
