Congratulations!!

You have won Cheese Jam #3... By default...
Due to the lack of submissions and ratings (a.k.a no other submissions and no ratings) you have won the cheese jam #3. I know it feels kind of sucky to win by default like this, but with this it means that you get to pick the theme of the next cheese jam.

Email your ideas to me at cheesemaster_1@outlook.com

Thanks for your contribution!
- Cheese Master 1

There is no discord server, and thank you for reminding me, due to this delay i will change the ending time to finish a day later.

Again apologies for this, and thank you for reminding me

Hello everyone,

Just to let you know, V1 is currently incompatible with Cheese-realm (again) so please avoid using cheese-realm with V1, this will be patched in the next update (V1.5.5) which will be released with Space Voyagers - Cheese Edition

- Cheese Master 1

Remember everyone!

I am still taking entries into this challenge because none have come in yet, I am changing the sneak peek prize to you being able to help with the development of V3 and your ideas will be more likely to be added

Cut The Cheese community · Created a new topic V3 IDEAS
(1 edit)

This topic is for ideas for a V3 which so far is going to transition to a top down 2D adventure with all the proper visuals and everything.
Please note that this will likely not begin development until next year but for now I am taking ideas so please put them here, and due to the nature of this post please be serious about it, not every idea will be added and some may be changed slightly to fit. Also please note that it may take a fair bit of time and i may need some assistance in developing images an designs for each element of which i will ask for when i do need it.

But for now please just put your ideas forward here and we'll see where V3 ends up.

Thanks for asking, i almost forgot,

I am planning on having it start at the beginning of November, i will likely publish it for early joining in the next week.

Hello everyone,

Some of you may have seen my previous post about the pre-release for this game. Well, the full version of Cut The Cheese V2.0.0 is out now!
This new version includes a full UI redesign, and logic reworking, as well as being released with 3 new add-ons, one of them being part of a whole new game concept for Cut The Cheese known as realms. The tutorial still hasn't been completed yet but will be released in the next update, V2.1.0.

So give it a go, can you cut the cheese before it's too late?

Hello everyone,

I am posting here to announce a pre-release version of my game that will be coming out soon, known as Cut The Cheese V2.0.0.
This version includes a full rebuild of the UI and some possible additions to the game, as well as on the release day another 3 add-ons will be released as well.
It is a simple adventure game where you explore a one-bedroom home and collect items as you go, hoping to either find one of the endings by doing stuff, or by defeating all the active enemies.

Please note that it is a pre release demo and so there will likely be bugs and the tutorial and battle mode are currently not functional, the full version is going to be released on the 25th September. It is on the same page as V1 which is linked here: https://cheese-master-1.itch.io/cut-the-cheese

Thank you for submitting your game and congratulations on winning!

The prize for winning this jam has been decided so please contact me at cheesemaster_1@outlook.com to discuss it further

Cheese Jam #2 community · Created a new topic Results

Hello Everyone!

I hope Cheese Jam #2 was fun and i am glad that the results look the way they do with a total of 6 entries. Now before i reveal the results i need to clarify how the results are tallied, the overall points is the average points between all 3 voting points.
Now onto the results:

#1 - Cheese Chaser - 3.667
#2 - A mouse on the Moon - 3.333
#3 - Think of the Cheddar Holders - 3.000
#4 - FatRatGetsCheese - 2.750
#5 - The Magical Cheese of Glory - 2.533
#6 - A Cheesy Adventure - 1.833

I hope everyone enjoyed the game jam and i hope to see you all next time!

- Cheese Master 1

it doesn't have to be overly related, consider the example game. It is not really about cheese but there are pieces of cheese that you can collect and trigger an ending with.

So yes, you can make it so that cheese is only in that one scene.

Hello everyone!

If you have found any bugs, you can post them here,
When posting, it would be a great help if you included a copy of your game.log file so that i can easily track what went wrong and maybe how to fix it.

- Cheese Master 1

2 Days left everyone!

Don't forget to submit your add-ons before it's too late!
And remember the winner will get their add-on listed amongst the other official add-ons, a spot in the Hall of Cheese, and a sneak peek at some of the upcoming add-ons as well!

- Cheese Master 1

Hey guys!

Just checking in on everyone to see how their projects are going!
Have you got any little juicy mechanics you want to share?
Or are you happy just silently working away on your ideas for you add-ons?

Either way, that's absolutely fine, there is just over a week left to complete your add-ons, build them however you want, with any mechanics as long as it works with the main game (which may feel a little strict due to the nature of how the game is coded).

But as a friendly reminder, if your add-ons are built with the same core variable names, then your add-on should work with the newest version of Cut The Cheese which should be coming out after this jam! Cut The Cheese V2, will include a complete overhaul on the User Interface (UI) and maybe add some new mechanics or rooms, who knows...

So let's keep the hype up and make some exciting custom add-ons!

- Cheese Master 1

okay well i think the updated one should work better i hope, and there are some other bug fixes included. but it is not urgent, let me know if there are any other bugs i can help with :)

Thanks for that, no that is not meant to happen.
During development it worked, but I  had added a local function to a file that would dynamically update the files but it seems that it is causing issues, i will have a fix for that soon
-Cheese Master 1

Yeah thanks for that.

I have had some updates on my game, it is now at Version 1.5.0 for those who want to try! and a patch will be coming soon to a bug that i have no idea how that slipped past debugging. But don't feel pressured to, just putting it out there.

ah, i know there are a couple of python dependencies you need to install. Sorry, here they are:

pygame

nltk

deep-translator

httpx

Sorry about that.

ah yes. Sorry, I didn't make this jam a ranked jam, but if you wish to rate each other's games I believe there is a way to do that on the individual game pages

Great! thanks for your help!
there should be a patch out for that now and if it still doesn't work, just let me know and i'll fix it up as soon as possible

thanks for the report, but i have a question;
so this is a bug that runs on startup?
If so, could you still provide me with the game.log file and i should be able to work out what is happening.

Please submit your questions about the code here.

No not at the moment sorry, but if you wish to create one for this event and other events in this series, i will be happy to use it in future game jams. However, I personally haven't used discord much and so am not sure how to really navigate or use discord.

Hello everyone!
The patch mentioned above has now been fixed, as well as the tutorial mode from the main menu

- Cheese Master 1

Add-ons available:

https://cheese-master-1.itch.io/cut-the-cheese-bear-extension
https://cheese-master-1.itch.io/cut-the-cheese-dave-the-magical-cheese-wizard
https://cheese-master-1.itch.io/cut-the-cheese-space-voyagers

These add-ons are not fully bug-proof so commenting the bugs found in these add-ons on their respective pages would be excellent

Thank you for being so devoted to cutting the cheese!

yes you can reuse certain scripts from other projects, as long as the new project is not  made almost entirely from old scripts, as it is essentially an old project when you do that.

in short: yes, but not for the whole project

something i want to clear up, you are allowed to work on your games as you approach the start date, that means you have from now until the end of the jam to develop your games, i wasn't sure how to word it so i am clearing that up here.

In short, you are already allowed to work on your submissions to the game jam

hi there,

Yes the use of AI is permitted, the rules are listed on the main page and anyway, this is meant to be chill, no stress if you use AI or not. so don't worry about it. but you are not allowed to make the game entirely using AI as it is essentially the AI's project not yours.

Short answer: yes, but not to make your whole game

Hey guys!

just here to remind you that this game Jam's theme is cheese, it only has to be loosely related, as long as we can see how it is related to cheese, and don't forget to keep it fun!

if you have any questions about the theme post them here!

thanks for reporting that bug, it is still under the debugging process in a way. But entering the vehicle is meant to trigger an ending, so I'll take a look.

UPDATE: you have won the game, it is just that the game credits had attempted print to the terminal but because of translation compatibility, it crashed due to a missing parameter. A patch will come out with the next update which should make it easy to undergo future updates

If you are wondering, I have just released an update of the game with that bug fixed if you want to take another look.

I fixed your bug, made the music fade in and out rather than stopping, and there is multi-lingual support

Don't feel pressured to play, i am just letting you know i've made a patch

Thank you for playing my game! I'll definitely take a look at that bug as soon as possible. however I just have a few notes:

1. yes it is a bit like ZORK, that was the original inspiration for the game

2. the reason my main options are listed with numbers is because I myself began playing ZORK and found it very difficult to play without knowing a whole lot about what i could do

Overall thanks for your feedback! A fix for that bug will likely come out with the next update, however as i mentioned on the games page, you may need to wipe the save files in the first few updates, that will be fixed in the near future

Hello everyone, I have just released my text-based game called cut the cheese,
Just some info about it:
- Text-Based adventure game
- Runs in the windows terminal (unsure if it functions on other OS)
- simple little adventure game where you explore a small home and forest
- Multiple endings to the game meaning you can find your own way through it

However there may be some bugs as i am relatively new to these kind of things and it is my first release so I may have not made the game fully bug proof, if you encounter a bug please report it in the comments section on the download page and i will have a look at it as soon as possible.

Also, there will be Add-ons released at some point in the future which include one or more of new rooms, items, enemies, and maybe some other mechanics as well

(by the way this image AI generated cover art)
