I was not planning on adding gigantamax forms. I don't know if I have those in my source files or sprites for them. I was hoping to be able to add the new megas from Legends Z-A when they exist.

Shiny pokemon are available in-game. The 27th of every month doubles the odds of finding them.

2 depends on 1. You get coins by walking.

1 is a surprise. If your device has GPS, and you granted permissions to the app to use location, it should move when you do. You also need to have the screen on while walking, because Android doesn't let most apps get location info and run in the background.

When you have network connectivity, tap the Options button, and click "Download Cell4 Data". Wait for that to complete. You can restart the game or start walking again and it should draw tiles.

The missing sprites are a filesystem thing I can fix. I had before, but a new dev PC caused that bug again. The forces-of-nature might be misflagged in my data set, I'll update them to toggle forms instead of mega-evolve in the next update.

Thanks! It's always great to find out people are enjoying it.

I'll look into that.

Pokedex is in the works. It'll include a scanner to help you find where to go to catch pokemon.

Oh, Blastoise has its own version of Water Gun. I identify fast moves by having their key end in _FAST and that one doesnt, so it's registered as a charge move.  I'll have to go dig into that and see how often this sort of issue can happen.

Oh, I see. I have an idea why. I'll dig into that soon.

Release 5 is out now, fixes the spawn info bug.

It also allows you to hide your location code in the options menu, in case you don't want to reveal your exact location in a youtube video.

That's a data issue in this week's even spawns. Easy to fix, doesn't affect actual spawns.

You can record a video if you want. Maybe wait for the next update that fixes the spawn info window.

You can tap the "Order Caught" button to switch between name/order/power sorting.

There's an issue I need to track down with power sorting as well. I'll probably make order caught newest-first instead of oldest-first.

Try restarting the game, or walking about 500 feet in one direction into the next maptile. Those should be enough to force it to redraw.

While I'm done with developing this particular experiment, I would still like feedback from anyone that's played the newest version. It's useful because I'll still be putting together stuff from the same base components, and feedback can make future games better.

Primarily, I'm interested in feedback on the detailed maps and their use:

 * Are they sufficiently useful?
 *  Do they make walking around your area better than just the CellTracker the game had before?
etc.

Thanks for checking it out! This is great feedback, all of this is clear and helpful. You'll probably see some kind of compass in the next release.

"One last nit pick is that the game doesn't run in the background so you can't turn off the screen or switch apps while you explore to the points of interest."

This is probably not a particularly easy thing to change. I do want to see if I can make this happen eventually, but I am aware that this isn't a thing Android likes to encourage and Godot doesn't have an out-of-the-box answer for doing this.

Leave any general feedback and opinions on Prototype B here.  Stuff I specifically am interested in includes:

  • Is it viable to have a location-based game that doesn't rely on showing you a nearby map constantly?
  • Is this minimized-data format good enough?
    • EX: can you figure out where you are and what's around you with just colored circles and a type key on the area map?
    • Do you need the app to be able to navigate you directly to distant places, or are you fine with using Google Maps or whatnot to drive there and then firing the game back up?
  • How far were you willing to travel for this game?
    • The game should work anywhere on the planet, but I know most people aren't going to change continents to check that out. Were the "far" place tasks too far away, or too close?
  • Does the game point out good places to go?
    • If not, which ones aren't good?
    • What good places should this app prefer, if any?
    • The source data used is approaching a year old, is this too out-of-date for where you played?
