Sorry about that, I'm using Unity 2020 and when I look up the problem it seems to happen around that time. So you've reminded me I need to upgrade!

Thanks so much!

Whoops, that's a debug thing I forgot to take out! Sorry for the confusion. Glad you liked the game otherwise :D

One might initially deem this work to be lacking depth and overall "cobbled together". However I personally believe that to be a reductive, and ultimately false, assertion. You see, the theme of overcoming one's personal inhibitions are evident from the very beginning; a forth-wall-breaking introduction places us, jarringly yet effectively, within the expirience. Nevertheless, the valiant protagonist continues and is met with multiple (2) obstacles upon their chronicled journey of entering the mantion.

Our first obstacle is once again framed within the meta-narrative of videogames as a storytelling medium: "Huh. I guess it's just not... openable?" Whilst getting a hearty chuckle out of me during my first playthrough, I must admit that this line has taken on a second life of sorts upon further completions. The baseless restrictions of lesser videogames are called upon for both comedic and dramatic effect, in equal proportion.

Upon overcoming the great gate, we are met with the eponymous sign of "That Sign That Keeps Growing". Rather fittingly, the protagonist's internal monologue reflects this "did that sign just... GET A LIFE???". While we may shallowly believe this to be a pun (as is later explicated), we might also consider this in tandem with our primary theme of resilience. The ending of the game sees one searching for an axe and thus using it to vanquish the foe with haste, and I cannot think of a more excellent manifestation of overcoming one's fears than literally wrecking shit with an axe. Ludo-narrative dissonance blah bnlah

Overall, while perhaps to you seeming one-note, one-upped, and one-brain-celled, you are actually stupid. For me on the other hand, it's a *****SAFE*****  (get it) 10 out of 10.

Aaaah its so frantic and fun I love it!

This game is really beautiful! I love the lil guy chasing my cursor around, it really adds more character than just "the mouse cursor does the painting".

unfortunately it was a bit stuttery which led to it skipping over some places where my mouse had been during the time between frames, but apart from that a very nice game with pretty visuals which follows the theme very nicely.

This is a really responsive game with a very unique mechanic that follows the theme closely, which is really cool. The lack of checkpoints is a real shame though since it meant I didn't want to finish it after dying very far in 3 times!

Amazing in all aspects! I had lots of fun eventually filling it all with bamboo >:-)

There's only one route i'm afraid! the rest should be blocked off by the red particles. Glad you liked it!

this is intentional right

seriously though very fun game! it had me addicted.

A fun game! I got to 300 before calling it quits. I would love a bit more gameplay depth but only because it was such a solid foundation that i want more!

Cubes :D

Both are common options, so whichever works best for your first jam!

Thanks so much for choosing my game! You can contact me via Discord, my username is ceaseless0802, ID is 1063485556501270568

wonderfully unique game! big "dont hug me im scared" vibes i love it

Beautiful, cohesive visuals with a great gameplay loop! I'm sure your dream game is in safe hands!

Very fun! It fits the theme quite well and the rummaging around for the first key felt quite rewarding. Well done!

This was probably the most fun gameplay-wise that i've seen in this jam. I definitely respect the laser-focus on a fun experience. Of course the sound is gone and the art is a bit lacking (but shout-out to the enemy death animation haha), but I completely understand the trade-off.

This is a really beautiful game, and it has so many interactable things that make it very impressive. Welldone!

I'm quite proud of this one hehe, thanks for playing!

Thanks so much for replying! I'll definitely give it a try

Thanks so much! I'm really happy I was able to find a unique idea in time haha

This is really cool and addicting, the visual design and interactive audio makes this feel really responsive and fun! Of course more variety would be nice but for a game made in 2 days this features some phenomenal gameplay.

I got 1250! That was really fun, with a push and pull that I haven't really seen anywhere else? It was wonderfully stressful near the end, with great visual, audio, and game design.

well this is gonna win isn't it XD. great job! its really satisfying and brilliantly scoped

A harrowing commentary on the nature of violence in video games; exploring the anonymity given by the screen and its effects on the humble gamer. also ur quite funny :)

not much gameplay, but that pixel art is so so beautiful!! for a first game, you did really well

Wow. I love walking simulators so much and i've never played one in a sci-fi setting. The use of lighting to set the mood amazingly and also to guide the player at the start, the help menu which completely fits into the lore but also doesn't completely spoil the locations, the emotional writing which genuinely kinda made me tear up a bit at the end. ITS SO GOOD OMG. idk how you made this in two days but thank you so much and well done!!

you know what, it has some flaws, but i cant deny that it definitely made me very happy. Good job!

This is so cool!!!! Color is such a flexible idea to base the game's design around - i love the idea of combining colors to progress. I honestly just wish there were more levels to play (and that the teleport was more predictable), but considering you got sick while making this i think you did amazing!

Thanks so much!

i can't seem to pick up any fruit in either the windows or web versions? im not gonna rate it, but just wanted to say the art style is really cool and would love to know if this is a me-problem!

this is why i play indie games

this was really cool!! the player controller feels really snappy and i had a lot of fun combining the different elements to make fun challenges. great job!

Some beautiful and fluid animation mixed with v i b e s

Nice work!

Yeah, that would definitely be the first thing I would add and keyboard controls make much more sense.

Glad you liked it!

This turned out to be a surprise favourite of mine! Its very addictive and seeing the enemies go down quicker and quicker was lots of fun. The enemy spawning really discourages the movement which is a bit of a shame, and the enemies don't spawn on the left, but it does keep the focus on shooting the enemies quick enough.

As I upgraded more (with about 12 cannons in total), I found a bit of a performance issue, it seems like its tied to the amount of bullets I'm spawning. My best guess is that you aren't deleting the bullets fast enough / at all? But its so far into the game that it isn't really an issue and hence why you shouldn't care :D

The music is, of course, a perfect fit.

Overall, an addictive game that I could play even more with a few tweaks and additions.

Well done!

No problem, cant wait to play your game!

Yeah I totally get that, I only really got the idea for the game on the second day after an idea that completely flopped, so it was a bit of a rush to put together, I think if I were to carry on with this game, that would be the first thing I would do.

Thanks for playing!

What a great game! The length is more than made up for by so many amazing fine details! I can't stop playing around with the character controller. Even the subtle things like squash and stretch make the player feel so much more alive.

The options menu is a nice touch and, while the game forgoes including more features, seeing how both sides play into each other during gameplay is just as much of a thrill as a more expanded feature set would create.

The sound design is also gorgeous. It plays well into the aesthetic of the game and really feels at home!

I would love to see this turned into a full release with more strategy elements as to which side to pick e.g. what the players current skillset looks like and what might be easier to handle.
