This module made me giggle a lot! I love all the characters, they're all such a vibe. Idk if this is an unpopular opinion, but more modules should include adventure "timetable" if only as a benchmark (not even a suggestion). I'd love to see more information (maybe tables?) about the case as well as stuff that may come up in the prosecution and defense, as well as a little bit more clarity on some parts (such as when "all hell breaks loose"). But this is less of a criticism and more of me being hopeful that you will update the module or even publish an expanded version hehe. Great work!

The text above the title says you can communicate with the dead by calling upon the Bright Blizzard so I went inside the Forest expecting to do just that (for fun!) and now I have a hulking nuclear abomination hot on my ass and there are cats eating me alive as I try to run from it. Not making it out alive fam 10/10 though
YOOO thanks SO MUCH for such a thorough feedback!!! really appreciate you being out here doing the lord's work ❤️🙏
- You're completely right about the sneaky difficulty in GM-ing this; it's present even for the players, too. For this version, some familiarity to postapocalyptic or dystopian fiction such as Mad Max or Fallout will help (or if we're talking Appendix N then my choice would be my touchstones - Margaret St. Clair's and Lin Carter's works), but I'm already planning to add something to address this exact problem in uhhh dare I say an expanded version? 😬💦
- You're also completely right about some bland lines in there. I wouldn't change it to something that alludes to the Floor having a certain "function" but it definitely could use another round of revision which, to be honest, I might have had the time for, but definitely not the energy lmaooooo
- re: "Taste Blood in the Water" - I probably wouldn't be able to come up with a phrase that describes 'pinpointing something abstract (like a feeling, information, or memory) inside another abstract thing (like the mind)' better. Sensing fear inside a swirl of emotions, like locating a type of liquid (blood) inside another type of liquid (water). Also I guess when it popped into my head the mental image was just too cool to ignore. Actually, yeah, maybe that's the reason. lol
Again, thanks for taking the time to leave such thoughtful review!
Firstly, I love the setting and the prose is so well-written and picturesque, I can almost hear the rain and smell the thick mud. Secondly, I've said this before in another review but I really love modules that doesn't read like just a list of locations and events. This has delicious seeds of drama built into the setup, and playing it with different group almost guarantees wildly different results. I haven't seen too many modules with progressive resource management elements in them, too - I said "oh shit" multiple times while reading through this. Thirdly, of course, that cover is amazing, definitely one of my favorites this jam, especially considering you painted it yourself. And lastly - I wonder if this story is a parable about something, considering the characters involved?
If I'm allowed one criticism, I think I would put the "Reading the Game" paragraph right after the opening section, just before the box about storm exposure. But all in all, such a cool first module - can't wait to see what you'll be making next!
Uh, so, aside from what Har has said below (lol)...
Definitely one of my favorites in the jam! The mental images that this module conjured up in my mind are SO vivid. Not only the world, but also the combat mechanics and the naming of everything. Punchy writing that leaves you no room to process the coolness that just backhanded you in the face. The art is just *chef's kiss* and the layout are SO polished. One of those modules that looked like it spent way more than 1 month to develop. My only gripe is the interior texts aren't searchable. I have a goldfish's attention span (severe ADHD) so I rely on search to make connections between sections and remind me of the stuff I read 2 mins ago. But in any case, I fw this so harddddd!!!
Loving how tastefully simple the visual design is. Everything is calculated and not a single element is wasted. A masterclass in restraint. That tent with all the suits above it is so cute and charming. The content of the other side peeking through is the cherry on top showing you really know what you're doing. The adventure itself is, again, deceptively simple. It's short but written really well, and it's full of personality so even if it's a twist of something familiar it still feels fresh.
I can't really articulate it well, but I guess I can't really imagine who my PC would be in this setting and what their motivation would be. The setting itself is so thematic, atmospheric, and thought evoking, but at the same time a bit abstract and surrealistic that I couldn't figure out my place (as a PC) in its world. Maybe a more specific adventure hook could help here, but if you feel that it would limit the imagination, that's valid, too!
Holy shit, I... don't think anything's going to ever top this in this jam for me. Everything from the start of the premise to the end was so effective and by the end of the Cosmic Road section I'd forgotten that it still had one more page and it felt like I forgot it was my birthday and I only remembered because someone surprised me with a Switch 2. I've never wanted to drive so bad in my life. Got many more things I want to say about this module but at this point I'm just rambling. Congratulations on such a delightful masterpiece. 6/5 across the board. Excuse me gtg proselytize to my friends about this.
Always love it when a module doesn't read like just a collage of places and a list of what's inside. Gives you a real sense of call to adventure, which I reckon is what every module should aspire to do. The rooms with different themes inside make it suitably epic as a final dungeon of some sort. Very nice work.
I'm having the Big Feelings now after reading this. It's like Silent Hill, and we're playing as the town's phantoms, and we're not malicious, just really, really sad. I may be wrong, but this reads less as a system agnostic module and more of a setting. Regardless, I would love to do something with/in this place!
Oh my god the cover and the art!!! i'm on my knees!!! underrated entry. The NPCs are so cool and intriguing, too! The map is pretty light on information and I wish you'd go for a map of the setting itself instead (like where an NPC's village is, the lair of the monsters, etc.) because I would love to know more about this world, but it is a gorgeous map regardless. Rooting for you to expand this!
