You know, this is a really good idea and I wish I could have had it in there, too.
I feel really strongly about how much music can influence how you feel when interacting with any media, and I wanted to write the music to follow the flow of the game. I adjusted the spawn rate of the ads based on what was going on in the song. If the level continued past 3 minutes, even potentially endlessly, I don't know if I could have written music well enough to account for that, ya know?

Yeah, I agree with ya. With more time I wanted to balance it more to make it more difficult to avoid this.
You get less points for destroying an ad the longer it is on screen, so not moving the turrets (in theory) should ultimately give you a lower score. So I guess as it is, the game is more about achieving a high score than avoiding loosing?
