Hey Steven, I want to reach out and ask if you'd be open to joining a First person movement looter shooter created in unreal engine 5. We currently have a team of about 15 people and are looking for more talent in the 3D modeling and animation fields and we would love to have you as a part of our game. You can reach out to me on discord @CrippledManiac if you want to learn more.

Hey Jake, this project might be slightly out of the ordinary for you since you said you prefer 2D but if you are open to it, I am working on a movement looter shooter game in unreal engine 5 with a team of 12-14 people and we could use your sfx talent. If you'd like to hear more you can message me on discord @CrippledManiac or I can also shoot you a dm there too.
Hey Hezkov, I posted yesterday about needing some 3D artists for my first person shooter game that I'm working on. We're a decently sized team of 12-14 people but we are low on talent in the 3D field. It is revshare but we do have a very early playable build I can show off, you can message me on discord @CrippledManiac.
Hey William, I saw your post and your hard-surface work seems like it could be a great fit for a UE5 movement-focused FPS looter shooter I’m working on, currently in early prototype with a small team and aiming for a rough pre-alpha build soon. We’re especially looking for help with weapon, prop, and environment modeling/texturing, so I’d love to send you more info and see if you’d be interested in joining or helping out. If you'd prefer, my discord is @CrippledManiac
Hey everyone,
I’m an indie/student game developer currently working on an early prototype for a first-person movement-focused looter shooter built in Unreal Engine 5.
The project is inspired by the FPS looter-shooter space that games like Destiny helped define, along with movement-focused shooters like Titanfall and Apex, but the goal is not to clone any one game. I’m trying to build a fast combat sandbox centered around projectile-based weapons, movement abilities, loot/buildcrafting, enemy factions, and a near-future sci-fi/occult fantasy setting.
The project is already underway. I’ve been handling most of the early design, programming, systems planning, and gameplay prototyping myself, and the team has recently grown to around 12 contributors, including composers, SFX artists, programmers, 3D modelers, and a writer. We currently have a dev build in progress, and the short-term goal is to put together a rough pre-alpha / early access build by early August as a small playable vertical slice.
The immediate goal is practical: build a small but polished FPS sandbox that lets players test the movement, gunplay, abilities, enemy encounters, and general feel of the game. Long-term, the project is more ambitious, but right now I’m focused on keeping the scope grounded and getting a playable build into people’s hands.
Right now, the biggest bottleneck is visual content. We’re especially looking for people interested in:
- 3D weapon / prop modeling
- 3D character or enemy modeling
- First-person weapon animation
- Enemy animation
- General gameplay animation
- Environment art
- VFX
The most immediate needs are weapons, enemy models, basic props, and animations that help sell the combat feel. I’m not expecting AAA-quality assets or a massive art pipeline right away. I’m mainly looking for people who want to help shape the visual identity of an early prototype and build portfolio-worthy work in the process.
Compensation-wise, this is currently a bootstrapped indie/student project. I want to be transparent that this is mainly a portfolio / hobby collaboration right now. Proper credit will be given, and I’m open to discussing rev-share if the project reaches a release or commercial stage. For certain specific assets or short-term tasks, limited paid work may also be possible depending on scope and budget, but I don’t want to oversell that as the main arrangement.
What I can bring:
- Unreal Engine 5 project already underway
- Playable dev build in progress
- Core gameplay direction and design docs
- Early movement, weapon, and prototype systems
- A growing team of contributors
- Clear short-term goal: rough pre-alpha / early access build by early August
- Proper credit for contributors
- Footage/screenshots available on request
I’m not looking for people to join a vague “million dollar idea.” The project is definitely ambitious long-term, but the immediate goal is simple and realistic: build a small playable FPS sandbox, test the movement/gunplay/buildcrafting loop, and see where the project can go from there.
Beginners are welcome, as long as you’re honest about your experience level and interested in learning/building something. This could be a good fit for students, hobbyists, or early-career artists and animators looking to gain experience on a real UE5 project.
If you’re interested, feel free to reply here or DM me with:
- What kind of work you do
- Your experience level
- Portfolio/examples, if you have them
- What kind of contribution you’d be interested in making
I’d be happy to send footage/screenshots of the current build and talk more about the project direction.
