Congrats on finishing another game! The sprites are excellent and go well with the tileset, the player movement and combat feels really slick and satisfying. Enjoyed reading the devlog too, I really need the healing haha. I think with that and the combat tweaks it would have a great base to build further if you want.

I'd like to use a controller with this kind of game, I know it's not exactly a priority for a gamejam but maybe that's something you can consider next time? Actually the movement seems to work already, just can't attack :)

Thanks, I'll post it on the BBS soon :)

Thanks for the kind words! Glad you enjoyed it :)

Yeah you're right about the dashing. It was something I added for speedrunning but it ends up causing more problems than it solves! Thanks for the feedback.

Yay another pico-8 game! Really like the graphics especially the snow effect. Very impressive considering you finished it in 5 days. Appreciate the detailed dev log too.

One suggestion I'd have is to make more of a distinction between the good and bad things to help the player... for example I think the bad rocks are grey but the good platforms you jump on are also grey. I know it's difficult with the limited palette though!

Thanks for the game.

Really fun gameplay! However, I thought I had everything running nicely and then the game over screen popped up :D I think the tutorial was a little long (and I think it doesn't mention rotating tiles, which I was looking for). Other than that, great job and thanks for the game!

This is a nice concept and the graphics are excellent. If you continue working on this game, please add more difficult levels and fix the softlock that another player mentioned. But for a gamejam entry it demonstrates the theme nicely!

I love this game, it's the most original idea I've seen so far and the graphics are brilliant. Would love to see more of this!
Oh, one small suggestion: when you spawn a unit there's a cooldown, right? Could you add a cooldown indicator to make this more obvious?

Ahh, I love swinging from hooks! Graphics are really nice, awesome job with the palette and theme.

Nice little game, simple mechanic executed very well! The level design is excellent, that must have taken a long time. Probably my favourite game of the jam so far. I made a similar platform game for the jam if you want to check it out!

Any game with a shopkeeper gets my vote! Seeing things grow is very satisfying!

Minor issue not related to the gameplay: the html version seems to take a long time to start after clicking 'start', but once it loads it works fine.

Thanks for the game!

Really fun to play, loved the fast pace and the little hints on the wall if you get stuck!

I liked the graphics (nice palette!) and it definitely fits the theme. Small things though, it would be nice to have some more interaction with the NPCs and maybe a little arrow indicating where to return to. Congrats on finishing your game!

PS. The text in the HTML version looks blurry in windowed mode. It looks ok in fullscreen mode. I think you might be able to fix this by adjusting the resolution from the 'edit game' page - maybe give that a try?

Really great concept and graphics! I'd definitely play a card game like this. As another player mentioned though, I found myself stuck in a loop without any way to play cards. If there was just a way to "skip+discard" or another way to exchange your cards, this little game would be pretty flawless imo. Really nice work, thanks for the game!

Thanks for playing the game and making it that far! 2-3 is beatable but you need to reuse the cannon by picking it up again after firing. There’s a bit more to it but I’ll leave that to you :)

The art is cool, really interesting concept! Would like to see it developed further :)

Theme is definitely on point, it's satisfying when you get everything balanced!

3:10. Thanks for the game! I loved the swinging mechanic. The controls got a bit of getting used to (I ended up using the mouse button) but once I got the hang of it it was fun! Nice music too.

I finished it! Really nice soundtrack, liked the glow of the crystals on the platforms. The house art at the ending was my favourite piece and a nice reward for finishing.

If I would suggest one thing, I think the art of the tiles and the player are both great but don't quite fit together (the tiles are higher resolution?), so it would be nicer if they were consistent. Great work though, thanks for the game!

Thanks for the kind words! Yeah, the character control got a bit tricky after I added friction for the ice levels but I couldn’t find a fix for it, so I sacrificed some control so I could keep the ice levels. Appreciate the feedback, will check out your game too!

Thanks for trying the game. I agree the 3rd level is quite hard - it’s easier if you dash towards the yellow NPC. There’s also an option in the pause menu to unlock all the levels if you’d like to skip any of them. Appreciate the feedback!
