There will be one last update once someone has finished writing their employee clients and get art, but our main focus has moved on to The Restoration of Aphrodisia for a long while now.

That'd would unfortunately involve remaking the entire UI which isn't feasible for us at this time.

I can't direct message people on Itch.io so I'm mainly handing them out on our Discord server.

Sure, I'll reach out to you there.

Eventually, yes. In fact that's how we're letting people play it early via Steam beta keys. The store page will hopefully go live in the next month or two.

(1 edit)

I don't know that this game will be worked on again. It was a product of its time and a good Unity learning experience, but probably not a game I'd make now.

Doesn't matter particularly, just reach out to me there and I'll send one over.

Come to think of it, is it actually possible to direct message someone on Itch? I don't think I've ever done that before.

Shortly before the issue. It's probably just that one of the events needs a tighter up-front requirement to block it from spawning altogether.

Windows tends to not care too much about the direction of the slashes. Linux is a lot more picky, and about capitalization too.

I see two issues with your logs files. On is a file not found problem for the file he Exile of Aphrodisia (2023)_Data/StreamingAssets\EncounterText/ominousRumblingsInTheHighPass/ominousRumblingsInTheHighPass_choose_scout.txt which seems very strange why that one particular file is not present. Re-downloading the game may help with that (save game files shouldn't be affected).

As for the others, it looks like your party was spawning Instincts Kick In events that should have been disabled due to your party's particular composition. Can you also send any save game files from shortly before that issue began, if you still have them?

The favored way is via our Discord server, but you could send them as files to our relay email 3j2vkp2im@mozmail.com .

I'm handing out beta keys for Steam. Would you like one? Uploading on Itch is a bit of a slower process and there's still various major bugs we need to fix first before we want the game out for a much wider audience.

That's odd, maybe have something to do with the game trying to skip repeated encounters if it only happens on repeat plays. Can you upload your  player.log and player-prev.log files? Typically they're found in a location like:

C:\Users\[PC Username]\AppData\LocalLow\Blue Fairy Media LLC\The Exile of Aphrodisia (2023)

No problem! That art has been done a while but we are still working on the quest to integrate it into the game itself, so you can't attain that form without the use of the debug console just yet.

Eventually the game will include transformations like this: https://imgur.com/9NlusWs

No, that will not be possible for this game.

Can't say I'm familiar with that game. With any luck we'll have an early alpha build up here within the next few days.

Thanks!

Thanks! It's taking a little longer than expected but we're still aiming to have it uploaded this month.

That was one of the largest complaints of the previous game so hope we'll do it justice this time around.

The current thinking is to keep it free while it's still early in development, and depending how Patreon backing goes, it may turn into a paid product in the future when it's more mature.

That is correct. Many of the transformations will allow you to keep those transformed in the party with strengths and weaknesses according to that new form, particularly in the new combat system.

Eventually there will be, though the first game was developed over several years, and this game has been worked on for the past seven months and with only myself as the writer so far, so it'll take a long time to catch up to a similar level of content as the original.

That's part of why the first release here is going to be "earliest" alpha and free for everyone for a long while during development. In its current state it has potentially up to several hours of gameplay with several transformations, though three of the four quests in the game currently take place on the starting / tutorial region.

Not all humans ended up being captured, as many of the epilogues in the previous game hinted at. Some were able to establish remote villages hidden from the demons. Why the demons were unable to track the remainder of humanity down completely is part of the plot of the sequel.

Aww thanks <3 The current plan is to release for free while it's so early on in development, then at some point as it matures that may change.

We have no plans to release a 2024 version. We may add in new content into 2023 in the future, however.

If you'd like the older free version of this game that runs off of Electron, it is also available here on Itch.io.

Possibly, but I don't want to put out a paid version of a game on a system I'm not confident that I can support adequately. I have an old Mac laptop from 2017, but I don't develop on it, and Apple has some policies that makes it harder to get applications signed.

Support for this game (the Electron app based version) has ended, so that is exceedingly unlikely.

Mainly it's transformations by failure or randomness, but there are some encounters where you can choose whether or not party members get transformed intentionally, usually in exchange for some supplies.

We are! We're currently working on a sequel to this game, actually, set a hundred years past the events of this game. We post progress updates pretty often on our Discord server and occasionally some public posts on Patreon.

Thanks for the feedback. For a time we were pursuing a tutorial like that but some poor coding decisions and the overall random nature of the game made us reverse course and fall back to the version today which is more of a lookup help system than a hand-holding one. I'm not sure if Tycoon will ever have a tutorial like this as we are focusing primarily on a new project now, but this will be useful in the future.

Can you specify what parts you found confusing? A lot of players have said the game is either very easy or very hard, with strangely not much in between. Or else when it's in between people just don't comment on it.

Unfortunately there are not any other ways to select options aside from the mouse at this time.

Perhaps in a the future we could use arrows keys or something else to change which button has focus, though if your mouse is performing multiple clicks in quick succession with you meaning to, that what you have described would probably cause issues in many other parts in the game as well, not just in encounters.

Back from traveling now. If you haven't returned the copy of the game, can you send me your Player.log file? Typically for Windows it'll be in a directory ending in:

AppData\LocalLow\Blue Fairy Media LLC\The Exile of Aphrodisia (2023)

Thanks for your feedback!
The name was actually chosen to be a bit of a mashup between the word henshin and Packinko, hence put together, Henshinko!.

I have no clue. I am not familiar with Joiplay.

Fate epilogue texts are little stories you see for party members you've lost, depending on what transformations got them, or if they left your party due to health / morale / lust issues, what happened to them afterward.

At some point or other I'd like to add in a new player transformation or two, and possibly some more cursed artifacts. But that's not confirmed yet; we're currently focusing on a sequel in development now.
