Hey everyone,
I’ve been stuck for a while trying to animate natural-looking first-person hand movements in Blender.

I’m using the Mixamo add-on / control rig to retarget and control the hands, but I’m struggling to get smooth, believable hand motion (especially wrist rotation, finger movement, and overall flow). The animations either feel stiff or unnatural, and I can’t seem to make them look right in first-person view.

I’m mainly looking for guidance on:

  • Proper workflow for first-person hand animations

  • Whether Mixamo control rig is the right approach or if I should switch to another rig

  • Tips for animating hands (IK/FK usage, keyframing, references, etc.)

If anyone has experience with first-person hand animation in Blender or good tutorials/resources, I’d really appreciate the help. Thanks!

I’m new to itch.io and an aspiring game developer. I’ve been learning Unity and C#, and I’m really interested in working with others instead of going solo so I can learn and grow faster. I’m eager to contribute however I can, pick up new skills, and gain real experience by being part of a team, project, or game jam.

If you’re open to beginners or need an extra helping hand, I’d be happy to connect—feel free to reply or DM.

Hey! I’m a CS student and beginner Unity dev with some experience in low-poly 3D modeling. I’ve worked on personal projects mainly for learning and I’m looking to grow faster by collaborating with others. I’d be happy to help if you are still looking for people.
