Haha, Thank you, so happy to hear you enjoyed the physics and had fun playing

Thank you so much. I tried adding animated character movements, but I couldn't figure it out in time to make them look smooth. Thanks again it really means a lot.

Thank you for the feedback. I really wanted to add more levels and different types of obstacles, but I ran out of time since I only started learning game dev about two weeks ago. Thanks again for playing my game.

Hey Itch community

I'm building a game from scratch with a small catch: I started with zero engine experience and no formal game design background. Just curiosity, stubbornness, and a dangerous amount of free time.

The Concept

It’s a 10-player free-for-all on a single map. Everyone spawns in, everyone's a target, and there are no respawns.

The Twist: Every time you kill an opponent, you instantly swap places with them. You take their physical position, their weapon, and keep your remaining health. You become them completely.

Sounds like a reward, right? Not always. Maybe they had perfect cover, or maybe they were standing in the open with three enemies aiming right at them. You won't know until you pull the trigger, so every fight forces a split-second decision: Is this kill actually safe for me right now?

I'm documenting the entire journey right here on Itch the wins, the bugs, and the 2am "why is this code breaking" moments with regular devlog updates. If you've ever wanted to build something but felt underqualified, I hope this devlog series inspires you to start!

💬 Help Me Out:

  • What would you call a game with this mechanic? Drop your title suggestions in the comments!
    1. If you'd like to read the full design doc, let me know below and I’ll gladly share it.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on the mechanic! Feel free to drop links to your own devlogs or games below I'd be happy to check them out!

  • Just submitted my first ever game jam entry.
Echo Shift is a 2D puzzle platformer where time is your ultimate tool. Trapped in a tight facility, you must navigate multi-stage hazard courses by recording your movements into phantom "Echoes." Stand on pressure plates, toggle levers, and coordinate tight relay sprints alongside your past selves to unlock doors and escape!
As a brand-new game dev, feedback means the world to me, please leave a comment and rate the game so I can learn and improve for future projects!
