Edit: Finally finished reading it and it's soo good. Story makes you feel a dozen of different emotions and I certainly can tell that I was constantly entertained in more than one way. And most importantly, different means of entertaining a reader miraculously don't clash or hinder each other. I honestly don't get how this is not super popular. I mean, no routes, obviously, but if people judge story based on that before even trying, I just feel sorry for them.
Apparently FAQ button is not big enough. They don't have a schedule, since they're both quite busy, but they try to update game at least every quarter. So, next update is quite likely a few months away.

Renpy games pretty much always can be updated without losing saves (pc: save files are kept separately from the game so you can just launch new version, android: just use apk to update your game and saves should be fine). The only problem is that renpy is not most update-friendly engine, so saves from old versions tend to break something quite often.

I don't think it's just your phone. It's pretty much the only renpy vn that keeps constantly crashing on my phone, which means it wasn't really optimised to run on android devices.
Dude, homecoming is a passion project, you can't expect them to update it often. Especially when they stick to schedule with Santa Lucia, their main project. And last PR update was just a year ago, not two. I can totally understand frustration, but it doesn't do any good to anybody.
upd: Fuck, it was so good, so much diversity in smut is not something you read everyday. But for me, highlight of new update is the last expression Edwin makes in a new CG (when Ress doesn't take it too far). I definitely want to see more of that Edwin.
Were you, like, reading? Orbs are simply not something to be relied on. Any sane person will use his powerful orb only in case of emergency and pay hefty price for it. Possibly die. Weak orbs may not even be worth using. And yes, orbs are still a subject of research. So I guess police of their world values lives of their officers more than insignificant ability boost (cuz, well, there are other tools and equipment besides orbs and boring police uses them instead of suicide tickets).
Plot, humor, characters, animations — everything is of such high quality, it feels a bit unreal tbh. Shirokoi definitely makes some of the best content I've seen here on itch.

Because orbs are dangerous af for their users and you can't force every police officer to use one. If their world have laws similar to ours, I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be able to force anyone into bonding with orb (which is said to be dangerous on its own), because hu… err… beastman rights. Plus, you can't tell if orb will be useful in battle before bonding with it.
Almost year since last update and still nothing? Dang, that's just sad. This vn is so unique and nice, I wish devs would pick it back up and make a status update devlog. Or at least properly cancel it, so we don't have to wonder.

Of course it's possible to bring all route characters to waterfall. Just hang out with them as much as possible and try to choose things they'd like or remember (you will even be notified about it, but I'm sure you already know that).
No "gay" or "lgbt" tags? Well, that explains why I've only learned about this game's existence from ChoPro (quite happy about it, too). Perhaps you should try adding said tags?
